I had been thinking why aren't there any chain fish and chips shops here. Well here it is. Nice clean place with tasty food. As expected service is quick. Both fish and master had been seasoned... it shows they care about the food. Quality ingredients and care in preparing them. Love the thick cut fries. Crispy shell and soft core. Hits the spot. Not the neighborhood hole in the wall greasy spoon. It's nice in there.

Grand Catch Feast Box Fish & Chips (Haddock) Shrimp Calamari Onion Rings Coleslaw Sauces Drinks I visited on the opening weekend but forgot to leave a review. I tried the Grand catch Feast Box. This box is perfect for family meals, gatherings, weekend take out or casual dining. Choose from one of their 3 signature Tartar Sauces : Orginal, Spicy or Chipotle . The Chipotle had a nice smokey flavor and the Spicy stole my heart! The fish is fresh and the batter is light airy. They do not use beer batter (No alcohol what so ever.)

Great to have The Big Catch open near my neighborhood. The fish was fresh with a light, crispy batter and the fries were really good. We also tried the calamari and fish burgers and both were tasty. The restaurant is clean, staff were friendly and the portions are generous. Nice to have another great seafood spot nearby, will definitely be back with kids.

We just got back from the Uk so fish and chips was still on our minds:) We went on a Saturday (they open 3pm Daily) and it was just my hubby and I. We ordered the Halibut with onion rings and chips + cod with chips to try the two types of fish. The fish was very fresh nicely battered and golden (the cooking oil is clean which I think is very important that they don't keep recycling the oil). The chips were crispy. The service is friendly. They accept cash or credit. We dine in and got a table wirh no problem. It got busy after 30min. The tartar sauce could use more relish although it was ok. I would've liked my fish just a tad more salty for more flavour. It's a convenient spot in Markham if you're craving for fish and chips

Came on a Saturday night around 6pm. It was super busy. It's a pretty small spot with only a few tables. We couldn't get a table so decided to get takeout but even that we were quoted a 30 min wait. Decided to order anyway. We got the grand catch feast which had - 3 pieces of halibut, - - Onion Rings - Fried calamari - Fried shrimp - French fries - Coleslaw We upgraded the fries to a poutine and we also ordered a two-piece halibut family meal, which gave us more fries and two more pieces. We upgraded the small coleslaw to a Caesar salad instead for the two piece. We ended up waiting about an hour so order via phone instead. Everything tasted great. Would probably pass on the poutine next time. It didn't hold up well travelling home. The Caesar was a little over dressed but everything else we thought was really tasty. The fired seafood and rings/fries were crispy without feeling too greasy. Would recommend checking them out! But beware the wait times.

The Big Catch, Markham's newest seafood restaurant opened today, Friday, June 19th. I was fortunate to go with a friend and it was really good! We had their Grand Catch Family Feast, which includes: * Haddock or Halibut 3pcs * Large Chips * Large Coleslaw * Fried Shrimps 10 * Fried Calamari 16 * Onion Rings * Tartar Sauces - Original, Spicy, Chipotle * Cocktail Sauce * Pop 4 cans This feast is exclusive to their Markham location, their third. It was a lot of food, more than enough for a family of four. Everything was cooked to order and was fresh and tasty Other offerings include burgers, chicken fingers, poutine, salads, rolled ice cream, and a selection of refreshing drinks. Check them out on Markham Rd, south of Bur Oak!

This new fish & chips restaurant in Markham is so popular right now - and for good reason! It's hard to find a solid fish and chips place in this area so I was so excited to try The Big Catch and it did not disappoint! It's fresh and made to order so expect to wait for your food (worth the wait)! Portions are large too! I opted to sub my fries with a Greek salad (+$5) and it was delicious. The poutine upgrade would also be a good choice as well. They have different tartar sauce flavours. My favourite is the spicy one. Would also recommend giving the onion rings a try! They're gigantic and delish! There are a couple tables inside for seating but I did notice that most people were getting take out. I didn't finish my meal and it still tasted good after popping it in the air fryer!

Delicious and fresh! There's only one other fish n chip place I like which is in Toronto. However, this place really blew my expectations. The batter and fish was really well fried and tasted really good much like the one I enjoy in Toronto. The service was really good. The only thing was the chips were a bit dry however we also go the onion rings and they were just as amazing! We really enjoyed it and glad it's close to home so we will definitely be back.

Walked in around 730 PM on a Friday night. There was a short line, but even so, it was a 45 min wait. We chose to take out, but they have six tables of four available for sitting. I would recommend calling in advance and then coming to pick up. They seemed a little disorganized in the kitchen, perhaps because they only opened a week ago. It seemed like the cashier lady had a hard time understanding English so we had to repeat our order several times. The signature halibut with two pieces and fries were 3 oz each, but if you were to get the halibut and fries, the fish was 4 oz. They have fresh cut potatoes which was a huge bonus for us. The coconut shrimp was ok - nothing too special but there were a good number for $15.99 a portion. I would revisit to try the haddock. Their parking lot is limited but it wasn't too difficult to find space. They are located at the third apartment building if you driving north from 16th Ave, or the second apartment building if you are driving south from Major Mackenzie.

I may or may not have found my favourite spot. As someone who LOVES seafood, I was extremely happy to find that this place uses FRESH seafood and you can taste the quality in your meal. Additionally, all their sauces and batters are made in-house and they don't use beer batter for their fish. I really enjoyed my meal and experience here. The owner and the staff were super nice and welcoming. They told a bit about their family business, as well as how they use only fresh products for their food. The seafood tastes homemade for that reason. Nothing like it! The calamari? Different than I'm used to (again, because it's all fresh) but it was so so good. I also tried their Greek Salad which was crunchy and tasty. The sauces come on the side so you can choose how much you want. The portions were also very generous and filling. It can easily be shared but given how tasty it was, you might finish it by yourself. My favourite had to be the halbut, which literally melted in my mouth. Although the seafood was fried, I loved that I didn't feel like it was too oily and didn't get the oil taste in my mouth. They really know what they're doing and I guarantee that whenever I'm in the Markham area, I would definitely stop by for more. They've got a location in Newmarket area as well as Keswick, but I just found out about this place and I'm so glad I did. I absolutely loved my experience and I cannot wait to come back to try more items on the menu, especially the shrimp. Prices are also very reasonable compared to other seafood places.

This place has all the family style fish and chips vibes and operation. I ordered the halibut feast. It came with 1. 1 pc Halibut 2. 1/2 fries 3 1/2 onion rings 4. Can of pop 5. Coleslaw (even though they left it off my order by mistake) All this for $22.99 + tax What a deal for today's restaurant prices. Everything was crispy and you could tell the oil was fresh and clean as all the food had a golden colour. The batter used was thin and crispy And I really loved the onion rings as they were freshly battered and homemade not frozen. The halibut too was amazing, it was pretty thick and solid white. The batter was light. Only complaint is I hope they start to get the orders out quicker and more efficiently as my takeout order took over 30 minutes. They were busy though but still could have been faster in my opinion They are new though and on a learning curve. I would recommend this place to all in the area. I would be back if in the vicinity but it is a far drive. And Going to some Toronto spots for my fish and chips fix would be more likely. Overall this establishment has great fish and chips.

I've had this place now three times, 2x take out and once for dine in and gotta say, always fresh and crispy! Even take out. The dine in area is small and a little stuffy but they have a few fans going to keep you cool. Service is relatively quick when they're not super busy. But the last time I did take out during their grand opening week, prime dinner time, it was a 45 min wait. But if the wait isn't too long, worth it. The breading is so light and crispy and not the prepackaged tartar sauce which I appreciate it. Will be returning.

Friendly service. There are a few tables inside the unit for dine in. They have choices for halibut, haddock, and cod with different sides to choose from. The batter is light and not very oily. They said their fries are sort from local farm and hand cut. Overall, it's a good fish and chip restaurant located in Markham.

It really is a blast from the past. Walking into 'cheers' and everyone knows your name. We were outsiders, but were greeted with a smile by the sweet lady behind the counter. A couple patrons also said hello. Unsure of where to sit we chose a small table off to the side and browsed the daily specials on the wall. Person after person strolled on in, and the woman behind the counter knew each ones drink order off by heart and already had it ready to go for them. Service like that is definitely something special in today's day and age. Prices are VERY cheap. $4.50 for draft beer, $12 for halibut tacos, $7.75 for a loaded banquet burger. Personally, food was nothing spectacular; At least what we had. I was definitely full and it tasted ok. I do want to come back and give some of their other dishes a try. Especially since they're homemade and many dishes have good reviews. If you're looking for quality service with cheap beer and eats, this definitely place is definitely worth checking out.

This location does gluten free, so definitely worth looking into if you need to/ are avoiding gluten. I wasn't craving something so deep fried so I got the shrimp po-boy. The fish and chips my bf ordered were delicious. Good fry, the fries tasted good, and the vinegar coselaw was good. The po boy wasn't as great. The shrimp were cooked beautifully but the bun was cut completely open, so you get the top bread and bottom bread separated. It was impossible to eat. As soon as I picked up the roll, the structural integrity failed and all my "stuffings" fell onto the plate. It was no fun eating with the fork and knife. Flavours were good though. The creamy coselaw was not my cup of tea. It was very mayo-y, which was a bit difficult for me to enjoy. I think it needed a little something citrus to brighten it up. I also was looking forward to my brussel sprouts, which were unfortunately forgotten and I never ended up getting them. By the end, it wasn't on my bill either so I think they just kept forgetting about them. They were definitely available though because someone at our table ordered them to-go. Overall, service was friendly. If you're in the area and looking for some fish and chips to hit the spot, this might be the place for you.
