Some of the best fish and chips in the world. The hot and crunchy batter is good and I would recommend to those who like crunchy batter on their fish it is very tasty and worth trying. The regular batter is light and delicious. Great location and view, be prepared to be patient, they work as fast as they can but when busy can be a little slow. A note about the cocktails is that they are very light on the alcohol side so be prepared. Great local beer selection! read more

The Boardwalk restaurant in the scenic little town of Lund, is well worth a visit. It's a quaint place with a good bar, inside table seating and a nice patio with umbrellas and comfortable chairs around good sized tables. The service was initially slow, but it did pick up. We sat down with house supplied blankets, just in case it got cooler. We ordered drinks then clam chowder and fish and chips. The chowder was excellent. Lots of seafood in it, including a portion of smoked salmon and some octopus, and some wonderful toasted sourdough bread. The fish (lingcod, which is neither ling nor cod) was coated in a crispy, spicy batter. It was delicious and perfectly cooked. The side salad was very good, but the fries were not so fresh, a little rubbery and a lot limp. In general though, this was a good experience. The food was mostly delicious, service was friendly and mostly efficiently and we had fun looking over the Lund marina as a storm rolled in across the water. Finally, we enjoyed the fish so much, we ordered a second piece to share. Unfortunately the batter was not quite cooked even though the fish beneath was. We mentioned this because we were asked a direct question and we did nothing to seek a rebate. However, our bill was reduced. That's good service and it was truly appreciated...and it tells us that this restaurant rarely gets it wrong. It's a good place. read more

Tried to go for lunch and asked politely if we could sit by the water, the waiter was instantly rude and told us to go to the back of the restaurant. Then gave scoot signs to us. Chased us out to the back and we kept going. read more

The Boardwalk Restaurant sits on the elevated wooden board walk that curves around the harbour across from the historic Lund Hotel. The menu is simple and is posted on a board but don't let the deceive you the food is local fresh and cooked exquisitely. We ordered the mussel special and the crispy spiced fish and chips. The mussels were amazing perhaps the best I have experienced, I made the mistake of sampling my companions fish, and that resulted in a return visit the next evening. The place is small but cozy with lots of outdoor space for dining where you can watch the harbour's water taxis shuttling back and forth from Savory Island and no doubt all the way up the coast and into Desolation Sound. Time seems to slow down over dinner accompanied by a local pint of Time Warp craft beer. read more

Well, I would have like to have given four stars, based on the location and the very friendly staff. But to bad the curry I got wasn't good. It didn't have enough taste, and there was to much water in the dish. The vegetables in it were fresh and tasteful though, so it was not all bad. The view on the harbour is nice, and the historical pictures all around are very interesting. If I ever will be in Lund again, I will probably give it another try. But for now, for this dish, three stars. read more

Pretty incredible spot and fantastic chef and owner who clearly truly cares about his food. A treat in little sleepy Lund. I had the GF fish and chips. Yes, GF and the batter was crisp and light and the pieces are quite large. I'd like slightly thicker halibut pieces but hell it was fresh and good, 90% there! It's also pretty fantastic that they carry a decent GF beer (Omission) and its not outrageously priced as GF people are so often gouged. Which has me thinking - the GF batter was no additional charge either. I also had a chance to try the thai chicken curry-fantastic! A pleasant surprise, again, in sleepy Lund! Thank you Roy for fantastic meals! We went to Lund specifically to have fish and Chios at the Boardwalk. I had the Halibut and Yosuke had the Salmon. The fish was delicious! Best fried fish I've had - ever. The setting is stunning... Even on a cloudy day. The service was lacking. Our drinks came as we were half finished our food. And the server tried to give our drinks away to another table before we got them. We thought it was a little expensive - have never paid $17 for one price of fish and chips before. But... The fish rocked and it is probably the nicest patio ever! We will be back next time we are in Lund! read more

Amazing fish & chips! Both the Lingcod and halibut are great choices. They've now added a new batter (hot and crispy) which is a great addition to the regular. We recommend trying one of each of the batters. We also prefer the Yam fries. So yummy and we look forward to coming back again next year. read more

We just had dinner here at The Boardwalk. Oh my, excellent service and food! Our server was very sweet and friendly, and, as a local, was able to answer all of our questions, and fill us in with a bit of history. Wonderful, tender ribs and the best fingerling potatoes. The seafood chowder was out of this world and the green dinner salad with the berry vinaigrette so tasty. The view? INCREDIBLE!Definitely the place place to eat in Lund! read more

Located at the end of the known world........ oh wait at the end of Highway 101 on the Sunshine Coast you arrive in Lund BC. Boasting a hotel a bakery and one restaurant this is one huge town (NOT). Good thing the only restaurant in town is amazing! The Historic Boardwalk Restaurant is a seafood restaurant first and foremost. Once you find yourself a parking spot which are scarce in town you will take a walk down the boardwalk to the cute little restaurant. The menu includes fish and chips of three types including cod, halibut and salmon. They also have other options including pasta and other great looking plates. One really nice thing with this restaurant is that almost everything on the menu can be gluten free for all the celiacs out there (this includes the fish and chips). From the sounds of it the gluten free batter was actually much more flavorful which is saying a ton as the regular batter was amazing! My friend had fish and chips for the first time in her life as she is a celiac and loved it she now realizes why everyone seems to enjoy it. One more great thing about their fish for fish and chips is that it is not at all greasy like most fish and chips it is nice and light and just great. The beer menu includes lots of choices including some local craft brews like the brews out of Townsite Brewing in Powell River which makes amazing ales. They also have a good selection of wines and non-alcoholic drinks like special lemonade and the likes. The restaurant has both inside and outside seating. If it is a nice day outside you would be nuts to sit inside the restaurant if you did not have to! The view from you seat on the patio is amazing! You see the small Marina, the small mossy creak that runs under the boardwalk and out to the ocean as well as an amazingly beautiful seascape. So if you are on the upper Sunshine Coast camping or vacationing or if you live there you really should make the trek out to beautiful Lund and try this restaurant out. You will not be disappointed especially if you are a Celiac and cannot usually enjoy things such as Battered Fish and Chips. read more

We went to the Boardwalk because they advertised the best fish and chips, and it did not disappoint. They were not spicy as another reviewer said. We sampled the local brewing company, Townsite, out of Powell River and watched the sunset. While we ate we were treated to someone playing bagpipes on the bluff above the marina. read more

Possibly the best GF menu ever! They don't promote the fact, but the whole menu minus fried Mars bar on the dessert menu is GF. I nearly fell off my chair. I went all in and had dishes I haven't had since turning GF. Fried calamari, fish and chips (halibut in spicy crunchy batter) followed by apple cheesecake. Amazing!!! And Megan our server was outstanding. Server of the year in Canada if I had my way :) if you're GF, go here. If you're not GF, go here. This restaurant is worth a visit to Lund especially as you watch the sun set over Savary Island and especially during the shoulder season when it's quiet. Everyone in our party enjoyed their lunch. The fish tacos were great! I recommend asking for your fish grilled rather than fried - tastes better and healthier too! The salad was delicious, even the dressing was good! The view and atmosphere is amazing, couldn't be better.
