For various reasons I was unable to take my lovely wife out to dinner on Valentine's day. So today I tried to make it up to her by taking her out to a lazy late lunch at The Bite. For those who don't know, The Bite is a food truck pod just off of hwy 20 in Tumalo. There are 4 trucks, a small lawn area for games, and of course The Bite itself, a beer tent-esque building with beer taps to get inside if you choose to be indoors. Our favorite truck is The Rogue Chef. They use Waygu style beef that is flame broiled. There is also a grilled cheese truck, a Mexican food truck, and a sushi truck. The Bite has my favorite poke bowl in Bend! Also has Noi Thai for such a reasonable price. I take out of town guests to The Bite every time.

A great way to feast and meet people for meals or beverage or both -- food carts are always filling orders so they'll give you a beeper to let you know when your order is ready. While visiting Bend, we were invited by locals to eat here. There were 4 or 5 permanent food trucks located in a small area next to a bar with indoor seating. The vibe was upscale and hipster. The cost for a grilled cheese with garlic fries was $9. A bean and cheese xl sized burrito was $12. A bit pricey but we nibbled and chilled in the provided picnic tables. I cannot say we'd be in a hurry to go back next time in Bend, but it was an experience and good place for a meet-up. read more

Cool little place in Tumalo just minutes from North Bend. Has many local beers on tap and a variety of food carts/trucks. I went for the patty melt with garlic fries and a Monkless Belgian ale. Hardest part is finding parking and a table. We will return soon read more

Hands down the worst service we've ever received. It's clear the two women who serve the beer hate their jobs and their customers. In the short time I was there I saw them speak rudely to a mom getting hot chocolate for her child, two people trying to order beer from the outside bar (which if it's really closed, shut the window!) our table for not bussing our glasses fast enough, (sorry you don't have enough glasses) and 1 or 2 other guests. I even got shouted at when I tried to close my tab. Unkind and unprofessional. The Lot, River's Place, Podski, Spoken Moto, Crosscut, Midtown Yacht Club, Silver Moon, Bevel, The Yard... all better choices unless you like mean, inattentive, pissed off people serving you. I'll recommend my friends and family avoid this place. We've never had such poor quality service. I feel so bad for the people who plan a trip out here and experience what we did. read more

love love love this place! Stopped here last week with my son Dan; he got a cheese steak & garlic fries from the Rogue; it was awesome. Best fries I've ever had. I had a roll from the sushi place. That was disappointing. Today I stopped by again after church & will def make this my new tradition. Had a monte cristo from Rogue; AMAZING. the crust was crunchy and light; cheesy goodness inside. Best without a doubt place to hang out in town! Great atmosphere and food not to mention the taps, sweet selection! Tumalo is a quaint town just minutes from Bend with a real urban feel, must do trip if you are in or around Bend. I can't believe how many people I meet that live in Bend and have still not been to The Bite. When asked for guacamole they conveniently do not serve that. Likely because it would be 10 dollars per cup. Well done! I have tried the tacos from Rico's and the Chicken Bento from the Rogue Chef. Both lunches were excellent. I wish I had ordered more of the tacos. Small and extremely yummy. There is a nice selection of beers on draft and plenty of places to sit - at the bar, at a table, on the lawn. This is a well put together setup. read more

Been numerous times. The taps and indoor seating area are the only redeeming quality to the Bite. All of the food trucks - Cheesery, Rogue Chef, Ronin, and Rico's are actually terrible, inconsistent and incredibly slow to deliver food even without a line. Extra emphasis on Rico's for offering up some of the worst Mexican food anywhere. read more

Love the atmosphere here and the crowd. So nice to have place that's different than the typical bend scene. Just a fun place to chill with friends and meet new friends. Fire pits are great in winter!!! One major complaint though. Enough of the damn reggae music!! Hour after hour of reggae music. My group has left three times because we just got sick of hearing it. Even asked them to kindly change the channel and offered to pay them to do it and it didn't change. One night we were there, classic rock all night long . You could just see the atmosphere was more vibrant and lively, Mix it up a bit!!! read more

Food was very mediocre. Chips cold and rice old not even fresh. Not very good at all.

Had the ham and pineapple pizza at the Pine Marten pizza truck and it wasn't very good at all. Menu said that the dough is "blistered", meaning it's burnt. To be fair, the bottom wasn't burnt but the entire crust surrounding the pie was totally burnt, which is usually my husband's favorite part. There also wasn't enough sauce on it so it was kind of dry. Don't see the value for the price since it wasn't very big either. Won't be getting again. read more

We came here twice in two days for some socially distanced meals and loved it. Rico's Tacos was great. Creamy beans, excellent salsas, soft chicken street tacos. We also scored at Pine Marten Pizza. Crunchy and soft in the middle, pepperoni and arugula pizzas were perfect. We also got a skillet cookie there that was melty and hot. Cool bar setup, nice atmosphere to hang out in, friendly bar staff.. Both hubby and I got food at the Rogue Chef (I got the BLT, he got the Oregon Cheesesteak with garlic fries). I think we each said "Mmmm, this is REALLY good!" about 4 times each ... maybe it was 5. Sorry, no photos; I was too busy enjoying the food. I am not going to talk too much about this. The place is cool and chill. This is exactly what I want back home. A cool little outdoor bar with a few food trucks. Now the issue is back home it is too cold/rainy to run something like this. They solve that by having little fire pits and fire tables all over the place. The food trucks were a nice bonus as well. I would love to see more places like this anywhere really. Great atmosphere and great beer in a chill location. Would be a solid place at the end of a summer evening to grab a few beers and talk with friends. read more
