The Beach Rose Inn
Brian V.

We made reservations to stay here for a wedding and needed to do early check-in to get ready, but we were informed by the maid, who was the only staff on property, that early check-in would be an extra $30 additional charge. The advertised wi-fi is awful and there were no other guests physically staying in the hotel, despite their allegedly having been sold out for the weekend. The hotel itself looks like a more run-down, shadier take of the Bates Motel. The manager we were eventually able to get on the phone was rude and was spoke with a hard-to-understand foreign accent. He was very short with me, telling me that there is nothing he can do to help waive what I am sure is an optional fee. The term "Customer Service" is clearly not something they have ever heard of here. The previous owner of the Beach Rose Inn was the worst, but this new owner is unimaginably more awful.

Holiday Inn Express Wells-Ogunquit-Kennebunk - breakfast #1

"Some people have everything And other people don't…read moreBut everything don't mean a thing If it ain't the thing you want Express yourself" (Charles Wright & The Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band) Our very positive experience started the minute we walked in, approached the check-in counter, and were greeted by two very pleasant and funny gents that entertained us with their banter. Over the next two days, we were greeted every time we left and returned to the hotel. The Holiday Inn Express Wells-Ogunquit-Kennebunk has an outstanding location on Post Road convenient to a ton of restaurants. There is a Hannaford's supermarket around the corner, and you are maybe a 5-minute drive to the beach. We had a large room with a comfy bed, work-station-desk, plenty of charging and electrical outlets, a couch, and a large bathroom with a good shower. The flatscreen TV had a lot of options and the Wi-Fi worked easily. The included breakfasts were excellent too- with a pancake machine, different omelet varieties, home fries, three cereals, yogurt, fruit, and best of all a coffee machine that grinds up fresh beans for every cup. The coffee (plus regular and sugar free hot chocolate mixes) were available 24 hours, and how much did we love brewing up a fresh cup of coffee at night instead of rolling the dice with the contents of those lobby tankards with 5-hour old sludge? We loved every minute of our stay.

Terrible. Never again filthy bathroom. Rude manager Rex. Wouldn't even give me his full nameread more

What a fantastic find!…read more I stayed here in early October and it was the best decision I had made in some time. The fabulosity of my experience started long before my friend and I arrived. We had been out hiking in the wilds of Maine and when we emerged from the woods, we had a very pleasant text waiting for us from the cottages wishing us a good morning and providing us with a number to text on arrival so we could be greeted, shown around, and let into the room. After sharing an approximate arrival time, I was anxious to get there and get settled. Things were very smooth on arrival. Not only were my friend and I greeted promptly we were given excellent directions re: how to pull up close to our room and provided a very thorough tour of both the outside and inside of Room #12. With only 1 night booked, it was refreshing to discover all the room had to offer without feeling like we missed any details. If you have a chance to stay in Room #12, I HIGHLY recommend it. The back porch afforded jaw dropping sunset views over marsh and wildlife sanctuary from our rocking chairs. Birds in flight, sunshine dancing on the shimmering pools. Gorgeous. The front deck offered glimpses of the ocean and the changing skies of pre-dawn and sunrise. The room itself was very quiet and comfortable. Super comfortable bed, ample seating, places for luggage, sink area separate from the bathroom, keurig with complimentary coffee, flat screen television, lots of floor space. I would have been thrilled with just the room but the customer service went above and beyond. We felt so welcomed, part of the long family-owned business, and ready to engage in everything this cottage and its surroundings had to offer. I was lucky enough to awake at a time I could take the 5 minute walk to the sea wall to catch the full sunrise over the ocean and keep an eye out for seals and other wildlife. 100% worth it. Check out was a breeze (just had to text to say we were headed out)and we were on our way to some of the recommended nearby sites (Ogunquit Beach, Nubble Lighthouse, Mount Agamenticus) to soak in one last bit of Maine before heading home.

This place was amazing! I wanted to find a place off the beaten path, and this place did not…read moredisappoint. The price was great. (off-season). It's right across the street from the ocean and there are some decent dining places within a mile or so. Very cute rooms, clean, and comfortable. Highly recommended! Definitely a great alternative to the more touristy places like Ogunquit and Kennebunkport.
