The staff is exceptional, Pete has this place running like a top! This time we stayed in Barn Suite 2 and I think this may now be my new favorite room. The shower is unbelievable and the room well appointed. And breakfast? The best! They make scones daily and each day is a different main breakfast. They also provide ice tea and either a sangria or other type drink along with house made cookies (best I've ever had) as well as Whoopie pies and mixed nuts and snack mix.

We especially loved the large salt water hot tub and mid-day snacks (mixed nuts and large chocolate chip cookies - which were delicious). They also offer a mixed drink and wine at the self serve bar during the day. We stayed in the King 7 room and it was spacious. We loved the rain shower head. I also highly recommend the chocolate sampler box add on! We had the chocolate and champagne available at check in which was a nice touch. The hot tub was often quiet around 8pm and made for the perfect end of evening activity. They have an ample selection of towels and robes by the pool that are available to use. We also enjoyed a couples massage offered by the inn. Breakfast was very yummy! Each day there is a large selection of options you can pick and choose from. They had the breakfast offering for the day displayed and then you check off what you want with a marker on a short form. The inn is about a 10 minute walk from Footbridge beach, which was awesome. Overall I would recommend for any weekend getaway or celebration!

The common area is meant to reflect a certain period, so it's not to be critiqued in my opinion. The issue is communication and overall responsiveness. The webiste did not reflect some of the glitches they had. For example, our room was listed as first floor. When we arrived, it was up a narrow spiral staircase, which is unacceptable. It also smelled musty and made me nervous to be up there in case of fire. I did not know how we would even get our luggage up there. No where in their website, email or anywhere was that mentioned. The inn runs on a remote basis. We called the desk and we were changed to a real first floor room, but the problem came the next day. We got up early and waited for breakfast. When we left the room to go down the hall to find breakfast, nothing was set up. My husband called the desk and the receptionist said, " Oh no breakfast because it's off season". It was April 25th- April 26th when we stayed. She said that they would serve breakfast starting in May. Again, the welcome email said that they were serving pastries from a nearby bakery called Bread and Roses. It said nothing about off-season rates means that there is no breakfast. Their website said nothing about it. The worst part is that after he called, our room code did not work. We were locked out. Now normally I take a phone and a pocketbook and luckily I took my phone. Imagine if I didn't? My husband still struggled with the door lock and the receptionist had to struggle with it. We decided to just leave rather than walk the beach, as our experience was ruined by being locked out. Lo and behold, as we were loading the car, it happened again. My husband left an item in the room. We could not get back in to get it. We just gave up and drove away. I woul have looked the other way, but we have written to the author and posted about this and no apologies were made, no compensation. It's a darn shame because compared to other places we have stayed, this was not a good experience, nor was it a good value.

Plus, it was a bit noisy at 7am -I could hear the people on the floor above me using the bathroom and creaking floors when they walked; I could also hear them putting out breakfast in the sunroom below with the clanging of the dishes and the doors closing. If you prefer to stay at a bed-and-breakfast, then this might be a good place for you. The house was nicely furnished; my Junior suite was clean and fairly comfortable (although for some odd reason, the furniture was unusually low to the ground), and it was interesting from a historical perspective. It just really wasn't my style. One last FYI if you decide to stay there - there's no yard or street signage at any of the houses except the Nathaniel Lord Mansion - I drove around in circles looking for the Jefferds house.....

Most rooms have a private half or full bath (ours was a halfbath). Very comfortable bed, with fluffy pillows and comforter. The full bathroom was right next door and easy access. We had a bountiful snack basket in our room with bottles of water. It's just a few blocks walk Perkins cove with the shops and eateries. They are very conscious of the risk of covid and properly sanitized. During a time when travel can be more scary than fun, they take your concerns away. We arrived well after midnight on our check in day due to flight changes, and both Robert and Marsha were awake and waiting, ready to greet their weary late night travelers. After a quick tour, it was off to bed, only to be greeted by a gorgeous (and recently renovated) bedroom and private bath. (So nice, in fact, that family members almost cancelled their reservations at a nearby hotel). We were here for a wedding and became known as the "Party Couple" since we were flirting about, to and from receptions and the ceremony, and Robert and Marsha were more than accommodating at every opportunity. Plus, the house is less than a half mile from downtown (one direction) and Perkins Cove (the other direction). Takes literally minutes to walk to 3+ restaurants for Lobster Rolls (our favorite was Barnacle Billy's but Robert recommends Footbridge). When we left, we had a late flight and had experienced trouble getting Lyft and Uber in the area. Robert personally volunteered to drive us to Portland, ME for our flight so that we didn't miss our travel plans. I cannot rave enough about this gem in Ogunguit. Honestly, I thought about NOT reviewing it in an attempt to keep this gem hidden, but our hosts and stay were just too positive not to share. If you end up booking, tell them the party couple from Colorado sent ya!

We had a corner king room looking right at the beach. I was excited to drink my coffee on the balcony only to find the weather was not in our favor. Still, I was able to enjoy it at the big sliding windows in the room. We had turned on the fridge in the room to use it only to soon turn it off because it was so very noisy. I didn't use the shower at all because there is no heat in the bathroom and the floor (being right over the parking garage) was extremely cold. It just wasn't worth it but it means I can't comment on water pressure or anything else. It was a very comfortable bed and a nice, serviceable room. Bonus that the hand sink is outside the toilet/shower area. Wifi was no trouble for us and easy to connect to. Staff was very pleasant. The folks who stayed above us were not so pleasant and made a ton of noise very late at night (music, partying, etc). That's no fault of the staff or motel but was very frustrating in a nearly empty motel. If you have a tall SUV, you may want to park outside instead of in the garage. Though it's really great they do have plenty of parking figured out for being in such a congested area. It was so nice to be able to hop right down onto the beach from outside our room. We'll be back for sure, this is an excellent location.
