Went here for lunch with friends and the vibes are similar to Blue Crab on Lakefront. We were seated immediately and our server was attentive. We started with the onion rings which were good and the remoulade sauce serves with it was delicious . For my entree I had the crabcake sandwich which was flavored well and the crab cake was not too bready which is how I like it except that due to the lack of filler fell apart quickly and I ended up finishing with fork so didn't work well as a sandwich. I would definitely get the crabcake again but on its own because it was messy as a sandwich. Someone else in my party got the Cobb salad sans blue cheese and while I didnt try it I would love to try on another visit. read more

Came off a fishing charter. Handed them our catch and they cooked ot to order and threw in a side for $10. Can't beat that! Great live music on a Saturday afternoon. Great bar selection. The hush puppies were dry and overcooked. I'd definitely go back and try other things. read more

Well, what can I say. Can rate the food or drinks... came in, were seated, and then waited almost 20 minutes for someone to acknowledge our existence. Food and service. I ordered crab cakes. If there was 2 ounces of crabmeat between the two cran cakes, it would shock me. My wife has brown lettuce in her salad. Blue crab pasta was cold and very bland, lots of crab shells and the spinach in it had a funky taste. 2 biscuits served on plate and they were hard, cold and old tasting. Inedible. This was a Mkt dish and very pricey!! Stuffed crabs..VERY small crab bodies, so very little crab stuffing in them for an entree. French fries covered most of the plate (no hush puppies) and another very old tasting biscuit. Again, very pricey for what was served. For what we paid for one cocktail, a couple of beers, an appetizer, and 2 entrees, was ridiculous for food of this low quality. read more

The combo platter had only 4 fried shrimp & 4 fried oysters. The rest of the plate contained a huge serving of french fries & 2 inedible hush puppies for $23. This was not a good value for the price. 6 Chargrilled oysters were tiny & also over-priced at over $18. Server had a poor attitude when my husband complained. Service was very slow, hush puppies were brunt on the outside and uncooked on the inside, the dishes and utensils were dirty. I ordered the Craberita drink, it was extremely sour. I asked to have more sweetener added to the drink but it was still sour after having been corrected. I've been wanting to try this spot for a couple of years and finally had the opportunity. I started off with a dozen oysters on the half shell which were excellent! I also had a shrimp poboy that unfortunately was not as good. The shrimp were VERY small and the breading on the shrimp would fall off because the shrimp were so small. Not only were they small but lacked flavor as well. My Dad had gumbo that he said was ok and a catfish platter that he said was good but could have used a bit more seasoning. The location is very nice with great water views and lots of boats cruising by. The service was very good as well. Overall it was OK. This restaurant is off the beaten path. You're not going to just pass here while out driving around. But there's a reason for that: boat access! Yes, this is one of the few restaurants in Slidell you can get to by boat. They have a boardwalk with places to tie up boats, and there's actually a boat launch and bait shop on the other side of the parking lot. There are also a couple of beach volleyball courts. There restaurant has an outdoor bar and plenty of outdoor seating. The interior has plenty of large windows overlooking the water which would make for a nice view during the daytime. The interior was maybe slightly noisier than average, but I don't know if that was because of design acoustics or just because of how crowded it was when I went. The food was really good. The bowl of seafood gumbo I had was maybe slightly stingy on the shrimp, but it was very tasty. The cheese biscuits I got were also good. Everyone at my table was pleased with their food. Between inflation and the pandemic it's hard to judge food prices these days, but I'd say they were maybe slightly above average? Overall, I think place has a lot going for it and hope it makes it. read more

First time at this spot and it was really great. The view was great and it doesn't matter where you sit, there is a view of the water is beautiful and the natural light in the restaurant is great! The restaurant was exceptionally clean and the service was outstanding. Our server, Sarah was very attentive and friendly. The food was very scrumptious. Really fresh and savory. The shrimp was very delicious with that Buffalo sauce and it was nice and golden. I also had the chargrilled oysters, which was some of the best I've ever had. Very flavorsome, even my husband who doesn't eat them enjoyed the one I gave him . My husband had the fried fish platter, which was also golden and tasty. The hushpuppies were big, flavorful and moist. Not sure why I haven't been here before, but it's definitely a place to revisit. read more

Classic. The Blue Crab has a casual, homey vibe that is in no way trashy. Tucked into a quiet, waterfront neighborhood the atmosphere is very chill without sacrificing great service. The wait staff is on point, friendly and attentive without being annoying. The chargrilled oysters were elegant- clean and not over charred. The raw were the biggest, cleanest oysters we've ever been served on the gulf coast. The boiled crab had great flavor, but a little bit too much work for my liking. The gumbo- light and flavorful, loaded with crab and shrimp without the gravy texture that ruins it in too many places. If I grasp for something harsh to say it would top out on the biscuits not being great; slightly under cooked but with they are also unnecessary with all the other phenomenal food. The restaurant sits on the lake & has windows that looks out on it. It also has a nice size outdoor area. The blue crab dip had a nice flavor to it, it also had some corn in it. The pasta had a rich flavor to it & it was very cheesy. The food tasted fresh but it wasn't super hot how I would've liked it. It was just warm. While eating both dishes I found that there were small pieces of crab shells in it, so just something to keep in mind. I didn't feel uncomfortably stuffed, which let me know that the quality of the food was great. I would revisit in the future, I just wouldn't rush to do so. It was decently good. Slidell peeps, you must go. For one, huge volleyball are that seems really fun. Usually packed out on weekends. Now to the good part, FOODS. Whether you go for their brunch, lunch or dinner; food is always so good. Beachy vibe with boat docking and gas fill-up stations. My FAVORITE dish I always get, Wedge Salad with Blue Cheese Ice Cream. No it's not real ice cream but it's 2 smooth, creamy blue cheese dollops of goodness. Maybe they just had an off day. Our waitress especially. It's been my experience that when a customer asks specific questions specific details should be given in response. A bit more information on the product ingredients could have thwarted the discomfort we experienced. Know exactly what is in your Margarita "Mix" before stating it's made with fresh squeezed lime juice. She either neglected to tell us that in their mix they had simple syrup or was just simply unaware of it. Either way, we should never have been made to feel that we were at fault for the mishap. This review is specifically for Rex, the oyster shucker at The Blue Crab in Slidell. We come here just to see him and eat his oysters. He is by far the BEST shucker around. His oysters are always fresh, without shells, and perfect. We eat a lot of oysters from a lot of different restaurants, but we always end up back at The Blue Crab to see Rex. Rex has come to know which oysters we like and always aims to serve us the best! My husband and I enjoy sitting at the oyster bar and chatting with him. He's pleasant and friendly. I recently went here to celebrate my son & daughter birthday party ,I was greeted horribly by the host me and my family felt so unwelcomed it was about 30 of us ,she refused us extra seating although they had empty seats , she had a very nasty attitude it was very unsettling, I didn't get the correct customer service at all and we spent a lot of money ! , she harassed me when it was time to pay as if she assumed we couldn't afford our bill and was VERY RUDE !!
