My wife and I recently stayed at The Grand Hotel in Ogunquit Maine. We have stayed at this hotel on several occasions. We have always found this hotel to have a friendly staff, clean rooms and we like the fact we can park in their garage under the hotel. On our recent trip we actually met the owner, Andrew, who helped educate us on how to use the room thermostat. He is a down to earth guy who thoroughly enjoys working in the hospitality industry. On our next trip to Ogunquit we will definitely be staying at The Grand again. read more

I'm happy to say that the Grand Hotel continued to be a comfortable place to stay post-pandemic, just as it was pre-pandemic (our last time we stayed!). The only change is that they no longer offer a complimentary continental breakfast (they still offer coffee and tea in the lobby from 7AM to 12 noon), so you'll have to forage on your own (but a morning stroll into the village for a breakfast sandwich is not really so bad). Service continued to be attentive and room-cleaning prompt. The 2-room suites we had were spacious with a king bed, sofa-bed, balcony, microwave, coffee-maker, mini-fridge, and sound machine. The attitude of the manager Heïdi and the way she treated us colored our trip... if I have to say positive comments, the hotel is clean and well located if you like walking. We had booked August 16 via booking and we called the hotel to add August 17... however, the hotel made a mistake and reserved us for the 15th rather than the 17th. We understand that there is had a mistake, that's not the problem but the way we were treated by the manager Heïdi when we showed up at the hotel and her total lack of consideration; rolls his eyes, sighs, gets impatient, refuses to give us his full name and that of his boss, refuses to help us find a solution, refuses to let my children use the toilet even to give us access to the site and chases us away threatening to call the police, running out of arguments, Although she had charged the entire reservation for the day...all this in front of the children who are traumatized...what a lack of ethics, respect, professionalism. Terrible customer service. Over priced. Rude staff. Really can't find much good about this place. Wasn't even that close to the beach.

I'm not a fan of leaving bad reviews but this place treatment and poor customer service etiquette has been disappointed. We booked a room while planning to a fun visit to this town. A week prior we got Covid and called to cancel or postpone. The place is refusing to credit the charge and alleged they needed to resell the room in order to credit. Closer to the date we called again. These people can't even offer a credit for a future stay. They're outright keeping the money in exchange for nothing. Owner had relayed rude responses through his employees to us. Very disappointing. read more

We're regular visitors to Ogunquit, and had previously stayed at another hotel, but we were looking for somewhere with a little more space, as we were traveling with our almost four year old son. We liked the idea of a suite, so that we'd have a room to ourselves after we put him to bed. We really enjoyed our stay at the Grand Hotel. The staff was friendly, and the room was clean and just the right amount of space for the three of us. Our son slept really comfortably on the sofa bed, and our bedroom was very comfortable. The little "kitchen" area (microwave, large dorm-sized fridge, small sink, and some cabinets for storage) gave us space to store some groceries we'd brought with us for packed lunches on the beach. The indoor pool is simple (it's a large round pool that's about 3.5 feet deep all around), but was nice to relax in after a day of walking around or even after being at the beach. The continental breakfast isn't glamorous, but it's got the basics for a morning snack. I agree with some of the other reviews that the decor is a bit dated, but the rooms are clean and inviting, so I didn't mind the decor at all. The fact that there's parking underneath the hotel makes things easy to get things in and out of the room. There's also some nice family-friendly extras, like a library of DVDs, books, and board games that you can check out from the front desk at no charge. Location is great. It's a bit closer to Perkins Cove (5 minute walk) vs. the center of town/the beach, but it's a 15 minute walk down to the beach, so it checked the box of not really needing to drive around anywhere. There's also a trolley stop right outside the front door, if you'd prefer to grab the trolley to ride around the area. We spent one night here last night so we could attend the Paul Sullivan and Con Fullam concert. We drove into the garage and immediately found a space. We had packed so we only had to bring our small bags in and happily the elevator was right there. We arrived early and Heidi welcomed us and checked us in though the room was not yet ready. She gave us the wifi code. Alan and I made tea and sat in rocking chairs on the front porch to watch traffic pass by. Their wifi and phone service were going in and out and we were going to head back to the Wells library to work on the computer, the Ogunquit library being closed between12 and 2, but then the wifi came back on. I set up the computer at a small table in the breakfast area. At about 1:30 Heidi came over and told me the room was ready. We brought up our stuff, including the bags of cold liquids, the goat cheese and some fruit from the car so we could keep them cold in the room's refrigerator. We so appreciated her thoughtfulness and hospitality! She also helped us w/ scheduling dinner reservations at Roost. The room was on the first floor and was a bit noisy during the day, but quite comfortable and quiet at night. The suite was nicely laid out and roomy, w/ a comfortable king size bed and ample storage space in dresser drawers and the closet. The bathroom was well laid out and attractively decorated. It had lots of space on the counter for cosmetics and sundries. My only concern was that the bathtub didn't have grab bars. The living room was comfortable and functional. Alan went out to the breakfast room and got a little morning glory muffin and something wonderful that was cut up, full of seeds and other healthy, tasty goodies like coconut and I don't know what all else. Suffice it to say it held me until we got our lobster rolls at Red's Eats in Wiscasset. He also brought me a cup of tea, which started my morning off right. But I will say, the high point of our stay was Heidi and the rest of the staff we encountered. read more

We came back twice! Both times we were very very happy with our accommodations and the amazing customer service. In July of 2019, we had a different third floor room and it was just as lovely. All in all I do think upgrading to the third floor provides much more room and opportunity to be outside without leaving your hotel! This is a great place to stay and as the other review says, it is perfectly located between downtown and Perkins Cove making for an easy walk to either place. The room is a small suite and very comfortable. We were two adults and two kids and found it to be the perfect place to come back to from our day's activities. The continental breakfast was better than most and included hard boiled eggs (mandatory for low carb folks). The lobby coffee and breakfast coffee was reasonably tasty. The hot tub and indoor pool were very convenient. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Parking under the hotel with an elevator made coming and going a snap. Good selection of loaner DVDs so we stayed in one night and ordered pizza. Just perfect. Excellent WiFi and Internet speed. read more

We enjoyed our 4 days here. Simple, no major frills. The king suite was a nice size to keep us and our 8 month old. Indoor heated pool but it was very cold week days and very hot on weekends. Outdoor hot tub. An easy walk to marginal way and Perkins cove, ogunquit beach and downtown ogunquit. The refrigerator didn't work but we didn't even complain. Simple breakfasts - cold carbs basically. But the staff was really so nice. It Did what we needed and was clean. Will probably stay here or at one of their sister properties again. read more

I booked this Hotel through Booking.com. Confirmed for 2 nights, gave credit card information & received confirmation. About an hour later, I get an email from Heidi at The Grand Hotel saying she could not honor my reservation as the room was no longer available. I asked why when I already had given my credit card & received confirmation. The only answer she would provide was the room was no longer available. When I proceeded to try to get an explanation, she told me that she was all set with me. I was absolutely taken aback by Heidi's rudeness. I would NEVER stay at a place where a customer is spoken to with such disregard. Anyway, I found a MUCH better alternative just down the street at The Admiral's Inn. read more

The hotel is nice but not terribly convenient without the trolly. You are more than half mile from Perkins cove and more than half mile from downtown. Additionally. After riding in a car for two hours to get here. We went to check in. We were early. That was fine. We asked where the bathroom was . My partner is seventy five with a cane. We were advised it was not open to the public. But we were guest. There is a hot tub and pool off the lobby both open but no rest room? We were told to walk .7 Mike to perkinse cove to use the public rest room there! When we tried to that wasn't a valid choice base on age etc. We were told by the front desk we were being rude and inconsiderate. So if walking could be an issue, skip this place. read more

Overall not bad so far! They have decent parking underneath the hotel which was kind of cool as well as surprising. You don't expect that in Maine, especially on Shore Road in Ogunquit. Rooms are a little dated. Someone commented out how ugly the coaches are. Yes, they are ugly, but the coaches at least look newish, maintained, and clean. Best thing about this place is location, location, location. Right on Shore Road in Ogunquit. Wish it was ocean-side though. Great place to walk to everything. read more

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for the first time in August and were very pleased with our accommodations. Staff was friendly, our suite was spacious and very comfortable. We also enjoyed a great complimentary breakfast buffet. Location was excellent and close to Perkins Cove and Marginal Way. We parked our car in hotel' s underground garage and did not take it out until our trip was done. We will definitely return to the Grand Hotel. Highly recommend it. read more

This hotel wasn't terrible but for the price I paid (almost 600 bucks for two nights) I definitely expected more. The room was fine...king sized bed, living room and kitchenette. The "indoor pool" was VERY small and only 3.5 feet deep...more like a kiddie pool you'd have in your backyard. They do offer some amenities, like an larger pool, however, you have to leave the site to enjoy them. It is convenient if you want to go to Perkins Cove...just a 5 minute walk. We had dinner at Barnicle Billy's on our first night there...(make sure you bring your wallet, that's gonna cost ya). All in all I would say there's really nothing GRAND about it. read more

I stayed here this past weekend with my girlfriend, and it definitely left a favorable impression on me. We took advantage of their Springtime in Maine package, which included dinner at the Clay Hill Farm (see that review for more). As for the hotel itself, the rooms are a good size, with a living room area, kitchenette, and sizeable bedroom. The hotel also has a heated pool, which was great but somewhat on the small side; it was just the two of us swimming in it and it was fine, but had people been there, especially with children, it would have been too much. One nice thing about The Grand is the location; it's within walking distance of Perkins Cove, and it's pretty close to the center of town. Also, the surrounding area is crawling with restaurants, including the Blue Elephant (Thai), The Impastable Dream, and 98 Provence. You certainly won't go hungry staying here! Not to mention the complimentary continental breakfast they offer every morning (though, since it ends at 10, we never got up early enough for it...). All in all, I think the Grand Hotel was a great choice for a weekend getaway, and would readily recommend it! Definitely check out their website for information on their packages, too! read more

My husband and have been on a road trip through New England. Staying at several inns /hotels I decided to write reviews concerning our 3 favorite & 1 least liked. The Grand Hotel was a favorite! Our room was 102. The room was a large clean suite, the living area was ample. I always appreciate a balcony/porch (am not a smoker) and this inn's porch did not disappoint. The breakfast was continental, yet sufficient. Our foremost compliment would have to go to to Philipp the desk attendant. Without asking he handed us a map and went into detail of what to do, marking the map as he went. We probably would have missed the Marginal Walkway without his help, a short walk from the inn. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here on our most recent trip to Maine. We loved how close it was to Perkins cove and to downtown ogunquit. Both were just a few minutes away. The trolly also went right by the hotel which was convenient for going to/from the beach. The hotel itself is really nice. We booked a king suite and was expecting something a lot smaller. We walked in to a large sectional couch with a flat screen tv, kitchen table, mini bar with sink, mini fridge, microwave. The bathroom was on the small side but it was very clean which is what really mattered to me. We also had a balcony outside our room which was a very pleasant surprise! I was a bit nervous when we first arrived because our room was located right outside the lobby on the first floor. I was worried that it would be very noisy in the morning from people coming and going/ getting breakfast. But it wasn't at all! The only people we could hear were the people above us. The parking was great we always got a garage spot under the building. Overall, it was a very pleasurable experience staying at the grand and we will definitely be back. read more

Stayed here in the off season, it was quiet but a nice getaway. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our first room had a small issue with one of the sinks (really wasn't a problem-we're not fussy) but they insisted on upgrading us to a suite room. Ended up staying an extra night!
