My toddlers new favorite park. They have something for everyone to enjoy. Multiple play areas for kids, a little wetlands reserve area with duck, gease, and turtles, lots of open grass areas, picnic tables, and a little botanical garden to walk through. My son loves to look at the animals and play Noah's arc on the boat in the play area. It's not usually too busy and there's parking all around on the streets. The only downside is that there is animal poop all over the place so you always have to watch where you are stepping.

Big park, lake and play area. Nice and clean, lots of ducks, geese and it also has botanical garden. Good to do walks and it has some elevation so you can get some good walks in.

We stumbled upon Polliwog Park and absolutely loved it. Such a beautiful park with a peaceful pond and lots of open space to explore. My granddaughter had the best time--she especially loved the ducks and learned how to say "duck" for the first time here! The toddler play area is enclosed, which made it feel super safe and relaxed for little ones to run around. You can tell this place is very family-friendly--everyone we met was kind and welcoming. A perfect spot for a sunny afternoon with babies and young kids. We'll definitely be back!

The good: This park was beautiful! I loved that the playground structure had the rubber squishy flooring so it was much cleaner than sand or wood chip playgrounds. The rope-climbing structures were unique and cool. The smaller kid area is enclosed in a nice fence so small ones can't run off into the duck pond. The duck pond had tons of sunbathing turtles, ducks and geese. There's a botanic garden walking distance from the park. The wooden structures were sturdy and made of nice quality wood. The swings had a sturdy and wide plastic seat. The playground had areas with shade. There were benches around the park to rest on. My son enjoyed the trash truck that would drive by to get trash at the park. The bad: There's a lot of geese poop by the pond. The interesting: You go downward on a sloped hill to the playground so the area feels nestled. There's a dog park up at the parking lot that's enclosed.

We went to this park for the first time last weekend and what a gem! The playground is fun and everything looked new. There was a kids birthday party that day but even with a bunch of kids it didn't feel super crowded because it was a large space I can see how parking can be tricky. I drove around the block and finally parked in the adjacent school parking lot because it was the weekend and there were no classes. I am sure you are not allowed to park there on weekday school days

Beautiful community park with a lovely lake, plenty of open space, and free street parking nearby. The playground is very well equipped, and there's also a solid outdoor workout station for adults. Bathrooms are available and generally convenient. The main downside is the is the goose poop around the lake area -- while the geese add to the scenery, there's quite a bit of goose poop concentrated near the water, so watch your step.

It is a great park that is full of life, and has multiple playgrounds for the kids. There are also many routes you can take around the park.

Ask the Community - Polliwog Park

Can you bring your own portable bbq grill?

They have grills here but don't see why you can't bring your own portable bbq grill. As long as you're respectful and clean up and leave no trace? Check with the Polliwog Park website to be safe or contact someone from the website. Better safe than… Read more

When do the summer gatherings and music at the park start?

Hi Rayme, Concerts in the Park is back this summer! Please check our website for all the details, www.manhattanbeach.gov/concerts

Does the park has bbqs?

Hi Kevin, yes there are bbqs next to majority of the picnic tables.

This a question for those that workout this park, how is it?

Is it artificial?

This is a man-made park

Is this closed on the weekend ? There were hours on this Yelp page and now they are suddenly gone. Odd.

I went on a Sunday (4/18/21) and it was open.

Hello - this park is closed on the weekend?

I went on a Sunday (4/18/21) and it was open.

I am wondering why there's no parking lot? You would think with such a big park there would be parking available. One side of the park has a very short strip of street parking and only during certain days and hours.

There's a huge parking lot on the westside of the park off of peck up by begg pool.

Can you fish at this park?

Hi Deon. Unfortunately no, fishing is not allowed in the park.

Is there a disc golf course here?

There used to be but not anymore. They've taken out the disc golf course.

Most recently, it's been here for me when I come back from NYC and just want to get some shots up alone. Nothing as cathartic as grabbing the new basketball my Granny just got me, popping my airpods in, and doing the basketball workouts I used to do as a kid when hoop dreams were all I cared about. Something about reconnecting with that part of myself just eases the stresses that come with adulthood. I think that chubby insecure kid would be proud of who I am today, and that makes me smile. It's good to look back at your past and appreciate who you've become... But don't stare at it, or you'll end up staying there. Look back, smile, and keep pushing forward. What stands out is how peaceful it feels despite being so close to everything. No crowds, no noise -- just a relaxed, friendly vibe. Instead, I picked up a delicious sandwich, some deli sides, and drink from nearby Boccato's Groceries ( https://www.yelp.com/biz/boccatos-groceries-hermosa-beach ), lucked out in quickly finding a parking spot, and ate my lunch at a picnic table before reading my book for almost two hours. It was a beautiful day, and many other people were enjoying the near perfect weather and all the space the park has. There were at least three different kids' birthday parties going on, but they didn't interfere with one another, because Valley Park has multiple areas with picnic tables. It has a huge playground, a basketball court, and what seem like acres of grass to play on. There are also lots of trees for shade. As I said, I found parking almost right away, on Morningside Drive, but that meant a long walk for me, as the path from the western side of the park takes a rather circuitous route past the playground and the basketball court to the group of tables I wanted to sit at (the only ones completely unoccupied when I arrived). I could have taken a direct route through the grass, but that would have meant walking through a kids' soccer game and some of groups of kids playing. Most of the parking is along the two streets that form the northern boundary of the park, but I could see the street from where I was sitting, and those spots didn't open up often, and when they did, they were quickly taken. It got a bit windy as the afternoon passed, so I had to go chasing some napkins and the lid for one of my deli delectables at times, but it really is a nice, well maintained park. I didn't use the bathroom, but I did see quite a few moms taking their kids into them, so I'm assuming they couldn't have been that disgusting. Speaking of the bathrooms, it would be great if this Yelp listing could have a different, less puke-inducing cover photo. Please click on some other photos, people!

If I had small kids, I'd would've brought them here, simply for the area it's in, nice, safe family community, parks serenity, shaded areas w/a cool breeze and I always see the Police patrolling by. But there's Recreation park for more activities for the wee ones, of course you've also got ES beach and nearby Polliwog Park (Ok not nearby, but worth the drive) to venture off to with the family. But I must say this town offers a lot of activities for the kiddies, I don't know all of them because my kids are grown up now :(.
