Polliwog is the largest park in all of the South Bay and a great park for a walk. They've got a large pond - watch out for all the Canadian geese and watch your step for um some nature droppings. They have several playgrounds, picnic areas and gazebos. Note - Manhattan Beach is pretty strict with large parties at the park- so you will need to reserve if you're hosting a party. Overall it's a fun park that's a perfect spot for picnics, nature sight seeing and chill days. read more

My toddlers new favorite park. They have something for everyone to enjoy. Multiple play areas for kids, a little wetlands reserve area with duck, gease, and turtles, lots of open grass areas, picnic tables, and a little botanical garden to walk through. My son loves to look at the animals and play Noah's arc on the boat in the play area. It's not usually too busy and there's parking all around on the streets. The only downside is that there is animal poop all over the place so you always have to watch where you are stepping. read more

The good: This park was beautiful! I loved that the playground structure had the rubber squishy flooring so it was much cleaner than sand or wood chip playgrounds. The rope-climbing structures were unique and cool. The smaller kid area is enclosed in a nice fence so small ones can't run off into the duck pond. The duck pond had tons of sunbathing turtles, ducks and geese. There's a botanic garden walking distance from the park. The wooden structures were sturdy and made of nice quality wood. The swings had a sturdy and wide plastic seat. The playground had areas with shade. There were benches around the park to rest on. My son enjoyed the trash truck that would drive by to get trash at the park. The bad: There's a lot of geese poop by the pond. The interesting: You go downward on a sloped hill to the playground so the area feels nestled. There's a dog park up at the parking lot that's enclosed. read more

We stumbled upon Polliwog Park and absolutely loved it. Such a beautiful park with a peaceful pond and lots of open space to explore. My granddaughter had the best time--she especially loved the ducks and learned how to say "duck" for the first time here! The toddler play area is enclosed, which made it feel super safe and relaxed for little ones to run around. You can tell this place is very family-friendly--everyone we met was kind and welcoming. Honestly, it's was beautiful experience. My bestie introduced me to this spot. It's very dear to her and I was able to see why. Never have I seen a park so clean and very well kept. Years ago I would often past by but never really paid it any mind. The ducks, geese and turtles were so beautiful and mind-blowing. It's also a perfect place to play Pokemon Go. I love the play area for the children as well. Nice and huge. It is definitely a place for a romantic picnic or to take your kids to run loose and have a good time. I love the size because even on a crowded day, you can find a spot to kick back alone. As far as parking, I personally see it with difficulty. Trying to find a space and comfortably park without risking being hit by movable traffic could be a bit tricky. Parking seems to be limited as well. We went to this park for the first time last weekend and what a gem! The playground is fun and everything looked new. There was a kids birthday party that day but even with a bunch of kids it didn't feel super crowded because it was a large space I can see how parking can be tricky. Great park to take your kids and have a picnic. Came here on Sunday July 5th to enjoy the live performance of Scot Bruce, the ultimate Elvis impersonator. There were a lot of people sitting in the concrete stands, but enough space for everyone to enjoy the music and be able to dance. Beautiful community park with a lovely lake, plenty of open space, and free street parking nearby. The playground is very well equipped, and there's also a solid outdoor workout station for adults. Bathrooms are available and generally convenient. The main downside is the is the goose poop around the lake area -- while the geese add to the scenery, there's quite a bit of goose poop concentrated near the water, so watch your step. read more

Very cool playground and grassy areas, but knocked off one star because not appropriate for my one year old. The playground was cool, but parts are filled with tire shreds. Not safe for my one year old who is curious and currently likes to put everything in his mouth. We also brought a blanket to picnic, but the grass is covered in goose poop. Again, not great for a curious toddler. Maybe other parts of the park are cleaner, but will keep this in mind for the future. read more

A big park, but there is a lack of trash cans around the perimeter of the park. So you have to walk a bit to get to one. Wow, what a treasure! Love this park as it offers so much variety to so many. Firstly the duck pond with feathered friends which is enhanced by a beautiful backdrop of greenery and walkways. Squirrels abound and are tame enough to hand feed which is always a thrill. Now to the kiddos, the storyboard walk which changes often is an inspired addition. Plus the playground is tempting to adults as well as children and it is lovely to see parents getting a thrill out of it along with their kids. The walkways offer a flat area for scooters and the lawn areas a great place to run off some steam. The small botanical garden run by volunteers is a great place to start looking for ideas for your own native garden. We took photos of native CA plants that attract pollinators to add to my daughter's garden makeover. A beautiful bandstand is included and you often find computer users looking for some peace and quiet from apartment living sitting there, or a kissing couple, or a family sharing a picnic or an ice cream. Arts and culture are represented by the Historical Society, something to look into as it sounds interesting and just across the road is an arts building where you can take classes in pottery or other crafts. At the back car park area is a dog park which is very popular with pooches and you will see a parade of them trotting around the park enjoying the sniffs and smells. This is a lovely local park, enjoyed by many people throughout the year, well kept and a treasure. read more

Beautiful park with pond, birds, botanical garden, different types of play areas and more. Street Parking can be a bit annoying but their newly renovated play area near the pond is awesome. Gated for the younger toddlers so very safe while there are fun group swings and ships that can keep the kids busy! Play area with tire chips is full of activities but could get really cramped so we prefer the area near the pond. On the grass area, we see professional photo shootings every once in a while. Recommend this place for walking or spending a few hours with kids. Love their botanical garden too! Compact but beautiful. read more

I've been going to this park since I was a little kid. I've taken Xander a few times over the years, but this is the first time we've been since the playground by the lake has been completely redone. I must say, they did a great job. All of the playground equipment was super nice quality, and every kid there looked like they were having a blast. Xander and his little buddies definitely were! It was pretty fun for daddy as well. They even have a little pirate ship in the new playground. I'd like to think it was a little nod to the giant wooden pirate ship that used to be there when I was younger. Which was very awesome and why Polliwog was always my favorite park as a kid. However, I do understand that the splintery behemoth would be considered a little dangerous by today's standards . read more

One of the best parks in LA County. It's has everything you want: playground for the kids, duck and turtle pond, walking paths, plenty of shade, a public pool and even a small garden. When we went on a Sunday and there was a good amount of people but it didn't feel crowded. We found street parking because there was plenty of it. One kind of strange thing we saw was two teenage girls riding with their giant dog down the kiddie slide. I have never seen a dog of any size ride down a slide but this dog was huge. Both the girls and the dog were too big for the slide. read more

Polliwog Park is hands down one of our favorite parks in LA. We take the kids here when we're in town or try to meet up with friends and family here when we can. It's a big park with so much for the kids to do. They also have a small closed in fitness center that is cool too. I've driven past this park a couple of times and finally decided to visit. Large play structure with a zip line, 2 sets of swings for younger and older kids. Soft rubber flooring. A quick walk gets you to a little pond with ducks and turtles. There's also a gazebo. And lots of grassy areas for a picnic. There's also a grassy slope which is perfect for rolling down the hill! The amphitheatre(outside multi level seating) is a great place to have a picnic and go people watching. Amazing park with plenty of options for activities. We love the toddler playground and my son's love the wildlife from the lake.

It is a great park that is full of life, and has multiple playgrounds for the kids. There are also many routes you can take around the park.

My boyfriend introduced me to Polliwog Park, located in Manhattan Beach, CA. There is plenty of free street parking and the park is decently sized with a lot of open grassy areas. We always go to Polliwog Park with the intention of reading and relaxing but by boyfriend always winds up feeding and playing with the ducks and I get distracted trying to keep an eye on him, LOL just kidding - sort of! In between reading my book and dozing off, I really enjoy watching all of the families and the kids which almost always brings a smile to my face. The park is pretty clean and well maintained. I haven't used the public restrooms, yet, but I know there are some which is always reassuring. I love the little lake, filled with ducks, fish, and even turtles! There is also a dog park nearby, plenty of shelters with picnic tables, and even a community pool. While I wish more parks like Polliwog existed in Los Angeles, I'm glad we have this one at least! Polliwog Park offers nature, wildlife, and some green space in a busy city. Parking is mostly along the street, but a small parking lot is also located close to the swimming pool. The best part of the park is the botanical gardens (close to the swimming pool). The garden is full of beautiful poppies and yellow daisies. Many of the plants here are meant to attract butterflies and certain species of birds. The garden itself is TINY, but it is refreshing to see a beautiful garden full of native plants and flowers. The playground and lake are peaceful and inviting from the distance, but once you get closer to the lake, the amount of bird feces can be quite revolting. The Canadian geese and mallard ducks are adorable, though they produce a lot of waste and it is rather off putting in such a small space. read more

Heads up this park is closed due to Covid. Not only is it closed but it has not been maintained in months since the closure so the equipment is permanently damaged. There are holes in the playground floor and rust stains all over. I felt bad giving the park a 1 star, which it is now, because under normal times this park couldn't be any better. Also fortunately for this park there is more to it than just the playgrounds. There are nice walking paths, lots of spacious grassy areas for playing and picnicking, and a lake with plenty of wildlife to see. Hopefully when MB decides to join the rest of California and open it's playgrounds the city will be able to salvage what is left of the playground ruins. So, if you are looking for a park and not for a playground, right now, this is the spot for you! Hoping to edit and change this review very soon once the playgrounds are reopened. I will give 5 stars , but the reason I gave 4 is because to many poop , you can't go picnic because is to much poop everywhere!!! so the park is so nice to get and play with kids on by the little lake , but is too much poop to many ducks and geese , is too many the city has to clean that whole park , no body can seat there or have kids running, I don't know if is the idea , not have kids or families doing a picnic? 5 stars allllll the way!! They now added a fitness station for adults with machines right next to the slides and playground for the kids. When I was a kid, my parents would celebrate My sister's and my birthdays here at the park almost every single year.. Twice a year until we were like 19 yrs old or so.. :P This park is HUGE, CLEAN, and BEAUTIFUL! In the summer time, free live band music plays here every Sunday. Still is going on. Was just here last Sunday. It has a few playgrounds, a nice pond with ducks and swans, gazebos.. It's for children, adults, and elders. Perfect place to put everyone in and have a great BBQ or picnic! I AM super lucky to live 2 minutes from here. read more

Updating my review from four years ago! Now that I have I son we love coming to this park. I even rented out the gazebo by the pond for his first birthday. There a slightly higher fee if you're not a Manhattan Beach resident but I was ok with paying for it. I had no problems making the reservation also, non-residents can reserve 3 months in advance. I believe it was a 3 hour window for the party and we were done cleaning up by then and none of the park staff came by to kick us out. There was a party after our window too, so it was nice that we didn't feel rushed to get out of there. The playground right beside the gazebo could use a little work though. The flooring is coming apart and my son has tripped a couple times in there. The play equipment is a little on the old side too. However, the other playground for older kids has been replaced maybe a couple years ago. So my review is strictly for the "younger kids" playground. read more
