It was a hot August day so the place was packed, but we managed to snag a table inside (which was better anyway, given the temperature outside). I'd heard that the perch is the thing to get, so I ordered the Panko Breaded Perch Dinner ("Hand-dipped in panko breadcrumbs and fried to perfection. Served with house made coleslaw and French Fries"). It arrived quite a while later and it's fine. The perch had obviously been sitting around a while, as it wasn't hot and kind of soggy. It's also weird that they're such small pieces, given the cost of the platter. But the fries were good, at least. It's obvious that the main draw at The Beach House is the ambiance and the view of the water. And yeah, that view was pretty great.

We decided to go in spite of the negative reviews we had been hearing. I can sum up our experience in four words: Not worth the money My beef tenderloin, though cooked to my liking, was gristly, not something I would expect at $72. However, what irked us most is the petty nickeling and dimeing. You have to pay for bread ($19). In most upscale restaurants like the Olde Schoolhouse in Brantford, bread is complimentary. Secondly, main courses come with only ONE side. if you want potato AND a vegetable you pay an extra $5. For me, the final straw came when I was asked if I wanted mushrooms with my beef. There was no mention by the waitperson of an extra cost. I assumed mushrooms came as an option on the plate, like gravy. No, an additional $12 was added to the bill. We have learned our lesson. The prices at David's are frankly extortionist which the beautiful views of the lake do not ameliorate. In future, if we want an upscale dining experience, we are going to the Olde Schoolhouse in Brantford which provides much better value for money.

Highly recommend coming here if you're in the area. Can't wait to try some other nosh another time. It was a non busy season visit on a Wednesday so that's why there was no line up at all and this is one of the main reasons why we went there today.

I can't remember who told me about this place, but I subsequently started following their fb page and their offerings looked so tantalizing, that I made it a point to come here and visit. They also serve light lunches, but I came here for the sweets. They have a cute, covered patio where you can enjoy your food. However, during my visit, I saw lotsa locals swing by to grab takeout! It's not cheap (cake slices ~$6), but the Urban Slice that I had was FRESH, not too sweet! I would've loved to have picked up more items, but I just came from the farmer's market with a pack of butter tarts, so anything else would've been OTT. Cute place with quality baked goods!

Willie's never disappoints!…read more Every-time I make a trip to Port Dover Beach, I make sure to get my soft-serve fix at Willie's. It's now a tradition! If you're in the mood for diner food, this is your place! Also, elsewhere will either take too long or be an dine-in restaurant. Now, don't set your expectations too high because this is a beach diner. Fish & Chips & some soft serve is all you can expect. I once made the mistake of ordering a salad--or the sad sister of thereof. I got a pile of lettuce with a baggie of croutons and something that resembled ground turkey. Voila! They call it a Caesar Salad. Don't make the same mistake. Port Dover is famous for their perch and this is exactly what you should order. The portions are always generous but not overwhelming--nobody wants to eat too much at the beach anyways. Their fries are pretty good, but I find it depends on when they changed the oil (typical diner problems). If you're a beach-goer, this is your spot! Every time I go to Port Dover, I make sure to grab Willie's takeout and eat under the palm trees (yes palm trees). So long Willie's, until next year!

I have been there twice in the past month and there are improvements that need to be made or I don't think I'll be back. The first time I was with two friends. I'll start on a positive note by saying the food was delicious. However, you do not allow someone to come in with food from Yin's and eat out of the cartons at one of the tabes within the restaurant and then when he is finished eating, allow him to proceed behind the bar and pour shots for himself and waitresses. This spoils the atmosphere! The last time I went was with my family on May 7. We were celebrating Mother's Day and my birthday. The waitress was elderly and needed some help. I knew it was going downhill when I ordered my drink which was a $15 Pina Colada. Upon arrival to the table, I told the waitress that I didn't order a Martini as it arrived in a martini glass and she said no it was a pina colada. It was disgusting ... I got a half martini glass full with whip cream filling the rest of the glass and no garnish. I think the bar tender needs lessons as there is no whip cream on a pina colada and there needs to be a lovely pineapple garnish. Also, pina coladas are served in tall glasses! I had ordered the lamb shank, medium rare, at $38 and the carrot soup. The soup was very tasty; however, the lamb was another story. Now mind you, I did not know that lamb shanks were braised and supposedly very tender. As a result I asked for medium rare, which the waitress should have told me was not possible and why. The meat, I found, impossible to eat as it was very well done and a little stringy. Also, there was NO gravy, NO mint jelly and NO bread. Apparently, they were out of mint jelly! Had I not been with my family, who do not like confrontations and paid the bill, I would have said something and at minimum returned my drink and asked for a discount on my meal! Later today, I spoke with Alison, the owner, and she said that I should not have had to pay for my drink; however, she did not offer a refund. Nor did she offer a discount for my meal. This is the least I was expecting. This is very poor business acumen. I should also mention that in our phone call she went on about some special sauce for their lamb shank which I did not get. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!

It was pretty busy and one of the servers was a bit pushy but the food, coffee and drinks were good. Their deli sandwich was good ($6.50) but there was too much bread. We got rid of the top half of the bread. Their chocolate croissant was good but hardly any chocolate. We really liked their deviled eggs 1 for $1 with a nice hint of onion flavour. And their coffee, hot chocolate and mango lemonade was good. This is a very nice bakery. I'm surprised it's not on the Main Street. We'll definitely go back again to try the other items and eat their deviled eggs again.
