We had a delicious brunch at the Terrace at the Cliff house. It is a small outside restaurant so reservations are a must. The view, see photos, is as mouth watering as the food. The service was fun and attentive. Look at the generous portions in the photos. The only negative is that the glass barrier and no fans outside keep it stifling hot on a muggy day. There is an inside option for dining, but that view...wow!

Park: valet is great but they also have a huge lot for self parking Staff: very friendly and attentive Decor: very vibrant with the beach colors but not over the top and more well placed neutrals that compliment each other well Rooms: very nice and presented well...though if you are in the area for work, there are no desks or working areas in the rooms which made things more difficult Dining: a few options all well presented and nice with heat lamps outside for the chilly fall evenings Overall: very nice beach front hotel but for me, a few things that just didn't work for me. The room keys are bracelets and you have to have it right up against the lock to work making it difficult to actually get into my room. Secondly, if they put you in one wing, it's a bit of a walk outside to get to your room and it's not a smooth walk so with baggage, it can be a touch aggravating. Keep in mind, when you want to go to the lobby or eat, it's the trek back to the main building The pricing is not for the average guest either so be prepared to shell out bank!

This is one of the best resort hotels in Maine and all of New England for that matter. Impeccable service, beautiful lobby and guest rooms and outstanding food in both the Tiller (their more upscale eatery) and the Nubb which is their excellent rendition of a lobster/clam beach bar. We had a minor issue with the heating nothin our original king ocean view room, they were so great and upgraded us to an enormous suite with complimentary snacks and soft drinks. We booked massages, Liz had Logan and she loved the massage. I had Jeffrey who was closer to a physical therapist than a masseuse. He addressed all of my problem areas, just phenomenal in every respect. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and it was clear that these folks know a thing or two about hospitality!

French white wine usually doesn't disappoint!

Stopped by Cliff House on a recent trip and I'm so glad I did. I started off with a glass of French white wine at the bar (don't ask me which kind.... I wish I remembered, because it was perfect), soaked in the view of the magnificent ocean(we said that it would probably be spectacular view if there was a storm... **HINT), then left... only to come back later that evening for Manhattans and apps. That's how good the vibe was. The atmosphere was lively with live music playing just outside the restaurant in the hotel lounge area, creating an upscale kind of energy. The view of the ocean from the bar is absolutely unbeatable, again, definitely one of the highlights. Service was great, super attentive but not overbearing. Attached is a shot from earlier that day.. wine, snacks, and ocean views. Safe to say Cliff House is a must whether you're staying there or just swinging by for a drink and a bite.

Beautiful views. Fresh oysters. Delicious drinks. The hotel is a beautiful spot for drinks and pictures on the cliff.

A relaxing retreat. We splurged on an oceanfront cliff room, and it was absolutely worth it. The stunning views of the cliffs and the soothing sound of crashing waves all day made the experience unforgettable. The adult pool area is a unique oasis--everyone was quietly napping or unwinding. The pool attendants are attentive, setting you up with a chair cover and towel. There's no loud music or disruptive conversations, making it a perfect spot to relax. The 13+ age restriction is a great touch, ensuring a peaceful atmosphere, while kids can enjoy their own separate pool. A thoughtful hydration station is available on every floor, offering water and Keurig coffee, which is a nice perk. While it is on the pricier side, as most resorts are, sometimes you truly get what you pay for.

10/10 experience staying The Cliffhouse. Beautiful and clean, very friendly and accommodating staff, delicious food and amazing experience. The Tiller and Nubbs serve up the best lobster roll you'll ever have. Enjoy the pool and hot tub overlooking the ocean. The spa was a very relaxing experience. I highly recommend visiting here on your next Maine stay!

Location was idyllic - right out of a good hallmark movie! Went up to explore the fall foliage and was not disappointed with our stay... prices are a bit steep and would expect a little more guest pampering/service to get a higher review - checkin could have been more streamlined (lots of folks training it seems?). Restaurants on site were excellent. The location is perfect for getting out and exploring the local towns. Valet parking was good but extra expense... rooms are spread out along location. Views are impeccable and there is a great walking trail down to the rocks. Beautiful outdoor fire pit. Worth a weekend once

    Enjoying this amazing view!

This was a beautiful resort with breathe taking views. From the reception area to the guest room and every hallway in between seems to be perfectly curated. There is plenty to see in due on property . There's an art gallery, live art studio, and a spa . The staff was friendly and very accommodating. I would absolutely stay at the Cliff House again. 10/10 would recommend!

Accommodating, helpful and very friendly staff. We bought some fresh oysters down east but hadn't thought of the oyster knife. Asked the manager if, by chance we could possibly borrow an oyster knife? Well, due to liability issues, they would not allow me to borrow the knife but offered to have the chef shuck them for us (after signing a waiver!.....I hate where our country is, but totally understand!). We listened to live piano to relax us during a raining and "trafficy" day driving from down east and Acadia national park. Just one mile down the road from Walker's point (The Bush compound) I was really hoping that we might run into 'W' and Mrs. but to no avail. The room was well appointed and a corner room with beautiful views of the chanel. Picture commercial lobster boats moored at bouys as the tides rise and fall with the hours going by. A rainy day to start lead to clear skies and a beautiful bluebird sky with white puffy clouds to accent. Breakfast buffet included in the stay along with free bikes to use as guest made our stay complete. I only wish we had more time to spend here at the resort! Huge thanks for making our stay complete and fabulous!! Cheers to you all. Oh, I almost forgot, they have a shuttle that runs out to dock square every half hour. What a blessing.

The customer service, cleanliness, attentiveness and responsiveness to our needs and requests was top notch! The rooms were clean and spacious, the food was excellent, and the over-all atmosphere was warm and inviting. There were activities on site for the kids, they played soccer in the open area, as well as sat by the fire pits in the evenings. There was a floating sauna, lobster boat, kayaks, and bikes that could be used around the area. Shuttle service was also offered to take people into town and back which was a nice bonus. Housekeeping was great and can I say the towels were so soft! I can't say enough good things and would highly recommend this resort! The drive to Plumb Island through Newburyport was the perfect introduction to our romantic, north shore getaway. Being from Phoenix, we look forward to our cold, winter adventure each year and neither of us had been anywhere north of Boston before. Before our arrival, communication with the Blue was informative and hand a personal feel. Obviously, the Blue caters to summer beach-goers, and the reserved parking area near the hotel would definitely be a huge plus for folks competing for parking spots, but in winter, there are very few people or cars on the entire island. The Blue is a quaint little hotel nestled on the beach in a neighborhood of New England beach homes. We were happily greeted at the front desk by Blue staff and the General Manager. They tendered to our every need and surprised us with a fabulous fruit and chocolate anniversary gift waiting for us in the room. The room was beautiful with a classic and modern beach feel. Sliding glass doors open up to a wooden deck with a fabulous view of the Atlantic Ocean. We could hear the crashing waves while sitting inside beside the gas fireplace to read. It was magical! Also magical was the bed! We haven't slept that well in years! The bed was so comfortable and my wife loved the pillows so much that she bought the very same ones for home the day we returned. And don't forget the two hot tubs! There is nothing quite as enjoyable as relaxing in a steaming, bubbling hot tub while it's snowing all around you. Honestly, the "hot tubs available" filter was probably what highlighted the Blue to me during my search for this trip. One hot tub is on the second floor deck, overlooking the beach and the second is hidden under the pine trees at the end of a short sidewalk across the street from the main building. Both were large enough for probably 6 people, clean and well maintained. Again, it was February so we had them all to our crazy selves the whole week. The beach is beautiful! There is direct, private access from the second floor of the Blue, via a wooden boardwalk. The beach is sandy with very few rocks. I didn't see any seaweed or anything washing up on shore, but it was February, so I didn't expect to see a whole lot of anything living coming out of the water. Every morning we enjoyed a beautiful sunrise over the ocean while we drank some local coffee delivered direct to the room. Oh yeah, breakfast! Each morning the staff dropped off and adorable wicker basket with fresh, local breakfast offerings plus that wonderful carafe of coffee. We had different breakfast each day, to include quiche, overnight oats, fresh fruit, biscuits, and bacon. Just the right amount for the two of us and we couldn't wait to see what breakfast surprise would arrive each morning. Although Plumb Island may feel remote from the business of the Boston-metro area, the location was great for dipping down to Salem without hitting any traffic, or popping up to New Hampshire for a sleighride through the forest. One morning, after a small nor'easter blew through, our SUV got stuck in the parking lot snow. No worries! The General Manager of the Blue came out to hail down a plow and personally helped push us out. Now that's service! Overall, I would wholeheartedly recommend the Blue -Inn on the Beach to anyone looking for a romantic beach getaway. If you're looking for a less Metropolitan vacation with the proximity to get to Boston in under an hour, the Blue can't be beat. We will definitely be coming back. Maybe even in the summer next time!

I arrived early, and since my room was ready, I was allowed to check in early, The pool was very clean, as clean as I have ever seen any pool. The water temperature was just right. It's a good-size pool, not huge, but just great for a leisurely swim. The rooms are very clean and very spacious. There is plenty of storage. The coffee maker was simple enough to operate. TIP: you need both remotes in order to use the TV. The front desk will help you. It's a block from the beach, which is perfect. It's close enough to walk to where the action is, and far enough so that it's nice and quiet at night. The rates are reasonable, and I would not hesitate to stay here again. I recommend SURF HOUSE without hesitation. A+

They advertise an "after hours number" they DO NOT answer. We stayed here for one night and went out on the strip until around 10pm and when we returned we realized we forgot our key in the room. We went to the front desk which was locked and dark. To preface this I completely understand it's on us for forgetting a key. But, no answer on any of the 3 phone lines provided and one was specifically for "guests only, after hours" after a couple hours, MANY calls and voicemails later, we decided to call the non emergent police line which we were told they were unable to help without permission from the owner - they also tried calling the number they had with no answer either and we were advised to either sleep in our car or book another hotel. We called all 4 businesses they have shown on their building assuming they're owned by the same people, no one was able to help there either. We ended up able to unlock our vehicle from our phone and sleep in it (we had no actual keys as they were locked in the room too) we continued to call the after hours line throughout the night and into the morning but we ended up locked out of our room from 10:30pm to 8am when the front desk opened. The front desk manager (I'm blanking on her name) was lovely, super friendly and apologetic but explained someone else named "dalton" was responsible for the after hours phone and clearly completely neglected to answer. She refunded the cost of our room which was great and gave us a couple gift cards to local restaurants ($35 worth), but really it didn't take away the fact that we had the worst experience in a hotel ever, we would've much preferred to just be able to sleep in the room. Again, decent motel, absolutely awful customer service, if you stay please triple check you have your keys when leaving/you have everything you need before they close.
