Black canary opened up right down the hill from me, and THANK GOD IT DID! Everything Julie comes up with is amazing, and her staff couldn't be any better! If you're in the area looking for good coffee, made by great people - this is your spot! She has a ton of locally made goods and products from small businesses around Pgh, be sure to check it all out! Great vibe!

It's far away from where I live but every time it worth the drive. Tried their fall special today - pumpkin pie latte, with almond milk - it's amazing. The right amount of sweetness and spice, highly recommend.

Who doesn't love a good theme? The adjacent comic book store inspired the coffee shop name and name of the alley to park behind the shop. The Nutella latte has a nice mix of chocolate and hazelnut flavor, not too syrupy on either. Quite refreshing iced and I bet comforting warm in the fall or winter. Ice cream and baked good (red velvet scones - yum!) can be purchased also. Very friendly staff and easy to find. Check it out and go often!

Bright, comfortable coffee spot attached to a retro gaming and comic store. I had a specialty latte which was just the sweet and creamy treat I was hoping for. The parking is a bit difficult to find at first - turn down Oak street and it's just behind the Cafe. I kind of wish they had some kind of local cookies or snacks to offer, but I suppose that's what the ice cream is for.

The ambiance of this Coffee Shop is everything!! It's giving a retro 80's vibe with the Green inviting velvet couch and the arcade style games (which are free to play) This place is just cool and gives all the good vibes!!! Staff is friendly and of course the Coffee is good!!! They have ice cream as well and make a good Affogato. I will definitely be returning and would recommend!! If your looking for a cool place to sit and work (free WiFi) or just vibe with a friend over coffee!!!

This local coffee shop is tucked away out in Springdale. It's worth going to! The coffee is great and they have a nice selection of other non coffee beverages. The ambience is nice and has a retro 80s vibe to it. The service is quick and they have a small parking lot behind the building.

Found the coolest coffee shop!! I was gifted the Pittsburgh Coffee Passport for Christmas and have loved exploring local coffee shops in the area. This one is by far my favorite. I got the Froot Loop speciality coffee and it was a throwback to my childhood favorite cereal!! Only downside is that the wifi was down when I visited...but honestly it was nice to just sit and have a cup of coffee.

Great service and atmosphere! One of my favorites in the area. They don't kill you with sweetness like some other places. You can tell they know their stuff

Great coffee! I recommend the Honey Shakerato. The pastries look amazing. Sometimes there is also food trucks out front!

How cute is this little cafe?!

How cute is this little cafe?! I got an iced chai w/oat milk and a lemon raspberry streusel bar. Honestly, both were delicious! The barista was super friendly and chatted with my husband and I for a bit before we hit the road. This place also has records, and a pretty eclectic menu, especially with their specialty drinks! Also, if you're looking for a place to stay, the air bnb upstairs is super cute!!

I'd been waiting for the Blawnox location to open and came in for the first time today. I'd been to the Springdale location and enjoyed it, but Blawnox is closer to my home. Julie, one of the owners, was behind the counter and provided great service. I had a bacon and cheddar scone and an americano. The scone was tasty and paired well with the americano. The shop is cozy....nice big window in front. Seating for about 11 or so people consisting of a small bench, table for 3, table for 2, couch with room for 3 or 4, low table with 2 chairs towards the back., plus at least one spot at the counter. There is a cooler with a selection of canned and bottled drinks. Cozy and friendly neighborhood atmosphere.

Examples of menu items are salads, bagels, crepes, pancakes, French toasts, waffles, omelettes, croissants, paninis and other sandwiches, and coffees. My husband and I ate one breakfast here on a Saturday morning. An employee immediately and courteously greeted us and seated us at a clean and spacious table. Soon she took our order and brought out our drinks and foods. At the end of the meal, she promptly processed our payment and thanked us. Here are my ratings for what my husband and I ate: Turkish Plate - 4.5 stars - I think that Gino might be Turkish, and this entree was one of the few Turkish menu items. It consisted of scrambled eggs, black olives, two cheeses, sliced tomato and cucumber, French fries, toasted bread, jelly, honey, and butter. Fruit Tea Waffle - 5 stars - A waffle was topped with Nutella, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, and powdered sugar. The fruits were very fresh, abundant, and sweet. On the side was whipped cream. Egg-bacon Omelet - 4 stars - My husband ate this omelet, and he thought that it tasted good. It was a good size, and it contained bacon, onions, and mozzarella cheese. On the side were three plain pancakes. Orange juice - 4.5 stars - This orange juice contained some purple and tasted fresh.

The staff is kind, and when I bring my toddler she gets so much positive attention that it turns a quick stop into a little highlight of our day. Also, for anyone who watched SLOMW, you'll get why I was so excited when they added dirty sodas to the menu. My classic order is the Cherry Breeze (Pepsi, cherry, coconut, and vanilla cream). I've tried a few other flavors too, plus some of their signature energy drinks, and everything has been spot on. If you're in or near Cheswick, PA, this place is an absolute must visit!

Cute! Excellent espresso and they make their own syrups!…read more The coffee syrups are made in house, aside from the sugar free options. This is a sure way to get bonus points in my book! A homemade syrup goes great lengths. I had the homemade raspberry in a mocha and it was absolutely delicious, rich, and divine while still being able to actually taste the espresso/coffee flavors. This is just the way a perfectly crafted latte should be in my opinion. Space is small, standing room only inside. More of a grab and go situation. The man working on the Sunday morning I stopped in was friendly, quick, and efficient. Service wasn't the quickest since there was a small line inside and only one person working, but this was not an issue for a Sunday morning coffee stop where I was willing to take my time!

Parking was easy with 2 hour street parking right nearby, which made this a low-stress stop. I was greeted by festive holiday decor when I walked in, which made the space feel warm and inviting. There are a few small tables outside for nicer weather, and inside there are three high tables meant for standing only, so it is more of a grab and go spot than a place to linger. I ordered my usual iced London Fog with almond milk. It took a few minutes to brew as expected. While waiting, I looked around and noticed a limited selection of pastries like scones, plus a small fridge with to-go sandwiches. Along one wall they also had branded merch and coffee brewing equipment for sale. Overall, this is a solid neighborhood coffee shop with quality drinks and a streamlined setup.

On this morning we decided to go to The Coffee Tree Roasters in Fox Chapel. Whenever we arrived this shop was hopping and it continued to be so even after we had left. The inside of this shop consisted of a number of tables to sit at as well as a cooler with drinks and then a place to order. There was also a small merchandise area near the front and since it was Christmas time, the front counter was decorated with gift baskets for the holidays. For my coffee on this morning I went with a gingerbread latte while my wife went with a white chocolate peppermint bark latte. My coffee here ended up being good as there was a strong gingerbread flavor without being overly sweet as well as a nice coffee flavor in the background. It probably could have been a bit more pronounced but I could certainly taste it and the drink itself was tasty. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I used to love going to the coffee tree roasters and this visit did not disappoint.
