    The Filthy Harry

The Birds the Word. I first came to The Bird in 2011 on a tour of Berlin with some local Berliners. My friends had been raving about this burger joint that's better than most in the States. I remember it being pretty good and the burger was as big as the eyes can see. Well 11 years I'm back again to see how the place is faring. To be honest, the size and quality of the burger has gone down a little from what I remember. It it's still good and filled me up. I had the Filthy Harry, a cheddar and bacon burger with a side of fries, and a local IPA to wash it down. Thanks.

I was here 8 years ago - the only thing that has changed is their fries but we still LOVE IT, maybe even more so!Hands down the most delicious and glorious burger in all the Vaterland. Last time, I brought two young Anerican kids that are traveling the World. This time, I brought two Polish friends that had never been to Berlin! Of course, our first stop was here at The Bird. We made a reservation (highly recommended) for opening time. Due to traffic we were late by 1/2 hour but we called at opening to advice and they thanked us and saved our table. Still, after 8 years of staff changes, the service and cooking remains above par. We are Birds for life! Thank you everyone at The Bird Berlin for your amazing and steady deliciousness! After 8 years, not many restaurants can say that, especially through surviving the PAN! Congratulations and see you again soon!

WTF ??? Who sells tosties as burger buns ??? That was by far the worst experience in the burger segment of my entire life. I would like to give -3 stars for this culinary atrocity. The unfriendly service comes on top. Never again my friends. WTF??? Wer verkauft Tosties als Burgerbuns??? Das war mit abstand meine schlechteste Erfahrung im Burgersegment meines ganzen Lebens. Für diese kulinarische Greueltat würde ich am liebsten -3 Sterne geben. Der unfreundliche Service kommt noch "on top" Never ever again meine Freunde.

Went here with my sister on a Sunday for lunch. Not crowded at all with plenty of outdoor seating available. Lucky us! We both ordered the original fried chicken sandwich with a side of curly fries. It's such a beautiful looking chicken sandwich! Bread is soft and fluffy. The chicken is HUGE. It's very flavorful, very juicy, and not too much batter, which I like. The coleslaw adds a nice crunch, but the star really is the bird. The curly fries were good, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Pairs well with their ranch. Wish I had taken more pic, but I was too hungry and it looked so good, I couldn't even bother to snap much. Great spot for a quick bite to eat in the city! It's nearby Union Square and we were able to enjoy the music being played there. Definitely want to come back to try the other chicken items on their menu!

Delicious burger, not sure about the English muffin bun but given how thick the beef patty is, it's probably a good thing so you can actually bite into it. Sat at the bar, staff was friendly enough but not super attentive. Yelp says that they are cash only but they do accept credit cards.

My favorite burger joint in all of Europe. I cannot stress this point enough. I have moved back to the United States, and I long for this burger. Who knew I'd find such an amazing burger in Berlin, of all places??? It's Berlin. Anything is possible. Please make sure to get a reservation. They will definitely fill up. The meat is flown in from the US, and it is fantastic. You'll be back again and again. It's served on an English muffin. Sounds weird. Tastes amazing.

IPA in Germany from New York?

We had had curry dogs and goulash, so when my daughter-in-law said we had to have a hamburger I figured it would be a typical German restaurant that she had in mind--but no--not at all...but it was one of the best burgers I have ever had. We walked from our hotel and it was a lot further than we thought but when we got there we were so happy! We came in and the hostess asked us if we had reservations... Reservations at a burger joint? Who does that? Well they do and that is the best tip that I can give you. Call or email. (They take email reservations from out of the country, WOW!) She told us they were booked through 11pm. I thought that meant for the night, but I guess they close at midnight... My daughter-in-law said she HAD to eat here, so she went to talk to the hostess. She finally said if we came back in a half hour or so, she would seat us. We went to the Mexican restaurant on the corner and had a drink (G & Ts came with Pineapple instead of lime--lime seemed to be in short supply throughout Czech Republic and Germany. The margarita looked more like a martini but was rather good...) They sat us soon after we came back. Our waiter was from England and she had a great sense of humor and the food was to die for. Everyone chose a different burger and my husband had chili and cheese on his fries as well. We ordered a pitcher of dark wheat beer and a bottle of Brooklyn IPA for me. They had a fun, interesting beer list and an amazing burger list. It was a truly fun night and I am glad my daughter-in-law was persistent. (We took a taxi back to the hotel then probably walked as far backwards looking for a bar called G & T that ended up being closed for a private party. We worked off the burgers anyhow, lol.) If you come to Berlin, this place should be on your list, but definitely call or email for a reservation well in advance.

    650g NY Strip.

Very very busy and popular place, so DEFINITELY make a reservation... and even then you'll be stood around waiting for a bit! I ordered a burger which was very tasty, but a bit too thick in my opinion. The fries were okay but I couldn't eat a lot of them. Partner ordered a NY Strip in "500g" as recommended, but a server told us they had a 650g one in the kitchen which wouldn't need cutting if we wanted it, but for the 600g price... turned out this was a 22oz steak, and again, very very thick. It was tasty, and cooked as desired, but a bit too thick to eat it properly in an enjoyable way. The staff were very friendly but a little inattentive unless you went out of your way to get their attention, as they were very busy, (ie, after waiting to get someone's eye so we could get a menu after finally being seated, we gave up and went and found one ourselves after about 10 minutes). The venue itself is small but cosy and has a very good atmosphere. The menus are presented in a detailed and fun way, including the lines "at least try eating the burger with your damn hands!" and "and for God's sake, don't order your meat well done!", all a bit tongue in cheek, but fun. It's quite a walk from the nearest U-Bahn or S-Bahn though, so take a map! Only thing is, it was pretty expensive! The steak (although a big bugger) was 48 Euro! Ouch! It was a nice place to visit once, but we probably wouldn't go out of our way to go again (not that we'd be adverse to a return).

I've been there twice since I moved to Berlin and I think this is the best burger place here in BERLIN. You should try the big crack and da birdhouse. The prices are good for the burgers 12.5€ and it comes with fries. I REALLY RECOMMEND THIS BURGER PLACE

No need to mince words - this is one hell of a burger joint. I was torn internally about my first burger being from the griddle or the grill, but in the end I chose the signature "Da Birdhouse", which of course was a brilliant decision. The meat was absolutely perfect. A cool medium rare with tons of juice and flavor in a course grind. The best of the best. Not to be outdone by the burgers, the accompanying spuds were also pretty fantastic. The burgers are so fantastically large you don't really need them, but they're still nice to have. Crispy and irregularly cut, they have a unique taste (perhaps a beer batter?) that kept me nibbling way after I'd professed that I was "stuffed". Like most other reviewers have mentioned, a reservation is essential if you want a table. Further, don't count on a day-of reservation, unless you plan on eatting after 10pm. If, like me, you do try (and fail) to book a table, you can sit outside or at the bar, but it goes quickly. I got there less than five minutes after they opened and the outdoor seats were already packed. Luckily, I managed to snag the last two neighboring seats at the bar. Sure, you can walk in anytime and hopefully grab an open seat, but if you want to eat early you better get there right when they open. Finally, while The Bird doesn't cost more than other burger joints in Europe, for Berlin it's pretty expensive. I've found you can get primary eats in Berlin for € 5 or less, whereas here the base burger starts at € 9.50. But who cares? It's fucking delicious and worth every penny. Basically, come here and eat burgers.

Only been to this location. I love it! Usually 7 different servers will serve you throughout your meal, which I am not a fan of. But the food is SO good. We chose the birdhouse which is full of good stuff. I added an egg which made it brunchy-ish. YUM. They got our orders wrong once and overcooked the burgers as well, but that was one time out of 5 other succesfull visits. Wings are awesome! Wish they had milkshakes like a proper American burger place. I love the fries, and the meat is very good. Not a fan of the 'bun'. But you MUST leave room for cheesecake. And I don't even like cheesecakes but OMG. GOOGLE TRANSLATE DE- Nur einmal an diesem Ort.

The signature umami burger for 7.90€ is absolute bomb. Nice soft sweet butter brioche bun with two thin sliced black angus beef patty's on a slight spicy wasabi kind of mayonnaise. It was good! You can't go wrong with burger here! The umami meatless for 7.50 tasted slightly different because the beef makes a lot of difference. The patty is more bean flavored. Overall the burgers are great but heavy and greasy! What we'd skip next time: The pho was good but not outstanding. 9.90€ is slightly higher priced than other spots in Berlin. Same for the bun cha lot 9.90€. Dau Sot Ca for 5€ could be entire dish by itself that lacked in flavor where you could taste the tomato ketchup in the sauce. For 5€ it's a good deal. The chicken nuggets karaage for 5.50€ were crispy, crunchy and soft, served in a sweet sour sauce which was good! Overall: we love this place because of the owners attitude to help his parents and fulfill his dreams. This place is Definitely not a tourist trap although it's customers are mostly tourists. Momo tavern used to be ranked on #1 on TripAdvisor and when it comes to there burgers - it's definitely worth a visit. The patties are clearly pre-formed and the weakest part of their offering, but they grill them up nice with a proper amount of char, and then ladle on the delicious toppings. Colleen C. has the right of it on ordering; you go in and order from the grill first. Don't worry about drinks or anything. They don't care. Just let them know what they need to cook up. Then grab your drinks, find a seat and wait for your order to be yelled out. Return your plates at the end (there are tiny bins scattered around) and pay by letting them know what you had, drinks and all. Burgers are cheap (3-6 EUR) and each menu option has a "baby" variant that's a bit smaller and about a Euro cheaper. Sides (fries, wedges) are 1-2 EUR and giant bottles of ketchup and mayo come gratis. The "chili-cheeseburger", which like most places in Berlin, isn't American chili but rather a *spicy* burger with jalapeños, cheese spread and a spicy red sauce. It's a tasty, gooey mess. The wedges are also pretty satisfying. If you opt for the sour cream, know that it's more like an herb cheese dip than sour cream. Still good, but different than what I was expecting. A full meal (burger, side, drink) should set you back no more than 9 EUR.
