Amazing, beautiful spot for dinner and the perfect place to relax by the fire pits afterward. We stopped in for drinks and a cup of clam chowder, and everything was wonderful. The fresh bread and seasoned butter they served were absolutely delicious. The manager was fantastic, and our server Amy was equally warm, attentive, and welcoming. Such a great experience all around!

Beautiful location right on the water with a great seafood menu. The staff was friendly, the food was delicious, the ambiance awesome! Love the extra touch with the edible orchid too. The only draw back I had was the bitter seemed like oil and not real drawn butter. Would recommend

Ultimate G and T

A group of us came here for my friends birthday and it was a great experience! We were a little bummed they didn't take reservations but we were able to call ahead earlier in the day and that did help with getting a shorter wait time. This was my first time coming and I thought everything was delicious! Our waitress was so attentive and helpful with the menu items. I got the Ultimate G and T, Lobster Fra Diavolo and we shared the Fried Calamari. The drink was so refreshing and the seafood tasted fresh and flavorful. A few of my friends got the Makers Mark Sirloin and they enjoyed every bite. Each steak was cooked to perfection and they couldn't stop talking about the Brussel Sprouts. I also ordered a Key Lime Pie to go and it was the perfect late night sweet treat. The weather wasn't that great when we went so I'll definitely be back to take advantage of the outside seating and beautiful views!

Overall very mediocre food. I definitely was thinking that the clam chowder wasn't home made. The five onion soup was very oily and had frizzled onions on top... interesting choice but where are the other 4 onions? Service was good otherwise

When in Ithaca I always stop in for dinner. They have a good location on the water with a large parking lot. I always have a great meal with good service. All the seafood is great.

This was the worst steak ever.

I have no idea what has happened to the restaurant. Fantastic location. Nicely appointed space inside. With extended covers outside dining and a tiki bar. They don't take reservations which I find to be a drawback. They have discontinued lunch which was a delightful time to enjoy the view. Last evening, a friend and I went for an early dinner before heading to the Hanger Theater. We ordered the soup and steak which were the specials for the evening. The soup was great. The steak was billed as a ribeye with crab, mashed potatoes, and mixed vegetables. The steak was $49. However, it was not a ribeye and was of one of the worst qualities of beef I have ever had. The waiter was friendly and professional. Excellent. The manager acted as if he were high. Could careless. As, it turns out the waiter went to another manager and the cost was reduced by 50 % Will not return or recommend this establishment. I will note it was PACKED. Maybe it was just the luck we had.

The sizzling cookie... my only photo of the night.

I really enjoyed this restaurant. It has a nice little spot right on the water and they've got the outside set up nicely so you can sit out there to relax or wait for your table. Our waitress was fantastic and I wish I could remember her name. She had some great recommendations and was super friendly. One option on the menu that I loved was that you can get smaller portions of certain entrees. I got the small plate portion of the markers mark sirloin which was very good! I also treated myself to the sizzling cookie which was awesome! I would absolutely recommend this restaurant if you're visiting Ithaca. I can't wait to go back!

We came here for dinner after my daughter's graduation. We called ahead at 11am for a text ahead dinner reservation for 5 at 4:30pm. By 4:45pm we were seated in a booth. We all ordered the halibut special $34 a plate and then a seafood Diablo. Halibut came with spinach and rice. Rice was on the salty side so I didn't finish it. For dessert we tried the chocolate cake for two, molton chocolate cake, and sorbet. The waitress was attentive even though they were packed. Including tip the bill was $260

The place was totally empty, which is to expected at that time. Bar Argos is definitely a vibe. Think: antique chic with a touch of eccentric elegance. Ornate chairs, old-school lamps, and fancy mismatched furniture are scattered throughout, making you feel like you've wandered into a vintage movie set where cocktails play a leading role. There are multiple rooms, including one with a long table and huge windows that let the light spill in dramatically. I was lowkey stunned by how pretty it all was. Girlfriend and I shared the Clarified Lassi ($13), which is under the "Delightfully Unusual" section of their cocktail spectrum - right in between "Colloquial" and "What?!" It was fruity, creamy, and weird in a cool, sophisticated way. My Hotelie friend later explained in the car (upon mention of the drink) that clarified cocktails use a process where milk is added to a mixed drink and then curdled on purpose. The curds trap impurities, and when you strain them out, you're left with a crystal-clear drink that still has the creamy mouthfeel. Definitely checks out with the Clarified Lassi that we drank... Overall, the experience felt like stepping into a fancy secret. 10/10 would come back, undoubtedly!!

Anyways... what did I get out of it? An awesome group of people and well... MIX. Updating my review because MIX deserves a proper shoutout and I haven't done it justice. This place is unequivocally my absolute FAVORITE brunch spot. The selection is vast, the portions are hearty, and the staff? They're the kindest, most accommodating folks you'll meet. It's like they've mastered the art of making you feel right at home. And the food? Oh, the food is ABSOLUTELY divine. Every bite is a delicious reminder of why I've converted to the church of brunch. Seriously, I went from a casual brunch-goer to a full-fledged brunch enthusiast, all thanks to CHAARG for leading me to this culinary gem. My brunch game has never been the same.

I've had brunch, lunch, and dinner at MIX, and all with varying levels of enjoyment. My recent…read morebrunch experience included ordering a Where the West Begins omelette, which includes "Braised short rib, butternut squash, red onion jam, spinach, smoked gouda". I wasn't sure how to feel about butternut squash with everything else (I'm not necessarily a huge squash fan - but I'm trying to learn to enjoy it), but the omelette was decent... it's the other side on my plate that looked less than appetizing. The biscuit was still covered in flour (and who wants to bite down on a clump of flour?), the cheddar hashbrown casserole lacked in flavor, and the brown sugar cinnamon oatmeal just... wasn't doin' it for me. Other recent experiences have been similar... there's usually one item on the plate that's flavorful or imventive (sometimes a main dish, sometimes a side), and the other parts of the plate are lacking. In reality, I think MIX is suffering a bit from rising food costs and inconsistency in their service and offerings. They've also changed the style of their menu from the original tapas-style to now being more typical entree options. Again... they've lost some of their innovative, experimental approach. In terms of ambiance, it really depends. I've been here for a work event and, because of the number of people, it was SO LOUD... they had also done a buffet offering for the event. As you can imagine, the food from the buffet was lacking, but that's often what happens when you're more mass producing your food (and it's left in a chafing dish, trying to be kept warm). On the other hand, I've been here for a dinner on a random night and was able to enjoy one of their Thai noodle bowls (and split some other apps with friends). The reality is that experiences at MIX are... well... a mix. Whether service, menu offerings, etc., I've found MIX's recent inconsistencies to be a disappointment. Will probably only visit in the future if it's suggested by others.

Both nights I ordered the "burger of the month" which was a pesto burger. I added bacon and asked for a Caesar salad instead of fries. We ordered two of the chicken bites so the group could try both sauces, but since I'm not a fan of spicy, I only tried the honey truffle one and loved it. What a s*^%%# little bar…read more I came here at the recommendation of a local, but these folks are running game on drunk kids late at night. I ordered a double tanqueray and tonic and watched the guy pour the drink. Poorly. (Pun intended) He put the tonic gun on full blast and dribbled tonic into the glass. The bottle stopper was closed, so he had to finger it open as he continued to blast tonic into the glass. I could tell the drink was mostly tonic and said, "Hey friend, that's not a double!" He looked offended and swore it was because they don't use anything to measure their tonic, they just rely on the bottle dribbling out the so-called proper amount. I should have walked away before he sat it in front of me. I took one sip and surprise-surprise, it's basically just tonic water with a touch of a tanqueray. This was my first drink of the night, and I know it's wrong, but neither the guy nor the girl behind the bar were interested in making it properly. Pour out two shots. It's not that hard. But if you're purposefully pouring short booze to drunk people knowing you'll get away with it, it IS too hard. Don't come here. I know at least one local likes it, but nobody likes being charged double for a single anything. Or maybe the play here is to just order stuff in bottles. That way they can't cheat you out of liquor I paid $14 for a glass of tonic and MAYBE a shot of tanqueray. MAYBE. I feel like I paid $14 for the privilege of writing a crappy review. I absolutely got my money's worth.

I will NEVER EVER go here again AND I will advise everyone (I get asked a lot about good spots to hit, and where to avoid) to stay away, and will explain that the owners are terrible and don't care about their staff. Wow, they really shot themselves in the foot. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! If you're in this area and are looking for a drink at a local place I will recommend going 1/2 a block away to Pete's. Do not spend your money here; they embody everything Ithaca isn't---selfish, unconcerned w the community and pretty much all around horrible business owners!!! I was not a fan of the salmon mousse... far too salty and I wish it was paired with crisped bread or at least something other than Ritz crackers. Staff was pleasant and quick. The menu is dominated by drink options (cocktails and wines), and happy hour is 4-5pm, which is perfect for an aperitif. The fried chicken is by far their speciality, with the macaroni coming in as a distant second. But while both were delicious, I'd say the best value and taste goes surprisingly to the simple summer salad, which was crisp, sweet, tangy, and refreshing. It's only $10 for a hefty portion of food and I'd order that again anytime (and that's coming from a guy who'd never normally order a salad). My only criticisms are that the Rook doesn't have many entree choices (which may be a good thing for indecisive diners), and that it's very slightly pricey. Otherwise, it's an easy recommend for me.
