I'm going to start off with the good because it really outweighs everything else. Location was terrific. We needed only one night in the area, but high season was just insane. The prices and availability were crazy. But, we found The Mariner and it was a life saver. It's definitely a motel. Rooms open out to the parking lot, but the view of the marsh was spectacular. And we thought it was very quaint. There is an indoor and outdoor pool and very nice hot tub. It was crowded. Lots of rowdy kids - and adults. But I get it. The first or last night of vacation cause all of us to get a bit rowdy. They had very nice seating areas in front of each room to take in the view. The rooms are exceptionally clean. Like so clean that I was shocked. We had a full size fridge and microwave, which were both appreciated. They have replaced what I'm sure was carpet with vinyl flooring. This helps with the clean factor and it looks great. But, I don't think it helps with the noise factor. We could really hear the people above us. No big deal as they were courteous, but I think could have been a problem if it got really late. The ac is a unit in the back of the room and controlled by remote control. We really should have looked at it and made adjustments before we went to bed. We didn't and it was 57 degrees in our room the next morning. Make sure you take a look and get help before you go to bed. What we thought was just a chilly evening turned into a VERY cold morning. The staff was extremely nice and I think it's a great option for the area. Totally recommend for a one or two night stay. read more

When you are traveling to a vacation location in off season you never know what you are going to find. Well I am very happy to say last night was a big time successful find. To start with the room rate was reasonable the staff was very friendly and miracles of miracles the front desk was able to provide more than just a pizza or fast food joint for a dinner recommendation. It has become a pet peeve of mine that the kids at the desk don't have a clue about good places to eat. I guess we will just need to rely on Yelp. The room was large and clean with a full size refrigerator and microwave. There are also an indoor and outdoor pool which we didn't use. Surprisely enough on a May day it was in use however. Now for the icing on the cake. The view from our room was outstanding. There was also two chairs outside our room that we took full advantage off as we had our morning tea and coffee. Only negative was they did not have any breakfast items which would have been nice but not a deal breaker. Being from Chicago this next statement may be meaningless but if we get back to Maine this will once again be our first nights lodging. read more

We spent three glorious nights here for our Wedding anniversary in September. My single regret about coming to Ogunquit and staying at this hotel, is that I waited until I was 59 to make this trip. So many weekends wasted in other New England towns at inferior hotels. From the moment of check in, where we met the most delightful young woman who gave us all sorts of helpful information, to when we checked out and that same lovely person took our keys, everything was pretty mich perfect. I had read reviews that talk about how clean the hotel is but you can't begin to understand just how clean, until you arrive. EVERYTHING is SPOTLESS! Not a single gum wrapper or cigarette butt on the grounds. We entered our room and were immediately struck by the fresh clean but NOT chemical smell of the room, just a nice fresh and very, very clean smell. The bed was one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in. In fact we are in the process of purchasing a new mattress for our home and we completely forgot we wanted to know the brand. In the bathroom, the pleasant surprises continued with a DEEP (of course CLEAN) SOAKING tub! What a delight after walking all day!! Lovely and free breakfast each morning and in addition to the chairs outside the rooms, out on the lawn there are Adirondack chairs where you can drink your coffee or tea with a gorgeous view. Two swimming pools and outdoor, zero entry pool. Was a bit too cold out to take full advantage on of the outdoor pool but the hot tub was delightful and the indoor heated pool was fantastic. When our trip ended on Sunday, we were so sad to have to leave but so happy with the experience that we are already planning our next trip. If you are looking for a lovely place to replenish your batteries, relax and just have a nice time, Ogunquit is the place and the Mariner Resort is the place to stay!! read more

From beginning to the end a fantastic "long " Anniversary weekend...We were early so they let us use the pool till the room was ready. Cleanest place I have ever stayed, attention to each and every detail. Friendly staff and Great! amenities...family friendly, endless choices on where to eat or shop,start your day with their wonderful free continental breakfast and coffee . Room was spacious,had a large fridge and microwave comfortable bed...great bath and shower ...did I mention clean...The pools and hot tub crystal clear and yes clean....Great views from balcony too... no dust, cobwebs,cigarette butts or trash of any kind anyplace on the grounds. Easy able to find friendly staff if you need anything....Had a great time...excellent location,although I wish it were closer to the beach...although not that far that I would complain. I'm really enjoying my stay at The Mariner Resort. My family lives near by. I usually don't stay at resorts when I visit. After spending the past school year teaching remote kindergarten from my basement, I was desperate for a getaway. While my daughter stays with the family, I'm enjoying 3 nights in a King Suite. My room is very clean, plenty big enough, has a private balcony, a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. I brought breakfast foods with me and the hotel has complimentary coffee and tea in the mornings. My family joined me at the resort's pool with no problem at all. I'm close to all the great restaurants in Wells and don't need to cross Ogunquit Center to get what I need. The other guests have been lovely and not the least bit disruptive to my relaxation. My room is in the main building and I can't hear any other guests from my room. What was an impulsive decision during a particularly horrible remote teaching day, may very well become an annual tradition. The Mariner Resort is exactly what is needed to erase the worst year of teaching in 26 years. In just 24 hours I'm refreshed and now have 2 more days to enjoy! #ilovekidsbutimonabreak read more

We're sure glad we did our homework before booking accommodations for our 3-night stay in Ogunquit---it certainly paid off. Well, for the most part. We were very satisfied with the Mariner Resort, with its fine facilities and attractive grounds. The exception being that there were a couple of incidents with extremely unruly and obnoxious children and their undisciplining parents, who were almost as wild as their kids (more on this below). Our room had two very comfy Queen beds, was kept very clean (as were all the grounds in general) and looked to be recently painted/redecorated. The room itself was very spacious, had a large six-drawer dresser with mirror, ample closet space with a decent amount of hangers, and several whimsical wall hooks placed here and there for the guests' convenience. The bathroom had a small but functional vanity area that was separate from the toilet and shower room. Clean towels provided by housekeeping were abundant. Off in an alcove-like part of our room was a full-size refrigerator with freezer, and a microwave oven sitting atop a wooden cart (great for storage if you bring supplies for your room). Both amenities were appreciated by us as we needed to refrigerate some medication during our visit. We also used the microwave oven a couple of times to reheat restaurant leftovers. There was an ironing board and iron provided, but we didn't use them. Upon our check-in, we noticed that our room did not have a coffeemaker, but the problem was quickly rectified by Nick, the very helpful front desk clerk. In no time at all, he brought one up to our room, along with coffee-making supplies (our only complaint was with the packets of hard and virtually unusable dry creamer. No worries---we just drove a little way up Route 1 to Hannaford in Wells to buy some Coffee Mate). Another minor problem was with the wall-mounted TV---it was difficult to change channels and adjust the volume because you had to point the remote control directly at just the right spot in order for it to work. Also, the channel guide sheet is inaccurate and needs to be updated---many of the channels listed were incorrect or blacked out/unavailable altogether. The channel guide is found in the resort information binder provided to each room. I was happily surprised at the quality and variety of the daily complimentary continental breakfast. Available each morning at about 8 a.m. in a room adjacent to the patio, various tables/stations were set up with toasters, two (2) varieties of bagels, English muffins, bread for toasting, butter, cream cheese, three (3) kinds of baked goods (e.g., banana bread, blueberry bread, grain/seed bread, which looked to be homemade), dry cereal, yogurt, granola, and slices of fresh watermelon, cantaloupe and pineapple. Orange juice was also available. Hot coffee and tea were set up just outside the door, on the patio, and were available slightly earlier than the food. We didn't actually swim in the outdoor, non-heated pool (temps were a bit cool for us), but rather sat at times at one of the many umbrella-topped patio tables in the area. We alternated between having a soak in the hot tub (when available and not occupied by children. It's located in the outdoor pool area), and made good use of the heated indoor pool (perfect water temperature). We appreciated the several Styrofoam "noodles" provided by the management. I am reluctant to complain about this, but as for the aforementioned children... We do understand that children on vacation with their parents want to have a good time, but what we witnessed on occasion was ridiculous. At times, both the indoor and outdoor pools were overrun by them. Especially alarming was that 6-8 kids were simultaneously cannonballing into the modest-size indoor pool---a father of some of them was the ringleader! Another time, ball playing in the pool(s) disrupted the comfort of other guests. And, all you could hear was screaming and shouting---total wildness. What was troubling was that the parents were egging them on. We also noticed that some of these children were spending quite a bit of time in the hot tub, which is against the resort's rules. We informed management of the goings on and, hopefully, they will somehow be rectified. The Mariner is well located. It was a snap for us to catch the Ogunquit Trolley from directly across the street from the resort to visit Perkin's Cove. It is only a short drive to the very active Main St. area to shop or dine, but traffic can be heavy (depending on the time you go), and parking can be problematic. It is also only a short trip north on Route 1 to Moody/Wells for shopping and dining out. All in all, we had a great time there and were sorry to leave. We can't wait to return to Maine (and the Mariner). In fact, we have already reserved a room for our next vacation in Ogunquit for September '19. I just hope the weather will be a bit better so we can go to the main beach. read more

I stayed here at the Mariner's for one night and it was very pleasant. Great location and view, nice swimming pool (one indoor, one outdoor, and a hot tub). While we were there, the regular pool was being serviced. The staff was very nice and helpful! 24-hour coffee was available at the lounge. The rooms have a small refrigerator and a microwave -- very nice to have those amenities. It was very clean, and the beds were comfy. Great shower. Parking close to the rooms. read more

A comfortable, spacious motel in Ogunquit. It was clean and well maintained. They had tiled floors and nicely painted walls in clean colors which enhanced the beach feel. They offer adirondak seating to overlook the marsh, have an outdoor and indoor pool, and is conveniently located to restaurants and shops. There is also lots of parking. The bathroom has shower and a nice deep tub. Conjoining rooms are offered, and each room has chairs and a table outside as well. read more

Stopped here for the night on our way up to Bar Harbor. What a beautiful place! The rooms were clean with a nice size refrigerator. The staff was friendly and efficient, and the view was beautiful. We really enjoyed using the pool and hot tub after an eight hour drive to relax. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends! read more

One of the best motels we have ever stayed at. Kids (2) had a blast. Privately owned and the owners couldn't be any more helpful than they were. Accommodations us with bed rails for our 3 year old son and a crib for our baby. They were just the nicest people we have met in some time. So happy to have chosen this location and venue for our summer vacation. We will be back next year. read more

The positives first, this motel is well priced, fairly convenient to the Village, clean rooms, refrigerator and microwave, indoor and outdoor pools. The downside, which was very down, was night road construction - throughout the night - directly in front of the motel. Tearing up a road, and then repaving. When I went to speak with the manager he said twice, "There's nothing I can do about it." Right, nothing you can do about the construction, but something you could offer for two nights lost sleep. I told him, "This was NOT a good stay, losing two nights sleep." He again replied, "Nothing I can do about it." read more

We stayed there for two nights and was very impressed with the accomodations. The room couldn't have been any cleaner. And that's saying alot as my wife is a clean freak and it passed her test with flying colors! I agree with one of the other reviewers that the shower was a pleasant surprise. Lots o water pressure! You will have a great view of the river marsh/ocean no matter what room you are in. Owners were very pleasant and accomodating. My friend and I booked a suite to stay at the Mariners for the first wknd of June; my father in law passed suddenly on 5/28, so I called to cancel, 4 days prior to our stay instead of the required 7 days. Scott refused to give us our money back, stating that if I had reserved the regular rooms, he would've but since I reserved the suite, and they had to turn people away, he couldn't do anything (FYI, the price difference between those two rooms were like $20-50). Even under the circumstances, he would not even offer us a credit to use for another night. Scott did say that I could email him that Sunday (the day of the funeral) to inquire about whether the suite was rented out; if they were able to rent out the room, he would refund my money, less the $15. I emailed, and never heard back. It pains me to know that there are such heartless, cruel, and money-centric people out there. read more

I don't usually bother reviewing hotels, but we had a very pleasant stay here and I think they deserve extra credit for that. What I was really struck by was how friendly, helpful, and pleasant the staff were. They seemed very genuine and nice. We were able to park before and after check out, which saved us having to pay for parking for the beach and was really convenient (still a bit of a hike if you're walking, but doable). It's a great location, centrally located, they do a very decent breakfast spread, the rooms were spacious and clean. I really liked the outdoor patio with plastic chairs outside every room--it was a nice place to sit out and enjoy the weather and it was a nice touch. There was also a full size fridge in our room which was nice--our stay was short, but it was good to be able to put a few things in there to keep cool. read more

Stayed 1 night in October-- wished we had longer to stay here and explore the area. The room was large, beds comfortable, full refrigerator and microwave. Had a good view of the ocean ( at a distance) and beautiful sunrise view. We did not realize what a beautiful area this is-- explored a little, but really a lot to see and do within close driving distance. Breakfast included homemade pumpkin bread or another breakfast bread, as well as yogurt and cereals. Manager was very nice and helpful. Price was right for us on a New England tour. read more
