Very friendly staff, great location right next to Marginal Way entrance and center of village, and great great views of the water. The Sparhawk rooms are right at the water's edge and you have wonderful unimpeded views of the Atlantic, Ogunquit Beach, Little Beach and the outlet of the Ogunquit River, with the mesmerizing tides. Plus the views are due east and the sunrises are amazing. However- though the rooms are clean and comfortable with a private patio or balcony, there are some misses for a higher end "resort" property. Our balcony door's deadbolt lock didn't work (which is a safety issue!), the bathroom sink's drain stopper was broken, the walls are rather thin so you easily hear your neighbors (and snorers), and we had ants in the bathroom. Plus it would be nice to have in-room amenities like a coffee-maker (coffee, tea, hot water are available in the lobby but only starting at 7AM, so early birds like us in need of a morning brew are out of luck) and mini-fridge (for keeping those leftovers or desserts fresh - instead, we had to wastefully throw them out). The complimentary Continental breakfast is welcome but the offerings are on the scant side - there should at least be cut fruit available and it would be nice to have hot fresh oatmeal instead of instant oatmeal packets. There are many other choices to stay in Ogunquit that offer such amenities and are more sound-proofed, though perhaps not with the amazing views that Sparhawk offers. But if The Sparhawk would like to be a top-notch stay, I think they need to up their game a little! read more

My wife and I needed a getaway, Ogunquit is her favorite place. We found an available room at the Sparhawk Oceanfront Resort. We arrived 4 hours before check in and the Gentleman that was running the front desk (busily) was extremely friendly and professional (owner??). He gave us a parking pass so we wouldn't have to move our truck. Sparhawk is right at the entrance to the Marginal Way , we walked to Perkins cove for lunch then back to check in. Still a little early, but the had everything ready for us. The room was very clean and nicely laid out with the bed and chairs both facing the ocean. It also has a nice deck with 2 chairs a lounger and small table overlyhe ocean. Definitely will return! read more

The view is 10/10. Right on the water, like literally feet away. Room is clean and comfy. We like it here a lot.

This is not the most luxurious resort but it is in the most beautiful spot right at the entrance to The Marginal Way and the rooms are clean and well maintained and the personal service is definitely Old School and the price of a stay is ridiculously low! Been here twice and would definitely come back again! You can walk to all the shopping and restaurants on the main drag! This place is a gem! read more

My parents have stayed at this hotel many times in the upper level of the Sparhawk building which they said was very nice. For our stay we originally booked a room at the sea wall level of the Sparhawk building which I was excited about since the water was right below the outdoor porch. However we extended our stay a day and this room wasn't available all the nights so our stay would need to be split between two rooms. We checked out our room and found it to be worn with holes in the window screen which is not the experience my parents had on the upper floors. We decided we would ask to view the room in the Ireland House that was open all 3 nights. For the extra $20 a night we chose to stay in the Ireland House which was perfect as it was clean and modern and it had a seating area with a 2nd TV in the room. The hotel grounds were well maintained for the most part! Breakfast was extremely basic but the muffins were made on site daily. read more

Their cancellation policy, high prices, and lack of flexibility makes me very angry. My mom booked a room and then had to cancel because she had an injury. Then when I said I might as well use the room (because they wouldn't refund her money though she called six day in advance), they wouldn't let me have it, because she did not say at the time of cancellation she wanted to give it to me. The rude person (manager) I spoke too instructed me of their policy in a super snotty way. OK. I get it. Legal. But still really unpleasant. No flexibility for an accident and they clearly rebooked the room, as do not have a room for me to use, so they are making $600 for a room, rather than letting me have a room or letting my mom have her money back. read more

We really looked forward to our stay, but we were disappointed and we will not be returning. We come twice a year for a week and we were always interested in this spot as it is close to where we usually stay, so we decided to try it out. Why we won't return: 1. We were traveling with a very active almost 10 month old who loves water, so we specifically booked here due to their heated outdoor pool. Though, upon check in and only once I asked, I was told the pool heater was broken. No real apologizes or anything to try to repair the fact that it was broken , just that it was broken. This started off our trip on a bad foot as I not only called and verified a pool before booking, but also booked it specifically because of this. There are very few places that have a pool, so I feel like if it is advertised, guests should be alerted in it isn't working in advance to their stay or at least told upon check in... without having to be asked. 2. When we arrived to our room, I put my breastmilk in the refrigerator, just to find when returning that the refrigerator was OFF and so my breastmilk and all our child's yogurts and pouches that we brought were then unable to be used. The store bought products, weren't a huge issue, but the breastmilk surely was and just caused extra stress throughout the trip. For any breastfeeding mamas, you can only feel my pain and sadness. 3. The view from our room wasn't great. It said all the rooms had ocean views, but ours was minimal at best and didn't really enhance our stay. The porch was also nice, but many places have them in the area and this wasn't as good as I had hoped. 4. The heating system was a bit odd and the room was either super hot or super cold, which was also hard with a 10 month old. One thing I will say, is it was clean which was good and the cleaning staff was very friendly. I'm sure it is great place for adults without children, but if you have kids (or 1 kiddo), I would highly suggest finding somewhere else. read more

We've been coming to Ogunquit for about 30 years and have stayed in many different hotels. At this time in our lives my husband uses a wheelchair and we specifically requested an accessible room at The Sparhawk. We were comfortable with the room location, the access to handicapped parking and the beautiful oceanfront view. However, there is a large step at the room entry which makes it impossible for my husband to use his wheelchair for entry and exit. The room is small and difficult to navigate with the wheelchair. (Can't turn around). The only feature that makes this room accessible are the grab bars in the shower. However, the bathroom doorway is not wide enough to allow passage of the wheelchair to get close to the shower. The continental breakfast was very very basic. Although it is nice enough, this hotel is not for us, or any person using a wheelchair. read more

My husband and I just came back home from a wonderful birthday/anniversary long weekend!!! This resort is everything it promises to be, and more. We chose Oceanfront on the top floor and our room had the most amazing views of the ocean. We sat on our deck every morning and drank our coffee with no care in the world. The room was immaculately clean, we felt completely safe. The staff was very welcoming and friendly and efficient. They are so well organized during this pandemic. It was absolutely a breeze!!! The continental breakfast was so yummy, they have coffee and tea until 9PM every day, which was awesome. Anyone looking to just RELAX and CHILL, must stay here. Honestly, THE best location for a 'room with a view'! It's like being on a ship without the movement! We basically were ON the water! So, 5 ***** for that! The hospitality (read: staff) is perfect! The rooms, though fresh and clean, are a bit tired. Seems like the smallest touches could remedy that. Beds are comfortable. Refrigerator in room- always a bonus! We stayed in the off season and couldn't have been more pleased with the overall experience. The proximity to the Marginal Way walking path, town and beach is also a bonus, though you can definitely find that elsewhere! read more

My girlfriend and I just had an awesome weekend at the Sparhawk Resort! Surrounded by perfectly new, classic, furnishings, the beautiful ocean, quiet guests twice my age, and a supremely helpful staff (specifically Cam who booked my room and greeted us upon arrival)... this type of weekend getaway is right up my alley. They had a great breakfast, fairly standard for a nice resort. Hard boiled eggs, homemade muffins, toast, bagels, yogurt, oatmeal, coffee, and juice. I even went and got a tray and had a delicious breakfast in my room. Our room was in the newly remodeled Barbara Dean house (it smelled like new carpet and just incredibly clean)! We had a view of the ocean across the back parking lot and our own private deck. At night, you could hear the waves from the mighty Atlantic! The grounds are immaculate with a tennis court and shuffleboard. On our last day they allowed us to keep our car in the parking lot while we walked the "Marginal Way", a paved path along the ocean that leads to Perkins Cove, past a very small lighthouse. I would highly recommend this resort for anyone looking for that relaxing, romantic getaway that is within walking distance of all that Ogunquit has to offer! read more

Our favorite place in Maine, the Sparhawk is a very special place. Providing the setting for a wonderful family vacation, the staff is so accommodating and welcoming. Serving a lovely continental breakfast in a beautiful dining room from 7:00 to 10:00 in the morning. The room is available all day for games and fun, serving coffee and tea all day. The rooms come in a wide variety of choices, from suites to smaller rooms overlooking the ocean. All of them are beautifully appointed and comfortable. You will love it here too. read more

We spent our 16th year at this warm, friendly and relaxing resort in June, 2012. We wouldn't keep coming back all these years if this wasn't, truly, a wonderful place to stay. The rooms and beautiful grounds (especially the flower beds on the Marginal Way) are always well-maintained and impeccably clean. There is a continental breakfast, a tennis court and a heated pool (my guesstimate is eighty Fahrenheit in mid-June). The staff and management are as unfailingly cheerful and helpful and our few minor requests over the years have always been promptly handled. One is right in the middle of Ogunquit. It is a six or seven minute walk to Perkin's Cove and in three or four minutes you are in the town. The Marginal Way runs unobstruively through the property so you can always take that alternate route to Perkins Cove. You will enjoy your stay at the Sparhawk! read more

Great place! Quiet and the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in! Our room was directly ocean front and when the tide came in the water lapped at the seawall. They serve a continental breakfast each morning with good coffee and muffins! We put in a room request for next year. They do that. In February they will email us to complete the reservation. If you love oceanfront and the marginal way, the Sparhawk is THE place to stay. It's right on the marginal way, and the rooms all have direct ocean views and a balcony literally feet from the water's edge. Sure the Anchorage next door has their nice adirondack chairs on the lawn, but it does not have the direct oceanfront rooms- and its almost twice the price of the Sparhawk! We stay here in the off-season (in season requires 7 night minimum) usually in April, and pay 105-110 a night. That includes a decent continental breakfast. The rooms are a little dated but spotless, with comfy chairs facing the ocean. You seriously could sit in your room and enjoy the view all day. The staff was great, even letting me check out a room before booking. If you can, get top floor, you will get the most sun. Even then the sun is gone by early afternoon. The decks are not private, but that did not seem to be a problem. Older people seem to stay here, and thats fine with me- they tend to be good neighbors. There is an outdoor pool and a tennis court, books and games in the breakfast room. Its really close to the center of town, right at the entrance to the marginal way. It's simply a really nice place for an off-season Ogunquit getaway. read more

Our first night at this motel was one of the worst I have ever spent at any hotel or motel. The sheets on both beds (two queen beds) were never changed b/f we checked in. (Multiple hairs on each bed and marks where bodies had been.) When I called the front desk, I was told the woman I spoke with was the only person on duty and that when the night time security guard came on at 9:30, they would look for clean sheets and deliver them. True to her word, the front desk clerk delivered two sets of clean sheets then assisted us as we changed both beds! The next morning when I went to the manager to tell her about our experience, she let me know that she had checked in with the house keeping manager and that the sheets had actually been changed prior to our arrival. I honestly could not believe my ears. The manager was so dismissive of me and my concerns- she basically could care less about having clean rooms- it was more important to her that her staff told her the room was cleaned. She basically called me a liar. I honestly would have checked out right then, but we had to PREPAY our 5 night stay at check in....I have never heard of that and I should have been skeptical from the start. If this isn't enough to scare you away, please know their internet coverage is almost nonexistent and they could care less about making it better. When my husband inquired about it, he was told that is the way it is here. Finally, the breakfast that is included with your room is so poorly put out (everyone has to wait in line while one person toasts something- they should put the toaster off to the side) , it was the exact same food every morning, and there were no healthily choices. The only fresh fruit were bananas. I would steer clear of the Sparhawk. read more
