When you are traveling to a vacation location in off season you never know what you are going to find. Well I am very happy to say last night was a big time successful find. To start with the room rate was reasonable the staff was very friendly and miracles of miracles the front desk was able to provide more than just a pizza or fast food joint for a dinner recommendation. It has become a pet peeve of mine that the kids at the desk don't have a clue about good places to eat. I guess we will just need to rely on Yelp. The room was large and clean with a full size refrigerator and microwave. There are also an indoor and outdoor pool which we didn't use. Surprisely enough on a May day it was in use however. Now for the icing on the cake. The view from our room was outstanding. There was also two chairs outside our room that we took full advantage off as we had our morning tea and coffee. Only negative was they did not have any breakfast items which would have been nice but not a deal breaker. Being from Chicago this next statement may be meaningless but if we get back to Maine this will once again be our first nights lodging.

We spent three glorious nights here for our Wedding anniversary in September. My single regret about coming to Ogunquit and staying at this hotel, is that I waited until I was 59 to make this trip. So many weekends wasted in other New England towns at inferior hotels. From the moment of check in, where we met the most delightful young woman who gave us all sorts of helpful information, to when we checked out and that same lovely person took our keys, everything was pretty mich perfect. I had read reviews that talk about how clean the hotel is but you can't begin to understand just how clean, until you arrive. EVERYTHING is SPOTLESS! Not a single gum wrapper or cigarette butt on the grounds. We entered our room and were immediately struck by the fresh clean but NOT chemical smell of the room, just a nice fresh and very, very clean smell. The bed was one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in. In fact we are in the process of purchasing a new mattress for our home and we completely forgot we wanted to know the brand. In the bathroom, the pleasant surprises continued with a DEEP (of course CLEAN) SOAKING tub! What a delight after walking all day!! Lovely and free breakfast each morning and in addition to the chairs outside the rooms, out on the lawn there are Adirondack chairs where you can drink your coffee or tea with a gorgeous view. Two swimming pools and outdoor, zero entry pool. Was a bit too cold out to take full advantage on of the outdoor pool but the hot tub was delightful and the indoor heated pool was fantastic. When our trip ended on Sunday, we were so sad to have to leave but so happy with the experience that we are already planning our next trip. If you are looking for a lovely place to replenish your batteries, relax and just have a nice time, Ogunquit is the place and the Mariner Resort is the place to stay!!

Had a wonderful time. Great location reasonable prices very nice pools (indoor and outdoor) both immaculate, nice hot tub, beautiful grounds and landscaping. The rooms were nice and my only complaints would be had to wait for staff to open the coffee area to get my morning coffee and not a big choice of TV channels. We'll be back for sure! Just bringing a coffee pot for me and a DVD player for my husband!

The Sparhawk rooms are right at the water's edge and you have wonderful unimpeded views of the Atlantic, Ogunquit Beach, Little Beach and the outlet of the Ogunquit River, with the mesmerizing tides. Plus the views are due east and the sunrises are amazing. However- though the rooms are clean and comfortable with a private patio or balcony, there are some misses for a higher end "resort" property. Our balcony door's deadbolt lock didn't work (which is a safety issue!), the bathroom sink's drain stopper was broken, the walls are rather thin so you easily hear your neighbors (and snorers), and we had ants in the bathroom. Plus it would be nice to have in-room amenities like a coffee-maker (coffee, tea, hot water are available in the lobby but only starting at 7AM, so early birds like us in need of a morning brew are out of luck) and mini-fridge (for keeping those leftovers or desserts fresh - instead, we had to wastefully throw them out). The complimentary Continental breakfast is welcome but the offerings are on the scant side - there should at least be cut fruit available and it would be nice to have hot fresh oatmeal instead of instant oatmeal packets. There are many other choices to stay in Ogunquit that offer such amenities and are more sound-proofed, though perhaps not with the amazing views that Sparhawk offers. But if The Sparhawk would like to be a top-notch stay, I think they need to up their game a little!

However, if you're like me, and you want a full vacation experience and hotel with a lobby and some amenities, with a pool, private balcony, a room with a beach view, and a fun experience hanging out in the room on a rainy day, or relaxing at night with wine and cheese, just know this is a simple little place and not all rooms are spacious and have views - you will have to make sure you reserve one of the larger rooms with a view. And the hotel is all about location, not frills. We made our plans late and got a garden level room, which was clean and had a comfortable bed, but, well, it's a garden level room with no view, facing a parking lot, with ultra low ceilings and was kind of cramped. Still, it had a nicely redone newer bathroom and shower, a functional air conditioner and it was convenient that there was a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven (for slices) and a sink for dishes etc so you don't have to fill up your coffee maker with water from the bathroom sink lol! We got lucky and had beautiful beach weather for every day of our stay so we just used the room to shower and sleep and spent time at the beach, walking Marginal Way, exploring Perkins Cove, shopping, trying different restaurants and having ice cream at night on one of the many public benches for people watching. This hotel does have a pretty lawn with some tables and chairs for all guests to use and that was nice in the morning with coffee. But if you reserve and get a garden level room, I wouldn't recommend that in the off season, or if you are unlucky and get rainy weather.

My husband, sons and I had been going to the dunes for 8 years as returning customers to our cottage at the dunes. it was what everyone in our family always looked forward to. Both of my sons could not wait to take our yearly family trip. it was our forever spot, where we envisioned our family generations going every summer. When my oldest went to college he would still come to the dunes, even flying from his internship in California out to our yearly two week dunes vacation because, yes, it was that special. I can't understate that it was an absolutely magnificent place, untouched by corporate greed, a little family operation. The only thing to mark the property was an un-assuming wooden sign, small and simple but well done - just like the dunes. if you went fast enough on the bustling touristy road you would miss it. beyond the threshold of pines that shield your view to this little ideal world, are incredible ocean views, simple little cottages, green grass, and lots of space, it was a simple little paradise. the dunes was simple, elegant and already expensive. now imagine 2x the cost and you get the idea. what used to be around 8,000usd for a two week stay ( and a full kitchen) is now around 20,000$ (with no kitchen)........ absolutely insane. whats more disappointing is the rebranding of the property as some luxury cottage getaway when the original architecture and entire feel WAS ALREADY MORE GENUINE than this rebrand!!! The whole idea of the dunes cottages were things are simple, like going back in a time machine, units aren't about new interior renovations and luxury finishes. its about time to connect with family outdoors, get away to a simpler time and remember what truly matters. shame on new ownership - truly commercialism at its finest. Well done management, you lost an 8 year returning client, and just know, we have since visited and this place lost what made it special.

This is a very tasteful, professional and friendly property. When we first entered our suite, a studio, my first thought was that I would be comfortable living in this thoughtfully designed little space and maybe we should sell the house. Only half joking. Everyone in this little apartment was arrangd to make things cmfortable. The kitchen(ette) is small but felt easier to work in than a large kitchen. Everything is clean, nearly new and nicely decorated. Because of uncomfortable past experience, we have sworn off the bed and breakfast vacation. I would say that the Pink Blossoms Resort is all the best you would ever expect from a great bed and breakfast with the warmth and the friendly service but without any of the potential weirdness. Why was this stay a pleasure? The most important element is the professionalism of the staff. They will be happy to stay out of your way or to engage in thoughtful conversation. Either way, they will be ready to help you with anything you need. We did not take advantage of it, but this resort has bbq areas, tables, chairs outside, a serious tennis court and plenty of space for the kids (and adults) to play.
