    View from patio deck

First time in Port Dover and went here with my in-laws for lunch. They knew it as Callahan's back in the day and this was their first time here in 5 years! The view from the patio which overlooked the beach and lake had to be some of the best views I saw in Port Dover. This was my first time ever ordering Perch for lunch and it wasn't bad! I started off with a bowl of Clam Chowder and you can tell it was fresh. The breading on the perch was cooked perfectly and fell off the fork as soon as you picked it up and the fries were crispy. For a lunch portion, it was a good size! The service was great and friendly.

Callahan's Beach House has very mixed reviews on Yelp. I decided to give the place the benefit of doubt when I came here with a group of 6 people on a Saturday evening. The place was not too full and we managed to get a table on the patio where the view was very nice. However, we were seated towards the end of the patio where there must have been a wind tunnel or something because it was EXTREMELY windy. Almost unbearable. The restaurant has a policy where they can't guarantee that you can be reseated indoors once you've been seated on the patio, which is fair enough but please do something about your patio situation. The table on the edge gets way too windy. We had to get blankets out of our trunks to keep warm and it only went downhill from here. We ordered some nachos to start, the nachos weren't too bad but it was made up of the weirdest ingredients. There was lettuce in the nachos, I have never seen that in my whole life. I ordered the seafood fettuccini or something. I don't remember what it was called but it was basically frozen seafood medley on creamed noodles. It was absolutely revolting. I have never had pasta that tasted so bad in my life. How can a restaurant even serve food like this? A third grader could make food better than this. I really wanted to give this place one star based on the seafood pasta but I decided to give it two because the view was good and the nachos weren't too bad. I wouldn't recommend coming here but if you do, don't order the seafood pasta.

Now Simply Called 'The Beach House' Nothing to do on a cool winters day? Do what I did, grab a few friends and head down to The Beach House in Port Dover, formerly Callahans Beach House. This newly named hot spot is the place to go for fresh and locally sourced fish. Not only is this rustic haven for the #beachbum you'll find all kinds of folks here dining in the various settings here. Being a big fan of local fish species and in the mood for some great seafood. I started with a very palatable take on Mussels - They were fresh and not one of them didn't open, the broth had a great depth of flavour and was not overpowering the flavour of the mussels. Next was one of my favourites!! Seafood Chowder !! Now for an interesting fact, both my Mother and my Grandfather were ChowderGurus and although they are both not here anymore, I pay them homage by weeding out bad chowders everywhere!! So this chowder had a very good base, not too thick and not curdled, it had lumps of fresh fish, and the base had a great balance!! This was a good chowder!! Next up was the main course and for that, I choose the broiled Perch. This dish is great for those who don't want the fish or sauced and it is served gently sautéed veggies and a most wonderful, light and refreshing Jasmine rice Sprinkled with diced fresh vegetables. The pieces of Perch we're pleasantly plump and not overcooked, fresh and very good. The fish was fall off the fork good !! This meal certainly hit the spot and it was so worth the drive to Port Dover.

Lovely place on the lake. You can sit inside and on the patio outside or the sand patio. The stuff were dressed up for Halloween. Friendly stuff. Food was created in good time. The food was very appetizing

Beautiful location! Patio seating right by the water was fantastic on a nice sunny day. Unfortunately, once the food came out we had to fight off wasps and seagulls. The restaurant did their best, setting a pitcher of pop by the water to keep the wasps away, but I don't think it was 100% effective. Food seems to be hit and miss. The perch dinner and perch on a bun were absolutely delicious 5 stars. However, the clam chowder was extremely salty.

Right on the beach, Callahan's is a spot we have been eating at for 35 years! Their latest menu is very well presented & includes lobster in a few of the dishes. My husband loves the perch & I usually pick a pasta. Great owners! Very faithful to the community & to the advancement of the local food scene

we have been going here for years since they opened, the food has always been enjoyable and I do love the variety of choices the menu offers, I havent seen their latest menu so do look forward to going back :) the images here were from a visit we did during the christmas season, I know i have more photos to share of the tasty food we have experienced, Im not overly crazy about fries but their poutine was delicious I loved how they made them large homestyle fries. We always enjoyed the waterfront view they have.

Palm trees in Ontario.. awesome view with patio seating available.

Came here for a weekend lunch and the lineups for outdoor seating looked pretty long so we decided on sitting indoors. We still got a nice view of the beach and palm trees so no complaints. We had the snack size knectal style perch with fries and a special- the Greek burger. Food- the perch was delicious, however I wasn't really a fan of the knectal style batter.. I would recommend the Panko crust if you're not huge on thick batter on fish. Fries were a good portion as well. The Greek salad burger was a bit messy, but the party was delicious. The food took a while compared to big city restaurants, but we weren't in a hurry so didn't mind. The service was good and the servers were friendly and always smiling. I would definitely recommend this place and come back again if I visit port Dover.

Visited Port Dover on Sept 29, 2018. After done walking out was time for lunch. With the beautiful palm trees in the sand I decided this place and the food was awesome. I ordered the jerk pickeral and it was flavorful. I really wanted the fish and chips ... but I'm gluten intolerant. The nice thing about this restaurant is that they serve fish caught from lake Erie.

The food was also delicious. I'm a sucker for fresh cut fries and they did not disappoint at all. I had a foot-long hotdog and it was a great quality beef hotdog... and the roll it was on was delicious, not just a regular hotdog roll. Now for the star of the show and what brought us there (even though it was a two hour ride from Buffalo, NY) was the dill pickle poutine... and it was worth the drive. Something different that was also delicious, two thumbs up. I didn't taste the burger but my daughter said it was delicious also... it was on a nice roll and they even toasted that also. Great job guys, we will be back.

I ordered the tiny sizes, but still, I wish they could just combine the two delicious dishes into one. All my questions were answered at the window (wasn't busy), and the food was hot & ready in moments. The grackles were delighted that I tossed a couple extra fries their way. While this is 'just a food truck', it's also something very special. The area is known for boating and birdwatching, and you really feel like you've arrived at the soul of the place watching over the mini harbor from the two picnic tables. A tiny little spot, but worth stopping.

Came here to celebrate Mother's Day…read more This smart dressy dress code restaurant was very cozy and intimate. It was a wonderful atmosphere with soft instrumental music and the ability to hear the conversation of people at your table. To start, there was toasted bread with feta cheese and dill pickles. The starter salad was a huge supper entree size plate. The choice wax garden or Cesar. You could get the French Onion soup instead. Had the main Filet Peppercorn sauce. Asked for medium rare and it was amazing but it had a little much gravy for my liking. The baked potato side was a nice side (not too big) which came with butter and sour cream versus having french fries. Veggies were a few string beans, a slice of a big carrot and a piece of red sweet pepper. The plating of such fine expensive entrees was not very sophisticated. Thought it would be plated much nicer than it did. The server was very friendly and helpful. Chefs were accommodating to special requests and the food was excellent. A nice, special occasions/ celebration restaurant. It is better than a chain restaurant.
