I really loved this place. I'm from California but I can honestly say this was the best veggie burger I've ever had. For fellow Californians, it reminds me of In & Out but waaaay BETTER! My veggie burger had mushrooms and bbq sauce on it. The mushrooms were thick and juicy! I would have added jalapeños but it would have been an extra cost. This is the best burger I have had in the Berlin area during the 5 months I've been here. What makes it so good? It is a perfect recreation of a greasy American Diner Burger! Juicy patty. Delicious. Perfect soft bun that is still strong enough to not fall apart mid way through eating. Fresh ingredients. And the meat is light, tender, and has a clean delicious flavor. . What I mean by that is, almost every burger I have had in Berlin is over formed and squeezed together like a hockey puck. Overworking the ground beef and packing it too hard will result in a dense and tough burger. This will also cause the meat to be chewy and imparts an odd flavor. The Burgermeister staff have single handedly saved the Berlin Burger reputation as far as I'm concerned. Parking can be in issue. But it's worth the search. It's located in the middle of the street. I mean that literally. It separates the opposite direction of traffic. So don't miss it. If you have a desire for a real American style diner burger, the kind you crave after you've left, this is the place for you. So bummed it took me 5 months to try it. While it's easy to get amazing bratwurst or shawarma anywhere in Berlin, a high quality burger piled with fresh toppings is a rare find in any city. I saw this place on Yelp and when I asked the owner of our hostel if she knew anything about it, I was greeted to an extremely enthusiastic yes. She said all Berliners go crazy for Burgermeister, and recommended that we go to this location because the lines tend to be slightly less crowded here. I got a bacon cheeseburger with cheese fries and I could eat that combo every day and be very very happy. The Burgermeister's name is really well known in Berlin, I am glad they are now also has one in the Kottbusser Tor. The location of this restaurant is great, quite easy to find. The design of the restaurant did remind me some bathroom. I guess they kinda did it on purpose. Beside that, it just got a really simply look. Not much to says about it. I went there with my colleagues together, and gave the Hausmeister a try. It tasted really great. The potion of the burger was totally enough for me as lunch. The price was alright, so even still hungry, it would not be problem to order the second one. I was looking forward to coming here even before we arrived in Berlin! The cheeseburgers were made just right, not oily like other burgers I've had and the cheese didn't taste artificial. For only 4.5 euros, these were pretty yummy burgers!!! The guy at the counter got our order wrong and gave us an extra cheeseburger instead of the chilli fries with jalapeños but that was fixed up quickly. The fries were also really good! As someone from the US and has had plenty of top rated burgers all over the country, I think I can safely say I'm qualified to rate a burger joint in Berlin, Germany. That being said, I would have to say this burger is a tad bit overrated based on the reviews you'll read. The burger it pretty small (maybe it's just the huge US appetite in me talking) but mostly the burger was kind of just bland to me. We actually made a trek out to this part of town to get a burger simply because, well, burger. This place is simply a perfect stop and go burger joint. The tiled walls makes you feel like you're eating in an old bathhouse or laboratory or something, but has a really Berlin feel if that makes any sense. The music was blaring (great tunes btw) and we ran up front to order. The menu is simple, positioned up on the counter next to the cashier. Just run up and place your order, but make sure to hold on to your ticket as you will need it to give after once your order is up on the pass (I threw mine away.. force of habit :| ) We both got the Burgermeister and a beer with a side of fries, and were so happy with our choice. The beef was seasoned perfectly, came hot off the grill, with fresh lettuce and tomato. The bun was 'da real MVP' though.. buttery and soft, but tough enough to not break under the weight.. a true burger bun. The fries were good, but not great, hence the one less star. Best Berlin burger! I come here often and get the chili cheeseburger. It's the only place in the city whose burgers I crave. There's usually good rock music playing and the staff is awesome too. They re-did my order when I accidentally said the wrong thing (not many places in Berlin will do that, or at least not without yelling at you first). A couple minor suggestions for improvement: -Sometimes the fries only have cheese in one little area and not spread around -You could really decorate the place a little better. I've been to the original location only once because I can't stand a queue. I decided to try the new location because even if there were a queue, I could at least stand inside. It was a spur of the moment decision, so I only ordered the fries. They were awful. They had the strangest texture as if the potatoes had been dehydrated before frying. They fell apart in block-like chunks. Thankfully customers are able to serve their own ketchup and mayo. The interior itself is great. Super clean with plenty of seating and even a bathroom. I prefer this sit-down location compared to the other outdoor, stand-up one. CLOSEST BURGER YOU'LL GET TO IN-N-Out Burger from the U.S. Which means it's one of my favorite burger places.
