Well located, not very noisy (for a restaurant that is located right at the avenue. The steaks are great. Big portions. The service is good but not outstanding.

It's no Ruth Chris or Morton's but by golly it's pretty decent "American" fare. I'd say it's like a Black Angus or Ruby Tuesday, an upscale coffee shop which features steaks, served with a house salad, baked potato with their "house" sour cream and a hunk of garlic bread. The American dressing for the salad was more like 1000 island, while the French was more like Ranch dressing. Go figure. I had the rib eye and my server thought I said Well instead of Rare. No biggie, it got sent back and came back perfectly cooked, piping hot!! The steak was tender but a tad salty from their seasoning. I devoured it anyway. Stephen had the special prime and it looked as tender as it tasted. He finished his meal as well. Quite honestly I can't find fault with our meal. My steak was €20,50 which is no different than what I pay in SoCal. I did sub the sour cream for the herb butter, and was glad I did. The German sour cream is thick, and not as creamy as the US version. I would recommend this place and would come back too.

There are several of these places scattered around Berlin, which had me scared off at first. I didn't want to dine at the Applebees of Germany. I prefer something local. It is hard to avoid the smokey meat smell of the place, which is a good thing. The ribeye special was perfect for what we were looking for... salad, bread, steak, and beer. It wasn't over the top great, but the food was pretty darn good. Tip: When walking around the Berlin TV Tower, there aren't too many options open throughout the day. This place fills the need of meat, beer, and a nice street view. Negative- German chain restaurant.

Th "NY" cheeseburger. Where is the bun? There ain't one!

Skip it. If you are an American, definitely skip it. I ordered a NY cheeseburger. I've been to NY and I can tell you that no place in NY serves a burger open face on French bread. The French fries were hot but were skinny little shoestring fries. Finally, the coleslaw. A serving of coleslaw is bigger than a tablespoon. Overall I was very disappointed. I came there hungry and not with great expectations. The mark was set low and The Block House did nothing to raise it. Finally, I have been living in Germany for 3 years. I am familiar with how tipping is done here. My German sucks and I'm just not comfortable enough to order everything in German. Plus it's just easier for me to speak English. Twice I have had servers "remind" me by hand writing that the tip is not included or that tip is 10%. For the Americans out there please understand that there is no standard 10 or 15% tip in Europe. The custom here is to round the bill up to the nearest €5 amount. Don't let servers here guilt you into more. They get paid better than servers in the US and tips are not expected or counted towards their wages.

Food was actually really good , great steak 250g, baked potato and garlic bread. It was all very good , I was impressed at how tasty and juicy the steak was . Little pricy but that's ok

This was the first restaurant my fiance and I went to in Germany and it made us hold our standards high. It was nice that they had the menu in three different languages. The food was outstanding. I had the filet and it was so tender and juicy. BEST POTATO I EVER HAD. Their sour cream is to die for and nobody has sour cream like that here in the states so it's quite disappointing. Even down to the garlic bread it was amazing. We stayed in Germany for 4 days and we ate here twice because it was that good.

Not so expensive. Good food. Delicious meat. Was missing some good meat in my days in Berlin.

No nonsense steak place with a good range of cuts of cow on offer in well sized portions. Efficient and polite staff.

After a lot of schnitzel in Munich, I was ready for a change of pace in Berlin so I searched Yelp…read morefor a steakhouse where I could get a nice ribeye and Block House showed up as a place that was highly rated as well as super close to my hotel! I came in around 6:00 and it was starting to fill up. Rather than take a table, I sat at the bar near the front which had about six or seven seats. I got a beer right away and because I'd looked at the menu online (they have an English menu on their website) I knew I wanted the rib eye master cut. The steak came with a salad, which was good (although heavy on the raw onions, luckily I wasn't kissing anyone later) as well as a baked potato and garlic bread. The master cut comes with freshly grated horseradish that really added an extra boost to the already flavorful rib eye. The steak was tender and even though rib eyes are by nature fatty, this one had the flavor without too much extra fat. I liked it a lot. I also liked the extra sour cream they provided and ate every last drop! The waiter convinced me to order some chocolate lava cake for dessert and it was also good. In the US, they usually serve cake like that with a raspberry sauce and I'm just not a fan of raspberries. However, this came with a blueberry sauce which was perfect. The best thing is that for a beer, a big bottle of sparkling water, the steak and the cake, my total bill was €43 or just under $50 and that is what I would have paid for just the steak back in NYC. The service was also very friendly...maybe they get a lot of tourists or something but it was probably the friendliest service I had in all of Germany. I'm a big fan of the Block House!

This is a stake house and it is very pricey for German restaurants. Steak prices are the same as…read morein the US at this place. In fact you might end up better in the US. However, their steak burgers and their local beef they use are amazing. Also their French onion soup on the appetizer side was very good (not the best i had in Germany). Steaks are good, but not goid enough for what you pay. This place is always busy at the Alexanderplatz due to international foot traffic. There are other lical options in the area where you can eat a good dinner for less than half. Try Schloegl nearby for outstanding local fare for under 15 Euroes with tip.

We "splurged" on our last night in Berlin, although it was inexpensive in comparison to places like Mastros and Del Frisco's in the US. That said, the gentleman's cut was rather fatty, but being that I am on a ketogenic diet, no complaints from me. The 400 gram gentleman's cut was enough for two to share considering we ordered three side dishes and a side salad. We were stuffed by the end of our meal - the most satisfying meal we had all week. I mean, really...how many crispy pork knuckles and schnitzels can one person eat before giving up on life? The steak was a nice treat because I was more than ready to switch things up. The steak was perfectly seasoned and a perfect medium rare. All the sides were well prepared. I did sneak in a bite of my mom's rosemary potatoes just because I had to be able to comment on them - they were delish but something I would pass up on and opt for the mushrooms instead because the mushrooms were FANTASTIC. I also have to note that the olive oil that is served with the bread is incredible. Made me wanna eat the bread but I refrained and lived vicariously through my mom. Seems like such a simple thing but having quality olive oil that is lemon-garlic infused makes a difference between ehhhh and mmmmmmmm. Only dessert option was Crema brûlée which I can't eat due to an egg allergy, so that was a bummer. We were a little annoyed that people who got seated after us received their food well before us, but the waiter rationalized it by the size of our steak...I don't know if I buy it. But, fine whatever. Service in general was pretty slow but I think that's just a German thing. We waited over thirty minutes for our bill once we were done eating. I recommend making reservations as many walk-ins were turned away. 1 glass of wine + 2 cups of tea + 1 400g steak + 4 sides = $70+ before tip. I would say, that's an affordable steak dinner.

This is a hidden gem. -Location: Close enough to…read moreAlexanderplatz but far enough from its noise. -Decor: upscale and quiet. Quite romantic. Please do not let the cow statue at the door give you a bad impression. I misjudged it. -Service: very attentive -Flavors: although it is mostly a steakhouse, even vegetarians will be satisfied. We had Argentine steak as main courses and sides of risotto, potato gratin, french fries and a salad (for the diet ). Food was very very tasty. Risotto was good, despite being made in a steakhouse . Portions were of decent size. -Prices: on the higher side from what I have paid in Berlin. If you are coming from the USA, pricing is moderate by Miami or San Diego standards, but you are getting a much better product here. -Why not 5 stars? The creme brulee. Great texture but not sweet enough (a little bland). Would return on my next trip to Berlin
