The Sparhawk rooms are right at the water's edge and you have wonderful unimpeded views of the Atlantic, Ogunquit Beach, Little Beach and the outlet of the Ogunquit River, with the mesmerizing tides. Plus the views are due east and the sunrises are amazing. However- though the rooms are clean and comfortable with a private patio or balcony, there are some misses for a higher end "resort" property. Our balcony door's deadbolt lock didn't work (which is a safety issue!), the bathroom sink's drain stopper was broken, the walls are rather thin so you easily hear your neighbors (and snorers), and we had ants in the bathroom. Plus it would be nice to have in-room amenities like a coffee-maker (coffee, tea, hot water are available in the lobby but only starting at 7AM, so early birds like us in need of a morning brew are out of luck) and mini-fridge (for keeping those leftovers or desserts fresh - instead, we had to wastefully throw them out). The complimentary Continental breakfast is welcome but the offerings are on the scant side - there should at least be cut fruit available and it would be nice to have hot fresh oatmeal instead of instant oatmeal packets. There are many other choices to stay in Ogunquit that offer such amenities and are more sound-proofed, though perhaps not with the amazing views that Sparhawk offers. But if The Sparhawk would like to be a top-notch stay, I think they need to up their game a little!

We especially loved the large salt water hot tub and mid-day snacks (mixed nuts and large chocolate chip cookies - which were delicious). They also offer a mixed drink and wine at the self serve bar during the day. We stayed in the King 7 room and it was spacious. We loved the rain shower head. I also highly recommend the chocolate sampler box add on! We had the chocolate and champagne available at check in which was a nice touch. The hot tub was often quiet around 8pm and made for the perfect end of evening activity. They have an ample selection of towels and robes by the pool that are available to use. We also enjoyed a couples massage offered by the inn. Breakfast was very yummy! Each day there is a large selection of options you can pick and choose from. They had the breakfast offering for the day displayed and then you check off what you want with a marker on a short form. The inn is about a 10 minute walk from Footbridge beach, which was awesome. Overall I would recommend for any weekend getaway or celebration!

The staff is exceptional, Pete has this place running like a top! This time we stayed in Barn Suite 2 and I think this may now be my new favorite room. The shower is unbelievable and the room well appointed. And breakfast? The best! They make scones daily and each day is a different main breakfast. They also provide ice tea and either a sangria or other type drink along with house made cookies (best I've ever had) as well as Whoopie pies and mixed nuts and snack mix.

However, if you're like me, and you want a full vacation experience and hotel with a lobby and some amenities, with a pool, private balcony, a room with a beach view, and a fun experience hanging out in the room on a rainy day, or relaxing at night with wine and cheese, just know this is a simple little place and not all rooms are spacious and have views - you will have to make sure you reserve one of the larger rooms with a view. And the hotel is all about location, not frills. We made our plans late and got a garden level room, which was clean and had a comfortable bed, but, well, it's a garden level room with no view, facing a parking lot, with ultra low ceilings and was kind of cramped. Still, it had a nicely redone newer bathroom and shower, a functional air conditioner and it was convenient that there was a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven (for slices) and a sink for dishes etc so you don't have to fill up your coffee maker with water from the bathroom sink lol! We got lucky and had beautiful beach weather for every day of our stay so we just used the room to shower and sleep and spent time at the beach, walking Marginal Way, exploring Perkins Cove, shopping, trying different restaurants and having ice cream at night on one of the many public benches for people watching. This hotel does have a pretty lawn with some tables and chairs for all guests to use and that was nice in the morning with coffee. But if you reserve and get a garden level room, I wouldn't recommend that in the off season, or if you are unlucky and get rainy weather.

When we arrived, I immediately partook in a warm homemade oatmeal raisin cookie and a hot cup of coffee offered in the lobby area, and my SIL & I sunk into the comfy leather couches to rest our feet. Wow- that really hit the spot after walking around Perkins Cove all afternoon! Our room was perfect. Beautiful views and the most comfortable bed (with the most luxurious sheets, btw!). The room came equipped with our own Keurig and fridge (with bottled waters) and Lindt chocolates, yum! Love the sliding pocket door leading to our bathroom and the cozy decor of the entire room. The Covid prevention at the inn was A+ excellent. Hand sanitizers everywhere and the entire inn was spotless clean. And even though we all wore masks, it was easy to see everyone who greeted us was smiling, especially Bruce! Extremely warm & friendly environment. I really LOVED breakfast and appreciated the ordering process: wipe-away mini menus where we checked off what we wanted to order. Brilliant! By the way- possibly the best blueberry pancakes I've ever had in my life! Thank you again for a wonderful stay! We will most definitely be back! Highly recommend! Great location- walking distance to so many cute shops & restaurants!

The Inn is conveniently walkable to both…read moredowntown (10 min), the beach (10 min) and the Ogunquit Playhouse (7 min) where we had tickets to see a show as well as Jonathan's restaurant (5 min). The Inn was clean and the staff was really fantastic. Shawna at the front desk was welcoming, knowledgable, gracious and attentive. We did not take advantage of the pools (there's an ocean!!) or the continental breakfast. The property has an adequate gym with some cardio equipment and basic "nautilus" equipment: Preacher curl, lat pull down, chest pull, leg press and one other machine and a bench that inclines as well as a rack of dumbbells. I wouldn't call it a "gym" rather a workout room. There is a laundry room as well. There was ample parking. Hat's off to Brittany who did the swan towel art left in our room. It was a nice touch with a sign that said "Happy birthday" on it. We also requested the "Birthday package" that included a cake and Prosecco. The Inn isn't cheap. We paid $400+ a night. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Hot water was plentiful and the shower was adequate. However, the compressor in the air conditioner was loud and kept waking us up every time it would come on through the night and it was much too hot outside to turn it off. It would also help if the curtains didn't billow out when the AC was on. We placed a rolled up towel on top of the AC to keep the curtains from billowing. Once we did that, the humidity in the room disappeared. Bring earplugs and a sleep-aid to knock you out if noise bothers you. For the price we paid, we expected better bath amenities. We've had better at less expensive properties across the country. There is a refrigerator but no microwave. They had the standard hair dryer, iron and ironing board. Not much space to hang a lot of clothes (only 4 hangers) if you're staying a week. Would we stay here again? Not sure, as there are so many other properties to stay at in the area. But the hotel is within walking distance to everything but The Cove. The shops downtown are wonderful and you'll never have a better dinner than at Jonathan's.

She gave us a map of the hotel and surrounding are and highlighted many spots we wanted to see. Jessica at check-in was also helpful. We stayed in the adults only building and appreciated that it was separate and we had our own pool and hot tub - both very nice! Although there should be more tables and chairs around that area. (Only 4 chairs and 4 chaise lounge seats). Breakfast was good and several selections so we could have different items each day. Parking was tight and we had to leave our vehicle in a spot reserved for check-ins overnight 2 out of the 3 nights. We had 1 vehicle for 2 rooms but there still wasn't enough spots. Hotel was in a very good location to walk into Ogunquit, Marginal Way and Perkins Cove. The hotel looks much nicer online than inperson. It needs some sprucing up and cleaning. Hallway Sheetrock walls had many marks and gouges that should be repaired. Elevator walls were covered with fingerprints and needed to be cleaned. The worst part for me was the carpets in the Compass Rose building. They are VERY dirty. The first floor lobby and hallways looked like someone dragged a leaky bag of garbage throughout the area around the corner and down the hallways. The carpet in the hallways upstairs was a little less dirty but had many stains. This is a first impression and should be replaced asap. Paint and carpets are an easy fix to make this hotel more welcoming Manager Jessie was very nice and helpful and listened to my issues.

There are rooms located in separate buildings and rooms located within the main building. The disadvantage in staying in the main building is the limited view from some of the rooms. The major advantage is the following amenities are located here which include the: * Gym * Pool * Ice maker * Vending machines * Business center * Coffee and tea * Microwave * couches and tables in the lobby area Some rooms are a tad more expensive but it comes with 2 sinks and a larger refrigerator. So check before booking. There is no restaurant located in this inn, but there are plenty in walking distance. Some of the rooms have a 6 inch drop when you step down from the threshold of your door.
