DO NOT MOVE HERE. This is by far the worst apartment I've ever lived in. Listen to the other negative reviews on here. This place is INFESTED WITH BED BUGS and GERMAN COCKROACHES. I lived in Building 4, and you could see cockroaches in the hallways. I got bed bugs in my couch and my bed. And I know I wasn't alone, a neighbor in my hall had them too because I heard the pest control guy knock on their door after spraying my apartment. The entire complex was completely infested while I lived there. There were always couches and mattresses out by the dumpster the entire time I lived here, which probably had all been infested with bed bugs. The apartments themselves are awful too. The walls are paper thin. I could hear the person above me's TV at all times, and I could fully hear my neighbors' conversations in my bedroom. They also charge a $45 "common area maintenance" fee, which was a joke, the property is incredibly trashy. The back area had graffiti that was never removed the entire time I lived there, and almost all the apartments in my hall had one or two missing unit numbers on their doors. While my apartment was infested with bed bugs, 3 of the 4 buildings also had every single washer on every floor burglarized. All the coin slots were completely stripped off, making the washers completely inoperable. For months, we didn't have working washing machines and the apartment complex did nothing about it. When the coin slots were finally fixed, they would be robbed again within a few days because they never changed the door code or put up cameras. Every time I called them to ask when they'd be fixed and what steps they would take to prevent them from being robbed again, they would completely stonewall me and act like I was being a nuisance. This apartment complex is managed by The Collective Glendale. They manage 5 different apartment complexes with over 500 units collectively, and they clearly do not have enough staff or just couldn't care less. For months, they were short-staffed on maintenance, and that kind of mismanagement shows through this apartment complex in every possible way. To truly showcase how awful this leasing office is, one of their leasing agents was my neighbor and lived in my hall. He was truly a terrible person. He was constantly yelling in his apartment, and one time the cops were called because he and his girlfriend were screaming at each other in the hallway and slamming their door over and over. The cops came and told him to be quiet and go back inside. Once they left, he immediately came back out, started pacing the hallway, and screamed that he was going to beat up whoever called the cops. He did this for 20 minutes before the cops were called on him again. He never got fired for this, even after having the cops called on him again on a different occasion. That alone tells you everything you need to know about this management company. I could actually go on about even more problems with this property but I don't want this review to be too long. Living here was a complete nightmare from start to finish. Do yourself a favor and find literally anywhere else to live. read more

All-in-all, this is by far the worst place I have ever lived and there is not a single day that goes by that I do not deeply regret moving here. It has cost me hundreds of dollars from pest control products to security cameras to replacing my brand-new mattress and bed frame when I finally got to move out. They break CO's Warrant of Habitability on a daily basis and should be shut down by the city. I found dozens of bed bug bites all over me less than 2 months after moving in. No matter how many times pest control comes, the endless cleaning of all of my laundry and linens, having dozens of bug traps out throughout my apartment, they always come back. I made friends with someone who lived on the 4th floor in the same building and she had them too. The entire building is infested with roaches, bed bugs, and other pests. I have to leave the drains in my bathroom and kitchen covered or I will find multiple roaches and other bugs crawling around, but they still manage to make it inside. I've spoken to management about it dozens of times and they do not care. Pest control does the bare minimum if they show up at all. After a few months pest control stopped coming. I filled out multiple reports and for 6 straight weeks nobody would come to spray my apartment. After calling, leaving voicemails, sending emails, and going in-person to the office, they finally told me they had lost their copy of the keys to my apartment and couldn't let themselves in anymore. To this day, I was never given an explanation on what happened to the keys and immediately went out to buy some cameras and asked for a change in locks. I have no idea how long the keys were missing before they finally figured out why I wasn't getting my apartment sprayed for pests. My fridge was broken for over a month before I got a replacement, and the maintenance team chose to literally drag the old fridge out and the new one in, severely scratching the floors and the new fridge. I have also filled out dozens of noise complaints about my neighbors. I am woken up multiple times a night by shouting, music playing, dogs howling, kids crying, and the sound of objects being thrown/dropped/dragged/whatever. Every night of the week, multiple times a night, and I am not a light sleeper. I bought a sound machine, a fan, and wax earplugs, all of which are not enough to compensate for the extreme noise levels. People will blast music from their cars for hours on end while drinking in the parking lots. Subsequently the lots are always filled with trash, as are the hallways, laundry room, and entryway. The maintenance crew does their best to clean up after everyone else, but it's not enough when people are throwing their dirty diapers out the laundry room window because they don't want to walk down the stairs. The stairways always reek of cigarettes and I've encountered people smoking in them many times. Half of the laundry machines are broken and the other half are disgusting. Residents will leave the doors to the building propped open and unlocked, and the doors to their apartments wide open. There are no security cameras anywhere on the property and there were several cars that were broken into in the parking lots on multiple occasions. Also the building next to mine had their Internet cables disconnected and electrical cords dangling from the roof of the 4-story building to the ground floor for several months before it was finally fixed. The pool is closed more often than not due to people bringing in glass and pets, which is against the clearly posted rules. Many of the units have cardboard and plastic bags blocking the windows, and several of the windows on the basement level are broken in. I was paying $1,150 every month for my 490 sq ft studio 1 bath apartment, in addition to $8 monthly parking free, Starry internet for $50 monthly, electric through xcel that varied, trash and water which was another ~$35 monthly, plus the required renter's insurance. Do yourself a favor and live anywhere else. read more

I live downstairs and I'm just waiting till the lease is up this place is disgusting the bedbugs the cockroaches. It's all true this year right before winter they were spraying for bugs checking for bedbugs. Had to do it like three or four different times and then they also said after I did it twice and was cleared I still had to do it or I was gonna be charged money outside my window. There is a parking lot. It literally says when you park next to the building head in parking only. but they continue to let people pull in backwards and don't do anything about it and when you live on the bottom floor like me and have your window open, that means you're waking up to a room full of carbon monoxide from an engine running outside your window fucked up, I called the tow service. The tow service says the apartment needs to enact with them to let them tow so pretty much give them permission but have they gave them permission yet? No, I'm from South Florida. I stayed in better public housing situations than this shit hole I can't wait till the lease is up. read more

Nick and Tony came less then half an hour after I had put in a work order, and was very helpful. They fixed my door, my hot water in my shower is working again and checked the water damaged due to previous flooding and made sure everything was done properly. read more

When the Birch first took over, they did not get online services set-up. So I had to give them a check. About a month later I get a call and they say they don't have a check from my roommate. I had no idea - my roommate said he paid. He said he'd stop that check and give them a new one. Three days later, I'm convinced he's lying. My only legal option was to pay his portion of the rent. When I went to the office, they knew the situation and that I was reluctantly paying for him. However, I not only had to pay his portion ($450) - I also had to pay about $400 in fees. They charged for every late day. I found this extremely unfair for a few reasons. One - if they had the online portal set-up on time, I would have known there wasn't a payment sooner. And two - they took over a month to notify me as well. Instead of seeing reason though, they just wanted to take my money. Seriously, it sucks to live with corporate management that's absurdly heartless. Stick to a human landlord. Seriously, when I handed over that huge check, I felt like these people were laughing in my face at my pain, that's just how rude they were. And when they finally did have the online portal set-up! They were complete idiots when I tried to say "I can't make two separate payments." I had to have my roommate give me money before I could send one payment online. They've figured it out since then, but it was still a pain. The portal is still terrible. Get a new web developer. Update: This apartment management has also managed to lose my mail twice. A third time, I was told from the mail office that THE APARTMENT MANAGEMENT had turned my mail away. When I called, I was IMMEDIATELY told "oh no, we never do that...". I was telling my hairdresser this story and she says "wait...do you live with Collective Glendale? Because they did that to me!". So I'm not the only one. Her mail was also repeatedly "lost". Another update: Our sink backed up and the floor literally flooded and it took two days for maintenance to come. read more

I love my apartment! I've been here for about 2 years and my girlfriend lives with me. It's a little small for both of us but it's our home and as soon as I walk through the door I feel like I have everything I need. But that's kind of where my love ends. First off, there has been a nice layer of ice in my parking lot for months now. When it snows no one ever clears the snow from the parking lot and then days, weeks, months go by and that snow turns into ice that never melts. I've complained to the management in the past but they never seem to get around to throwing any salt down. So it's fun walking out to my car every morning. Next, every building has a security door which is nice and helps me feel safe but about once every other mouth or so the security door stops locking. It takes about a week for anyone to fix it. Some other things that just don't sit well with me are the fact that the light in the laundry room in my building has never worked properly. It looks like a Saw movie in there! Also the washing machine on the 4th floor has been out of order for so long, I don't even check to see if it's fixed anymore. The windows leak whenever it rains really hard. The oven is falling apart. Sometimes we find cockroaches. The hallways always smell weird. There's no recycle and the dumpster is almost always over flowing. Also I sometimes find rats around the dumpster. But this place has some of the cheaper rent in the area so I guess you get what you pay for. read more

Moved to The Birch in June, my last review from 3 months ago was somehow removed. 3 months ago: I live at the The Birch apartments in Glendale. We are located right across the street from infinity park. The location seems to be a nice area to live in, however the apartments my children and I reside in are nothing less than insecure. There have been multiple incidents of carelessness, vandalism, theft, murder attempts, and trespassing. The Collective Glendale, the leasing organization, likes to pride themselves in providing prompt responses but deliver no action when it comes to safety and security. From ignoring service requests for reports of mold, water leaks, heat loss, and other maintenance emergencies, to reports of car breaks being cut and homeless persons camping out in the hallways. There are multiple reports coming particularly from The Birch building number 1, but the reports are not limited to only this building that I happen to reside in. When addressing issues, the popular response is to wait several days, weeks, or even months. To the security emergency reports, their response is to slough off the complaint to the police. None of the security complaints have been immediately addressed by the leasing office, and no additional security measures have been implemented. If you interview pretty much anyone in this complex, I'm sure you'll hear the exact same thing. I'm putting this out into the public eye as a warning for anyone looking to rent from this leasing office, or looking to rent an apartment at The Birch. Unless you have an unrelentless attitude towards constant and daily communication to a leasing organization for multiple ongoing issues, you would be better off finding somewhere else to live. Update: The mold and mildew smell is overpowering in my apartment. I've put in multiple requests for the complex to correct this issue. My children have been getting sick about twice a month, and their doctor said that it could be related to the mold and mildew in the apartment. Not only is my apartment water damaged, but the apartment below me is also experiencing the same level of damage, smell, and concern. The bathtub in my apartment was painted over with some type of cheap paint, and over the last three months the paint has been peeling and chipping off of the walls, around the faucets, and in the bathtub. I've also expressed my concern about this to the Collective Glendale and it has not been remedied. My concern with the paint isn't just about aesthetics, but is that it is not safe for my children to take a bath. I don't know what type of paint these people used, but it was simply just painted over the existing bathtub. Monetarily, the apartment complex was also over charging me for a person not living in the complex. My co-signer was included as a household member and this amount was extra for the building utilities that is on my monthly bill. Furthermore, I have had the air let out of my tires twice in the last couple months. Going out to my car and seeing my tire is flat, then taking my car into a tire shop only for them to tell me my tire is fine. Also, last week I was doing laundry in the common area laundry room, using the broken washer and dryer the company has so generously provided for our use. I came back to get my newly dried clothes, only to find that someone had taken an entire load of clothes. I've reported this to the "assistant manager" Lilian Chavez, and i've gotten no response in the last week. So vandalism and theft is a petty nuisance in the management company's eyes and they have no intention of correcting any of the numerous the safety issues of this complex. It appears that the ongoing issues with this complex are the worst i've ever dealt with. You truly get what you pay for, and pay for more than you get. read more

Moving into this complex (Building 4) was one of the biggest mistakes I made since moving to Denver. I have lived four other apartments in Denver and they all had scummy issues, including management so I expected the same, but this place blew the rest out of the water. The entire time I lived there, I complained to management multiple times about not being able to use multiple cabinets and drawers because of the cockroach infestation. The majority of my time living there, everything was bagged on the counters because the roaches were laying eggs on everything. Pest control came once, and never followed up as they stated they would. Even with that one visit, the whole building needs to be treated, I had seen roaches in the laundry room, front and back entrances which means they are in the whole building. Oh and I found out month three of twelve a woman was murdered in exact unit just before I moved in. Figured the price was too good to be true. I requested service to fix fans multiple times since the A/C doesn't reach the rooms, but never had those fixed since move in. Also beware regarding your security deposit. The new management claims that $285 is an acceptable amount for "back utilities" that were not paid the first few months I lived there. Sorry but this seems unacceptable, especially when they were not the management company that was there the first few months I moved in. Its one of the loudest, most unfriendly, dirty areas I have been in and I feel this is mostly due to managements denial of and lack of care to pest management. read more

Pros: The staff is super friendly and have always addressed my concerns immediately (noisy neighbors, maintenance, general questions, etc.). While the hallways and overall appearance of the building are a little outdated, once inside the apartment, there is a feeling of home with plenty of natural light and an updated kitchen and bathroom. The windows are being updated so that less heat is lost and less cold comes in. Cheap rent (for Denver) and cheap utilities. Cons: The floor and ceilings are NOT sound proof at all. This is my biggest headache. I lose sleep every night and every morning to the sound of my neighbor walking around. Other random noises too- see the buzzfeed video for upstairs neighbor and that is my life. The rodents by the trash outside are out of control. I can't park my car near that area otherwise a rodent finds a home in my engine- it's cost me thousands of dollars in repair, and when I reported what happened and how much I had to pay nothing was done. I've seen that some tenants have rodents in their apartment, but luckily mine has been rodent free... so far. The parking lot is covered in ice and snow all winter long. There also aren't enough spaces for everyone who lives here so if you need a spot past 7pm or so you are out of luck and have to cruise the streets. I don't feel safe in this area at night even though it's so close to cherry creek. I have called 911 before to report a man shouting random death threats and cursing in the middle of the night. I wish we had a recycling option. The pool is very small for all 4 buildings- guaranteed splash zone no matter where you go in the summer. In short, I would not recommend this place. While I am appreciative of the good customer service, it's just not the best building or location for me. read more
