Man this place is a dump and it doesn't try to be anything different. Located in a nasty bohemian ghetto a la the East Village in the 1970's, this hole in the wall sells greasy burgers in a grungy tiny room with only a couple bar stools and a couple benches out front. They don't sell liquor, but you can buy beers next door and bring them over and the burger joint will return the glasses for you. Just make sure you speak German at the bar, cause they don't speak English. This place was recommended by a local punk rocker my Swiss friend knows. I had high hopes, and the burgers were fresh enough and large enough. But as soon as you get done eating you feel greasy and gross inside. I don't know. Maybe it hits the spot after a night of drinking before you go home. It certainly had enough local business. I didn't think much of it, nor did anyone I took with me. I've come here since 2017 and never disappoints. I always get the chili cheese fries but everything always looks amazing. When I came in 2019 there was a very rude worker but today I had such a pleasant experience and the food was as good as always. Will continue to keep coming back. read more

Its super small inside and have few tables outside, so its very intimate to eat these huge burgers in front of strangers :) I've tried the BBQ Burger, it was quite good, with Bulgarian feta inside, caramelized onions and greens on top of the beef patty. Stopped by on the recommendation of my burger-obsessed flatmate. Their (monthly) special, the Godzillarin came with a kimchi slaw, chili mayo, wasabi peas, and fried wonton skins (like chips). The second I bit into the burger, I exclaimed "this makes so much sense!" The wasabi peas added a nose-stinging punch (in a good way), the crispy wonton skins added nice texture, and the pickled kimchi slaw was a perfect contrast to the meat. I've never had a burger with this combination, it worked well, so 5 stars! Note: the beef patty was a bit well-done, my only complaint to an otherwise inventive and tasty burger. read more

Even though the poor guy working there was clearly hung over as hell, he managed to provide a great service. He didn't charge for our beverages as an apology for opening 20 minutes late (probably due to the suspected hangover). I felt sorry for the guy; Imagine working in one of Berlin's loudest and busiest burger-joints after a hard night out. Despite this, he managed to smile, yell peoples names impressively loud, and even singing along to the eternal classics like "Funky town" blasting from the speakers. Anyway: Really good burgers, and possibly the best chili-cheese fries of my life (and there has, sadly, been a lot). They make them with sweet potatoes! It's crazy busy, so you might have a wait to get your burger, but it will be worth it. AMAZING vegetarian burger and sweet potato chips. Not super cheap but I'd gladly pay more and have a delicious burger than cheap tasteless one. The paddy is made with lots of love, so many different ingredients that I don't know where to begin. You will be very full and satisfied when leaving this place. Prepare for a loooong queue. It took a us two years to eat here, because the queue was always Massive! Now we understand why the queue is always huge. We ended up happily queuing two days in a row, because they were that good. We stayed in Potsdamer Platz area so all we had to do was take M41 bus for 12 minutes and were right there. The Burgers here are really pretty to look at as it is packed with condiments making the burgers very high and difficult to eat. The pattys usually are nicely pink and made medium if you dont tell them otherwise. The meat flavor is decent but the pattys are to compact and a bit overworked for my liking. If you are a fan of tons of lettuce and condiments on your burger, this is probably something for you. They have really tasty sweet potato chili cheese fries that should not be missed. Prices are normal for Berlin and nothing to complain about. Service is very friendly. Something to be aware of is that its a super-tiny Place wich is not a problem during the summer when you can eat outside. When we where here the last time in Dec it was crazy Cold and the door was hold open so it was not a very nice experience. I would say there are better options for a burger in Berlin like The Bird or Tommis for example but my wife thinks this Place is 5 stars so we tend to go here anyway......ha ha. read more

Huge burgers for sure. I got the veggie and it was amazing but super messy. I would not recommend going here on a first date or if you want to look like a normal human at mealtime. My husband's burger had so much going on that he said it was too much - which is rare for him to say about a burger. But it's definitely a fun experience and the atmosphere - though small and very hole in the wall - is a lot of fun. It literally takes 15 minutes navigating your way through the excessive layers of ingredients that go into these burgers. And after you've done this (now covered in condiments and burger remnants everywhere) the overall taste just doesn't justify the struggle to actually eat the burger in the first place. In general, the separate elements of the burgers are good: juicy meat, good cheese, fresh salad etc.. but when combined together it becomes too much, each layer almost indistinguishable from the next. I do not understand the excessive ingredients when in the end it all tastes like bbq sauce, anyway. As a true burger lover, simplicity is usually key. After a love fest with BBI, our love has waned. Limited seating, ridiculously long waits, and hispters galore we were ready to wade through. But last night was really too much. We arrived around 19 to the usually line and waited to get to the front. Stacks of buns with toppings were waiting for the burger to be grilled. Not appetizing seeing the lettuce wilt and buns become soft. Informed it would be a 40 min wait (for 2 burgers!) we inwardly groaned & said fine. ordering the special, we were informed there was no guacamole, but there was avocado. Wait - what? Just mash those up idle workers! Reluctantly, we said ok. I then ordered a chicken burger. No chicken. Ok - hamburger. Potato wedges. Also out. Are you kidding? I found this place randomly as I was renting a room nearby, and as I love burgers and it looked popular I had to give it a try. Nondescript bun, gas-grilled (for that burnt fat odour and taste that some people think resembles charcoal smoke) patty, reasonably fresh but not really tasty lettuce. Why the local hipsters flock to the place is beyond me, but the overcrowding and resulting wait doesn't exactly add to the experience. Absolutely the best burger I've had in my life. The place is really small (only 6-ish seats inside) but very hip and retro (you can even play the old nintendo). Not quite sure what I think about this place. Granted, this is my first burger since I moved to Berlin, so I might have to update this review after I've tried Burgermeister, The Bird, Tiki Heart, etc... But we trekked over to this spot. It is indeed, extremely tiny. 7 seats along the wall, a little cubby corner spot, and 3 seats outside; this restaurant was the width of our bedroom. I confidently ordered a barbecue bacon cheeseburger and my boyfriend ordered a cheeseburger. We tried to get a side of chili cheese fries, but the dude behind the counter talked us out of it. Super weird? He said it was too big. It's true. My boyfriend and I are on the smaller side, but still! 'Tis size discrimination. We settled on regular fries instead. We also tried to find two regular Cokes behind their massive display of soda, but alas, couldn't find them. Our order was rung and came up a little under 20€. Not a bad deal. Our burgers were HUGE. Seriously, massive. They are messy and topped with a whole fistful of salad, which for kids like me, aren't welcome. The burger also came with feta cheese, which was also a surprise. The barbecue sauce was kind of tangy and very watery. But despite this, it was a good quality and slightly toasted but which withheld its shape. It didn't get soggy or fall apart, which I thought was pretty cool despite the size of the burger and its condiments. There was also a taste in the burger that I wasn't familiar with in the beginning, but nailed it towards my last bites. Rosemary. They add a pinch of rosemary to the meat, which is cool and all but again, not what I was expecting. It was a good burger but not the kind of place for me. If we were back in San Francisco or New York, I doubt I'd ever come back here again (I'm a big fan of greasy, meaty diner-style American cheesy cheeseburgers). But with all the horror stories I've heard of German burgers, I might come back because there are no other options. read more

I was going to write a lengthy introduction about my approach to burgers, but the point of this review is pretty straightforward: go eat at Berlinburger International. Like, go *now*. I've eaten the best burger in my life in this place and believe me, I've eaten some pretty sweet burgers. Went for the rather classic BBQ-Burger and it was pure perfection. The bun was crispy, but not too crispy; beef was done, but not too dry; biting through bacon didn't remind me of chewing gum, like burgers often do; vegetables had a fresh taste to them. Above all, the sauce was just outworldly tasty and poured in perfect balance to the rest of the ingredients, which means it didn't leak through the bun, didn't turn it wet. This burger deserved a poem. Additionally I ordered their chilli-cheese fries, which were also very tasty and a welcome change to the usually boring fries offered in most burger places. The only downside was... the queue, we've had to wait for about 15-20 minutes to order and another 20-ish for the burgers themselves. On the other hand, that in itself should be a good recommendation. Visiting Berlin? Put BBI in your itinerary. read more

Outstanding burgers but expect to wait in line! We did the mistake of visit during a Saturday night and queued for 2 hours, 1 hour to order and 1 to get our takeaway (minimum seating). But it was worth it. The flavors were amazing, the meat-bun-topping ratio was perfect and the sweet potato fries (yes they have them!) were crispy. Overall, a very positive experience but I would like and hope that they fix that queuing system, it was awful! My favorite burgers in Berlin so far - large, in charge, and delicious. The actual patty and bun size aren't overwhelmingly huge (thank goodness, I think some Berlin burger joints over do it for the sake of notoriety) but loaded with toppings. I thoroughly enjoyed my cheeseburger w/ jalapenos and my husband also enjoyed his Mexican-style burger, which was one of the specials that day. My burger came with a big ol' pile of jalapenos under the bun so I was a very happy American! And my husband's burger had an insane amount of guac & other toppings for only about 1.50 euro more than the standard burgers. The burgers have way too much salad to fit in any normal human's mouth - I just pushed some of mine off and ate it as a mini side salad. :) The potato wedges are also amazing! Although you should only order them if you are really, really hungry, like we were. The location is a little odd and could be hard to find if you aren't looking carefully. The inside is very small and there isn't much seating indoors or out so try to go when it might be less crowded! We went on a cold Thursday holiday and got lucky with the wait time and seating but by the time we left there was a line out the door. The prices are lower than some other more "upscale" (i.e. good quality beef and unique burgers) burger places in the area. I am looking forward to my next visit! read more

Lamb in a burger? Come on. This place has got a great reputation, but I never went back after a single visit. I guess you could call me a burger purist, but I do not find adding lamb to a burger mixture an improvement. Either BBI is onto something that the rest of the world simply hasn't figured out, or Berliners just can't seem to decipher what a proper burger tastes like. My money is on the latter. read more

On a grey cloudy day here in Berlin I decided to check out ... BBI-Berlinburger International today ! Living in the western part of the city I embarked on an incredible journey on the M29 - bus to it's next to the last stop in the eastern part of the city at the Sonnenalle / Pannierstrasse stop. There you step off the bus and just smack across the street is this small quaint actual "hole in the wall" place serving up the most awesome and tasty beef burgers right off the grill. Piled high with all the fixins on a sesame seed bun will delight anyone longing for a real burger !! Also, the pommes ( potato wedges ) and the sweet potato fries are a great add on to any of the homemade burger offerings ! Hey, they even turn out a great Veggie-Burger with a mango-curry sauce for those not into the meat diet. As I mentioned earlier it is set in a side entrance ( former servants entrance ) to an old pre-1930's building so space and casual dining is not it's great attribute, but the experience of having a great burger and those awesome chili fries would well be worth it anytime ! The interior with it's high ceiling and rough exposed brick walls has it's own charm from the many tracks of graffiti left by the many customers needing something to do while waiting for their order up ! No matter when you arrive or when you place your order it still takes approx. 15 - 20 minutes before they call your name ! ... This is not your typical fast food joint ! The walk up to the counter to place your order is right next to the soda pop cooler and the staff is very helpful and assertive with a friendly smile as well as speaking English for those of us who still seem to stumble with the German language. I had the Flash Gorogozola. I liked all the flavors and all the ingredients were very fresh. Despite being a tad pricey, the portion size is enormous. I also had the chili fries. I probably ate about 10% of the chili fries and I ate about 70% of the burger and was completely full. Plan to go with someone to help you finish your meal! The chili cheese fries were good but needed more cheese (I did not see any cheese slices on it). The chili itself was very well made and comparable to other good chilis I've had in the States. Meat quality was very good and all of the toppings were excellent. Best part of the burger was the beef drippings mixing with melted gorgonzola bits, lettuce and aoili. Soo gooood! read more

Found myself in Neukolln today, so I decided to finally head over to BBI. I ordered a cheeseburger which in itself was just okay. The meat was a bit over salted, but the freshness of the other accoutrements (lettuce/tomato/onion) kind of made up for this. Kind of. But what really made up for the saltiness of the meat was that the potato wedges were super delicious and well-seasoned. I mean, they were really, really good. Order them. Now. They were so good, I'd trek all the way back to BBI just for the potato wedges. On top of the awesome wedges, the guys working behind the counter called me "Joy Division" when my order was ready and then said with every pun intended, "We hope you enJOY your food." and then started giggling, which was quite adorkable and made me smile. I'm very sorry to say that I was very disapointed by the terrible burger here. My boyfriend do not agree with me, but he had the bbq burger and I had the plain cheese burger. Or should I say majo and mustard burger, because that's all you taste. Less is not more obvioulsy. The fries was boring, and after eating my way through burger with dry meat, dry bread and only tasting mustard and majo, I have to say that the black hair I found inside the meat really made my day.
