Cruising out in the hot rod, I ended up heading for The Beef Barn. For a holiday weekend, this place was jamming. Upon entering the business, I asked one of the workers about seating or grabbing a table and she said sit anywhere! She was so polite and accommodating, plus she ended up being our server! Once seated, the menus were already on the table, along with extras, like ketchup, hot sauce, barbecue sauce, salt, pepper, celery salt and the likes. I placed an order for the coffee milkshake while I was looking at the menu. My friend Rick ordered a root beer. I gave him a snide look, as I thought he would order a milkshake since they were so reasonable my priced! Within a few minutes, our drinks arrived, and we placed our order. My friend Rick ordered the roast beef sandwich, with a side of french fries and salad. I was ready to choke him for ordering the salad. Salad? Really? Add a few dollars to the salad french fries combo and he could've had another sandwich. He realized that afterwards. I ordered the roast beef sandwich and a hotdog. After about five minutes of waiting, the food arrived. And there was my glorious roast beef sandwich, a generous portion of beef, shaved, on a hamburger roll. The 8" hotdog also looked great. I would call a ripper, ready to rock with raw onions on the hotdog also. Ricks roast beef sandwich was the same as what I ordered, and accompanied with french fries and the little pity salad. When he realized such a mistake, he put in order for the milkshake to fill him up a little more, I laughed. I sprinkled celery salt on the hotdog, and it just popped with flavor. I suck down that hotdog in about four bites! It was delicious! This was an excellent choice at $3.50. My roast beef sandwich was simply amazing. The roast beef was so professionally seasoned and delicious, it was served warm and shaved on the hamburger roll. I think I could've ate another two or three of these. They were that good! The Beef Barn is an institution that should never be missed if you are in the area. This place is well run, clean, and all the help are so friendly. The food is so reasonably priced and delicious no matter what you order. If you get there with a line, no worries the turnover is quick; people eat, and leave from what I've seen. I've been here twice. The food and service are consistent. The atmosphere is a rustic barn. It has a Texas truck stop like feel to it and they seem to play country and western music too. The prices are very reasonable. Where else can you get a cheeseburger for 5.25 a fry for a couple of bucks and a dessert for around 3 dollars. They use paper and plastic cups, plates and utensils to keep the cost down. The place will be packed on a friday night. On my first time it was a little chaotic because I was waiting to be seated only to find out after a little while you seat yourself. Parking is plentiful, but I recommend parking further away because unless you have a tiny car you'll have a hard time getting out because the spaces are too small. They have an ice cream cafe right nearby and a park with a pond in back too. It's definitely worth a look. read more

I play field hockey at the indoor facility next door and this is my go to spot for dinner before or after my field hockey games! It makes for a great spot to either dine in or a quick grab and go. I'm a frequent customer and usually go always once a week. Service has always been top notch. The waitstaff is always friendly and attentive. This is the best place to get a bang for your buck! It is literally in the shape of an actual barn and has its own distinct style. There are two locations - one in North Smithfield, RI and the other in Bellingham, MA. I've been to both and they are identical between theme and food. I tend to favor the North Smithfield location because it's in close proximity to the sports field I play at. I have been coming to the beef barn since I was a kid (original location back then). It has never disappointed. When I walked in this time, I wasn't sure if it was still seat yourself or if we should wait to be seated. I quickly realized we could find a seat ourselves, so we chose to sit at the bar. We were greeted right away and quickly ordered drinks. While we were sitting there, we could see the takeout line and the kitchen. They were busy and it was nice to see how quickly and efficiently fresh food was being made. The environment is just so fun and cozy. The food was great and the prices are still very affordable in my opinion. I don't live super close, but I'm going to have to make a point to come back more frequently. It was pretty packed but we walked around and found one no problem. Waitress was very friendly and we ordered the RB and cheeseburger and large fry. Didn't wait too long and meal came out. Large fry is somewhat small in portion so we ordered another. Husband enjoyed the RB and my burger was very good, w lettuce tomato and red onion. Burger itself was on the small side, square shaped. I've had better burgers but it was good for the price. I gave 4 starts and not 5 simply because the portion on the smaller side but can't beat prices. Loved the pickle. The Smithfield location has counter top seating along right plenty of dinning room seating and tables outside for enjoying their delicious food on a warm day. The interior is kitschy and rustic, with turn of the century decor and signage on the walls. I like to sit in the back of the restaurant in the chicken coop-themed room. Service is always incredibly friendly and fast and despite the fact that the parking lot is always full of cars, I always find a seat immediately. And the food is probably the best bang you'll get for your buck in the state. The fried chicken sandwich is my go-to. It always comes out hot and crispy, fresh out of the fryer on a toasted melt-in-your-mouth bun. The fries are also always piping hot and delicious. Nothing every tastes greasy or like it's been sitting out for a while. I'll often wash everything down with an ice cold IPA or a coffee shake and my bill is usually under $15. Sat at the bar very disappointed in the service and in the food, I have gone here many times and it's always good this I sat down at the woman what I would like to drink had a root beer. Sat there for 10 minutes before someone asked me what I would like. She took my order in the meantime for other people came in and sat right near me one ordering nearly the same thing for other people got served before I did. I waited 15 minutes before I got my sandwich. I was not happy and the sandwich was not good at all. The antiques inside - vintage hatboxes from McCarthy's, original signage from Cobble Rock - tell the story of local businesses from around North Smithfield and Woonsocket. The Beef Barn is a staple in North Smithfield. The new location is located at 200 Industrial Drive on a nice piece of property. The inside of the barn is decorated as such "your classic style barn". There's also a decorative chicken coop seating area. Your food is served on either paper or plastic plates and plastic utensils, keeping the prices down, very basic and old school feeling and that's all it needs to be! There's no waiting for seating nor do they take reservations as it's first come first serve. You walk in find an empty table of your choice. What's better than that! The service is friendly, but slow. The serveers have a lot of tables to try and cover. The good news is, once you order, you're food comes out very quickly. My favorite item is the steak sandwich, I think it's better than the roast beef. I do wish they offered grilled onions though, they just have raw. The prices are super reasonable, for fries, sandwich, small salad, and drink it's around $10pp. My son also loves their pond with koi fish and waterfall. The service is always friendly and plenty of seating. The ambiance is comfortable, nothing fancy, but expected by its name "Beef Barn". Your tables are nestled within the barn. Decor of history of the restaurant hangs on the wall and the dinner tables look like old newspapers. Finally save room for one of their homemade desserts, some of the best chocolate cake you'll have or dare to try the strawberry rhubarb pie. Only went here for the first time recently, and all I can say is that I've been missing out! They have a wide variety of American foods, from different sandwiches to burgers and hotdogs to milkshakes, and all at some of the cheapest prices you'll see these days. Additions to the burgers and sandwiches cost extra, but even with that it's cheaper than going to McDonald's, and it's a whole hell of a lot better, too. Service was quick, and they host events in the field out back regularly. I accidentally went on a classic car night, and it was a lot of fun to get a burger and a root beer and then walk around and look at the classics before the lightning rolled in.
