FROTY (Final Review of the Year) goes to the resilient Beef Barn. After undergoing a total relocation and fire incident that destroyed their mothership in 2017, they proved that storms are meant to be navigated. The new and improved location is a beacon of strength and community unity. The staff showed resiliency, keeping the standard supreme. The ambiance is exactly what you would expect! A barn vibe with rustic seating and a vibrant atmosphere. The food comes out quick, fresh, hot and delicious! No frills or thrills, just no nonsense, supreme, back yard quality burger! The warm months welcome an unmatched car show that draws in people from every generation. A tried and true story of perseverance! Thanks for the inspiration going into 2026! Cheers

Cruising out in the hot rod, I ended up heading for The Beef Barn. For a holiday weekend, this place was jamming. Upon entering the business, I asked one of the workers about seating or grabbing a table and she said sit anywhere! She was so polite and accommodating, plus she ended up being our server! Once seated, the menus were already on the table, along with extras, like ketchup, hot sauce, barbecue sauce, salt, pepper, celery salt and the likes. I placed an order for the coffee milkshake while I was looking at the menu. My friend Rick ordered a root beer. I gave him a snide look, as I thought he would order a milkshake since they were so reasonable my priced! Within a few minutes, our drinks arrived, and we placed our order. My friend Rick ordered the roast beef sandwich, with a side of french fries and salad. I was ready to choke him for ordering the salad. Salad? Really? Add a few dollars to the salad french fries combo and he could've had another sandwich. He realized that afterwards. I ordered the roast beef sandwich and a hotdog. After about five minutes of waiting, the food arrived. And there was my glorious roast beef sandwich, a generous portion of beef, shaved, on a hamburger roll. The 8" hotdog also looked great. I would call a ripper, ready to rock with raw onions on the hotdog also. Ricks roast beef sandwich was the same as what I ordered, and accompanied with french fries and the little pity salad. When he realized such a mistake, he put in order for the milkshake to fill him up a little more, I laughed. I sprinkled celery salt on the hotdog, and it just popped with flavor. I suck down that hotdog in about four bites! It was delicious! This was an excellent choice at $3.50. My roast beef sandwich was simply amazing. The roast beef was so professionally seasoned and delicious, it was served warm and shaved on the hamburger roll. I think I could've ate another two or three of these. They were that good! The Beef Barn is an institution that should never be missed if you are in the area. This place is well run, clean, and all the help are so friendly. The food is so reasonably priced and delicious no matter what you order. If you get there with a line, no worries the turnover is quick; people eat, and leave from what I've seen. Parking is a breeze also. I love Rhode Island. The beef barn makes the visit so much better. Yes Newport is nice, but there is so much more to see here. Start with this place, you won't be disappointed.

If you're looking for a great roast beef sandwich and home made chips, this is the place to go. The menu is simple and has been the same for as long as I can remember. That's okay with me, this is the type of place that you order the same thing every time you visit, because it's just that good. This new location is situated on a lovely pond, which is a drastic contrast to the busy parking lot scenery of their original location.

Missing Something Used to be my favorite place. Very unique place in the area. Always inexpensive. My favorite item is the bacon cheeseburger. The burger was so overdone that I had to slather it in the signature barbecue sauce. I like the old location. This place has lost a bit of its mystique in the new location. Just my opinion. Thanks

I've been here twice. The food and service are consistent. The atmosphere is a rustic barn. It has a Texas truck stop like feel to it and they seem to play country and western music too. The prices are very reasonable. Where else can you get a cheeseburger for 5.25 a fry for a couple of bucks and a dessert for around 3 dollars. They use paper and plastic cups, plates and utensils to keep the cost down. The place will be packed on a friday night. On my first time it was a little chaotic because I was waiting to be seated only to find out after a little while you seat yourself. Parking is plentiful, but I recommend parking further away because unless you have a tiny car you'll have a hard time getting out because the spaces are too small. They have an ice cream cafe right nearby and a park with a pond in back too. It's definitely worth a look.

First timer - had to try it before we leave the state. Two drinks, two sandwiches and two fries for under $20! Place was packed but quickly seated and served. Great beef sandwich. I'm not often up that way but would return if I was!

Tried the beef Barn for the first time while on vacation with my family, overall it's ok the atmosphere is really neat and the prices are fairly reasonable, the roast beef and roll was ok it could of used little more seasoning but not the worse thing I had, I also tried the pastrami I loved that way better, I also got a vanilla shake is was thick and creamy and great tasting, I did get their homemade chips too go they were good as well. As well as is did tried the broccoil cream soup that was also good too.

I play field hockey at the indoor facility next door and this is my go to spot for dinner before or after my field hockey games! It makes for a great spot to either dine in or a quick grab and go. I'm a frequent customer and usually go always once a week. Service has always been top notch. The waitstaff is always friendly and attentive. This is the best place to get a bang for your buck! I always order a ton of food and my bill is always so cheap. The chicken tenders have a crispy breading and pairs great with their homemade bbq sauce - sweet and tangyyyyyy! Highly recommend! The hot dog comes with a lightly toasted bun and the French fries are always hot. The restaurant is authentic and country barn/rustic themed. It is literally in the shape of an actual barn and has its own distinct style. There are two locations - one in North Smithfield, RI and the other in Bellingham, MA. I've been to both and they are identical between theme and food. I tend to favor the North Smithfield location because it's in close proximity to the sports field I play at. This location also has an icecream shop footsteps away from the restaurant right across the parking lot. You can do a "sweet" 2 in 1 stop shop! Thanks Beef Barn and see ya tomorrow!

I have been coming to the beef barn since I was a kid (original location back then). It has never disappointed. When I walked in this time, I wasn't sure if it was still seat yourself or if we should wait to be seated. I quickly realized we could find a seat ourselves, so we chose to sit at the bar. We were greeted right away and quickly ordered drinks. While we were sitting there, we could see the takeout line and the kitchen. They were busy and it was nice to see how quickly and efficiently fresh food was being made. The environment is just so fun and cozy. The food was great and the prices are still very affordable in my opinion. I don't live super close, but I'm going to have to make a point to come back more frequently. I love it here and definitely recommend anyone in the area try it out!

I went there for lunch looking for a good burger. They sure delivered, it was one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. They also serve beer, and it's easy to find something you like although it's not an extensive beer menu - that, plus the prices are excellent. The staff are helpful, attentive and pleasant and it's definitely service with a smile. All in all, it was a wonderful experience and I will most definitely be back. They are definitely worth a visit, excellent!

Fast service and great pricing: 3 roast beef, 1 salad, 1 large fries , 1 small fries, 2 sodas, $28.45. Always busy but never had a problem getting seats. No hostess, just find a spot. Waitstaff friendly and attentive came here quite a few times and never had a bad experience

Growing up in North Smithfield, The Beef Barn has always been a staple! Think "hometown, upscale fast food." The food is a great price but taste way better than any fast food chain. They are known for their roast beef sandwiches, but don't sleep on their pastrami sandwiches! I cannot stress this enough, but trust me and treat yourself to a shake - they have chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, or coffee! If shakes are not your thing, head over to Pound Hill Creamery right next door where they serve Gifford's ice cream! Also, stop by the Creamery for coffee and baked goods in the mornings! The Beef Barn really has it all! The restaurant is decorated like a barn with all these little nooks and crannies filled with seating. When you walk in, go ahead and seat yourself and one of the super pleasant and attentive waitstaff will be over to take your order! Be sure to follow them on social media for events they hold on the premises like summer car shows!

The restaurant is small (only seats 48) so reservations are recommended. The restaurant is cozy and comfortable, there wasn't very many people while we were there so I'm not sure how loud it gets when busy. They have a full bar so I ordered a drink and my husband loves his craft beers and they had a few (but he always prefers if they have a beer menu so he can read the beer description). For appetizers we ordered shrimp cocktail and the meatball. The shrimp and sauce were delicious, and the meatball was HUGE (we almost could have a meal with that!!! The meatball came with lots of sauce and ricotta with 2 toasted bread slices (we devoured every bit!). For dinner we shared 2 entrees, we got the seafood casserole which came with choice of side (we picked baked potato) and a vegetable medley, and the southern fried pork chops that came with mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. The food was so delicious we ate what we could and had to bring food home. Our server was excellent and very knowledgeable of the menu. This was one of the best places we've tried in a while. We eat out at least weekly and most places we don't go back for a second visit, but Lucky Dog Tavern will definitely stay on our rotation of places we love.

She told me she loves the Chicken Parm Sub at Tavern 6 Two 1, so placed an order for her, another chicken parm for her boyfriend & a cheesesteak for myself with an upgraded side of onion rings. My cheesesteak was good but the onion rings stole the show with delicious spicy ranch in our opinion! Very light & crispy breading. I also tasted my daughter's Chicken Parm sub which was excellent. I love how you cut up the breaded cutlet before putting on the roll. Lots of edges for the sauce & cheese to cover. I don't think I can ever go back to eating a chicken parm that just puts a full chicken cutlet in the roll! The second one was very questionable ( see picture). unfortunately, after eating part of it I noticed that some of the romaine lettuce was clearly wilted and starting to go bad (dark, soggy pieces). I stopped eating it once I realized. The chicken and wrap itself were fine, but the lettuce quality was disappointing and not something that should be served. This seems like a food prep/quality control issue rather than a one-off. French fries were nice and crispy! For $17 on DD, I am so disappointed. I am willing to give this place another chance, but this also makes me question the quality of other ingredients. I hope management pays closer attention to produce freshness going forward, because this could have been avoided.

It has almost a cult-like following after reading the reviews. In my experience, everything I have ordered was okay ... but nothing incredibly amazing vs. the price. I have not seen higher menu prices outside of Manhattan. Two sandwiches and one beer came to $78 after the tip. You read that correctly ... a burger with fries, a pulled pork sandwich with side salad and the cheapest draft beer on the menu ... $78!!! The wings/tenders were over $20 ... in fact, other than the side upgrades, nothing on the menu was under $20. If you are charging $25 for a 'diner burger' and fries, it better be an amazing burger. Mine was no better than Five Guys and less tasty than a Shake Shack. Given the prices, one wouldn't expect that you'd get potato chips with your burger. In order to get French fries ... it's a $5 upcharge. A side salad is $9. I don't mind paying more for quality ... and Blackie's quality is probably high as their meats, vegetables, potatoes, etc. all list the origin place. However high the quality is, for me anyways, the food doesn't seem much different taste-wise, than anywhere else that is much less expensive. Having said that, the portions are huge. The nachos look like they are meant for an entire table and everything is served on metal cafeteria-style trays. Good for them though because the place is huge and always packed. The crowd here is very typical 'Rhode Island'. Expect to see a lot of anchor tattoos, lifted Jeeps with no doors in the parking lot, young 20 - 40 year old crowd who probably played high school football or baseball back in the day and still enjoy telling stories about it. There are no shortage of cross-fitters here. There is a nice buzz of conversation and energy ... but this is not the place you want to go if you don't like crowds. Inside is weird. The walls are painted black and the chairs/tables look like something in a boutique hotel. It looks a little more like a corporate hotel lobby or wedding function hall vs. a restaurant ... especially given the typical crowd. This is not the sports bar it appears to be on the outside. Overall, my 3-stars may seem harsh. But that's an average score ... and honestly, my food has always been average. Maybe I need to try the pizza. If you have deep pockets and like huge portions, you probably won't be disappointed in this place. The service is great, although 2 people working a packed bar, you will wait a bit if you need anything. Also, I came to watch the big game and for some reason they hung pendant lights which dangle down from around the bar. While they make everyone look better, the TVs are blocked by the lights. Very odd.
