Visited Shiso Burger for lunch on a weekday and we were able to get a table right away. The concept is an Asian fusion mix with burgers in bao buns. All the burger combos were really tempting but went with a classic one , and it was delicious! The edamame and fries were also of the highest quality and came with a delicious wasabi mayo to bring those Asian flavors to a traditional French fry and make it even better. The menu is pretty extensive and they have a good variety of burgers and sides. I got the chili lemon burger, homemade fries, and the shiso lemonade. Everything was super delicious! Came here for a late lunch, had the Shiso burger with fries and a Lychee limeade. The staff were super friendly and the place was super clean and casual. Very expat and foreigner friendly. The burger was juicy and delicious, portion sizing was very reasonable for a quick meal. Fries were even better, and the lychee limeade was unique and also very good. We came to this place after hearing about it on food blogs. The restaurant was super popping when we arrived, and we had to be seated inside if we didn't want to wait. The potatoes on a stick were kind of disappointing though, and though it's unfair for me to compare it to the ones in Taiwan, it was completely inferior. They were kind of cold when they came out, and were fried unevenly so that some parts were overfried and some parts rubbery. The ketchup/mayo that came with it was in a tiny container, and was definitely not enough for two sticks. I ended up only eating one, and a friend helped me eat the other (with no ketchup). Overall, it was a really good experience. The decor and atmosphere was hip and nicely lit. It was in a nice area in Mitte and deserved all the hype, if a little pricey for what it was. Along with the bulgogi was the sweetness of the teriyaki sauce, but there was also a little spicy kick in the sauce. The bun was soft and yummy and it came out piping hot which made the burger melt in your mouth. I highly recommend adding the cheese to the burger because it just takes it over the top. We also ordered the sweet potato fries which were tasty and crispy. It comes with mayo and ketchup. For drinks we ordered one diet coke and a ginger, honey, and lime tea. Asian fusion burgers, what's not to love!? I really like the light buns making the burger almost seem like a healthy meal. Both salmon and tuna burger are equally delicious, but the tuna one is a little more pricey, and I'm not really sure if it's worth the extra couple of Euros. As a side kick I like to order the sweet potato fries, again making the meal seem healthy(ish), and a glass of the lychee lemonade: a perfect mix of sweet and sour. If I were rating only the burger (Bulgogi with cheese) based on one bite, then I would give 5 stars. The flavors are there, and they are well balanced. However, there is more to a review than just one bite. Sign at the host stand indicated "wait here to be seated inside" so I wait. The hosts/waiters were, however too busy talking (read: flirting) with two young women than they were taking care of other customers. There is nothing wrong with a little mutual flirting, maybe a little unprofessional, but the flirting isn't my issue. My issue is when I, as a customer, have to wait for around 5 minutes while they finally realize "hey wait, there's a really hangry (hungry + angry, to those of you who don't know) looking guy at the host stand, maybe he should be seated?" Thankfully, since I was seated when the flirting had stopped, service became more professional and efficient after this point. Thankfully, from the looks of it, the kitchen is a much better-oiled operation than the front of the house. Burger and fries came out piping hot! Fries were a little oily, which was just enough to add good flavor. Burger was good. The marinated beef was delicious. It seemed to be more chopped than ground. While I did like this touch, my issue is that the party could have stuck together a little more, and that there were some spices of fat that made it parts very chewy. Sauces, vegetables, and bun were all in balance, with nothing overwhelming anything else. But the burger was very small. I realize prices here are not outrageous, but I would have liked a burger that leaves me satisfied. Let me just put it this way, if you come really hungry, order two burgers. Stick with one fry though, the portion there is fine. My burger craving was satisfied, my hunger remained. They also have Augustiner beer! They have Weiß and Helles, but not Dunkel. I LOVE this place- my friends who visited Berlin recommended it to me and I'm glad I stopped by to check it out (in the end of March). I went around 8pm and it was super busy. You can tell how popular it is with locals and tourists alike. I recommend that you make a reservation, because it took a while for us to be seated with just two of us, and when a group of four came in saying they hadn't made a reservation, a server made a face as if that was a bad idea. The group was told that they would have to wait about 30 minutes. I got the bulgogi burger, which was super delicious! The meat was cooked perfectly. But my favorite part about their burgers is the bread; it's soft and almost mochi-like. I also tasted the ebi and shiso burger my boyfriend bought and they were just as good. One hour later we returned, because we really wanted to try the fries and also have a beer. By now the place was no longer as crowded as before and multiple tables were free. After taking our order (3 beer and 2 packs of fries) the waitress returned and told us, in the most impolite manner: "next time if you don't eat more, you shouldn't come anymore. My supervisor just told me that it is not ok to occupy a table just for some beer and fries." This is the most rude thing that has even happened to me in Berlin.
