Awesome little place with creative, tasty food and a pretty baller drinks menu. Our server was gold and went out of her way to get us a GF menu and vegan-ise dishes for me, including a rhubarb sorbet that the chef had prepared. My husband had the pork belly special which he very much enjoyed and the clams which he loved also. We will definitely be back! read more

People rave about this place, my visit was pretty average. The fried chicken they're known for I found to be very bland. My girlfriend loves this place so I'll probably be back, but it wouldn't be among my choices for restaurants. read more

Lots of unique options and combos. Nice ambiance. Have enjoyed lunch here a few times. Love my seafood and they did not disappoint

Totally enjoyed "Grain" for lunch... A nice addition to "Bayou" , which always is a totally delicious dining experience. Both restaurants are five star, and need to be experienced! OK we're back at the Bayou now it's March... We got a new waitress that that goes by the name of Angela definitely ask for her she is as unbelievable as the food is delicious! She makes the trip over the Bethlehem worthwhile...... And this is as close to a five-star restaurant ever get in New York City! OK it's August and it's really hot out and it's a Monday night... And we stopped by Bayou... Once again we were totally amazed ...the food like usual, was sensational... But tonight I'm going to speak about Niki.... She made our night! She did not stop smiling while taking care of us and made us feel like family... Check her out.... Niki ... Totally rocked it tonight! Bayou on a Saturday Night... packed with smiling faces... Greeted by two young ladies who are both professional and stylish. As usual the food was amazing and incredible and absolutely delicious. But once again, we have to speak about Natasha... we've already had some absolutely phenomenal young ladies wait on us, which in our opinion makes Bayou five star plus! Natasha, like her sister and her mama(Who also works there and rock the house), makes you feel like part of the family... Which for some reason, seems to be the norm hear that Bayou! She is warm and friendly and very knowledgeable... Offering suggestions that made the night such a success... I don't even need to talk about the food, even though, like usual totally wowed us... even if you don't eat One of the incredible desserts you'll leave totally satisfied, because Natasha is the sweetest read more

The Bayou is a fantastic place to take your SO or go out for a drink with the bro's. Bar is well organized with tons of drink options -you'll be good to go. Food wise, it's pretty amazing. Food comes in small or large plates which is cool. The mac n' cheese was outta control, so so good. I had a burger too which was really juicy and delicious. The shrimp was on point as well. The vibe of this place is a nice refresher for the area. Definitely would go back. read more

This place is so fantastic! So unique to the area. Well-crafted quality cocktails. I highly recommend the Sazarac and the Apple Barrell (a deadly and delicious combination of Apple pie moonshine, Goldschläger, cider, and ginger ale). I dined there along with 3 friends and we ordered a plethora of food to share and it did not disappoint! We feasted on: -Flash fried black-eyed peas (These were so addicting! Perfect bar snack for munching while tossing back a few beers or cocktails) -Jalepeño grits w/ aged cheddar (Perfect balance of savory and spicy) -Collard greens (Best I've ever had) -Gumbo w/ shrimp and Andouille sausage (Pleasantly light and spicy! Packed with flavor) -Fried Chicken sandwich (The house made pimento cheese is TO DIE FOR! The buttermilk battered chicken is something I've dreamt about ever since) Having spent many years in the service industry myself, I appreciated the warm yet professional service that the staff provided. The owner was also made time to chat with us and make us feel welcome. All in all, this place is the bomb! I'll definitely be back soon. read more

I came here a few days ago and I absolutely loved it. The restaurant itself was cozy and the service was great. The duck po' and Nashville Mac and cheese is a must. read more

I like it here. Best fried chicken I've had up north other than philly's foghorn. Jalapeño margaritas are a yes! The cocktails are Good. Bloody Mary's just ok. Great sides. Mac n chz thing is killer. Been here plenty it's good rep of southern food some I think. My hubby disagrees but I think so! Get the chic & waffles mmmm read more

A hidden gem. Can't wait for my next visit. The gumbo and cornbread are special. Since im not local from now on i will get an order to go as well. Service was very attentive and friendly. Thank you! read more

Their Nashville hot chicken is not what you think. It's basically fried chicken with some sort of normal hot sauce similar to Frank's poured on top. I guess the owners of this place have never had NHC before. It wasn't terrible, but it definitely is not NHC. The rest of the food was okay but I've eaten at much better places. read more

We had reservations for six at 6:30. I definitely recommend reservations as this establishment is a bit crowded. We were seated at 6:45, which was fine. We waited at least 10 minutes to get our drink orders taken and by then we already had our meal orders as well. The waitress brought us our drinks and that was the last time we saw her. She didn't even bring our food... The only time she could manage to do her job was to bring the check... The food was good, not great. The gumbo was good, oxtails were exactly how you want them to be, but nothing special. My family also seemed to like their food, but no one said it was remarkable or excellent... Just good. My husband ordered a beer and it came out completely flat. He let a server know and she said she would get another... It never happened. The completely filled flat beer just sat at our table. In fact we all sat there with dirty plates and empty drinks until we finally flagged our waitress down to get the check. We didn't even want to stay for dessert. Of course, when the check came the waitress was so apologetic and had excuses as to why the service was horrendous. Got to appreciate that... The manager and other servers all walked around while we had no drinks and dirty plates in front of us. Overall, this is a neat restaurant with good food. The service was absolutely terrible and I wouldn't go back or recommend it. read more

We ate here over the weekend OMG amazing food and the service was just as awesome. My husband had the voodoo punch could have drank them all day, I had the whisky crush just as good. We tried alot of food on the menu, so much we had to bring our sandwiches home. Mary our server was very helpful and her recommendation were on point. We will surely be back again. read more

The food and drinks here are great but the service is definitely lacking. We made a reservation and waited at the host desk for someone to show up... She must have been busy helping out. We got an awkward greeting and then they fumbled around to find our reservation. Then we had to wait to get sat but there is no waiting area... We awkwardly stood there and seemed to be in everyone's way. When we got sat 30 min later, it was in the bar and a group of college guys were crowding by our table and were bumping into our stuff. They were standing by the bar hovering and staring at us and it was pretty uncomfortable. Our server was also not the best. Forgot some drinks and disappeared for awhile. If the place is busy that's fine, but I still expect the staff to be pleasant. They weren't. I haven't been back and haven't recommended it to any friends. It's OK. If there is nowhere else to go then it will do, but luckily there are plenty of other upscale casual restaurants to dine at. read more

First time here and will return! Had Brussels sprouts and cauliflower apps. Shared one of each between 4 of us. Both were fresh and tasty. Nice beer selection and my wife had a voodoo drink she enjoyed. Her hanger steak was nicely cooked with crisp and fresh green beans. My ox tail was nice and the corn was delicious. The beignets were delicious. I don't normally like pastries but these were hot, fresh, and very good. Definitely a desert to share with others. 3-4 people if you each want a small portion. We'll return and I'm anxious to try the fried chicken I've read about, the grits, or the mac and cheese... +++ returned one month after first visit and brought a larger group! Had the fried chicken this time and the positive reviews are true! Large portion (4 pcs) and delicious. Fries were tasty and cooked perfectly. read more

This is a perfect day drinking spot! It's out of the way, so away from the busy traffic. It was a great crowd with perfect Saturday afternoon food and drink menus. My sister die thought she was ordering extra ribs to take home. But they were exactly the way she like them, dry and plentiful! Of course we're all grown up ow so we rave of the Brussels sprouts. But um yeah. Next time we come we need to plan a stay or a long Uber ride. Much better than going to the places near the casino or in Center City Bethlehem. read more

Ordered takeout, arrived and food wasn't ready they said I could wait in car and they would bring it me. Food was still hot when I got it home. Hush puppies were delicious, we shared the brisket Mac and cheese (easily could feed 2 maybe even 3 people. It was amazing. Also had the chicken and waffles, now the waffle is nothing special but the fried chicken was by far the best I've had! read more

Well I wish I could give this no stars... totally disappointed in their service. What is the purpose of having a reservation when it's 20 minutes past that time and the host so rudely tells us that there are two more tables waiting to be seated in front of us. I truly expected more from a restaurant with such high ratings. The food is good but it's not worth the poor customer service and rude staff. read more

A great example of what a restaurant is supposed to be. Great food, a great bar and vibe throughout. We had brisket po boy, shrimp and grits, fried oysters, oxtails and THE most amazing mac n cheese ever! Great beer selection, nice courtyard also. read more

I really love this place! Whenever I am in the area I always make sure to stop here for a drink and some food. The drinks- simple and delicious. The food- YUM. I have yet to order something that misses the mark. In fact, every dish I try is better than the last. Bethlehem doesn't have many semi-casual dining choices, and this place really hits the nail on the head. I would describe it as a BBQ joint meets gastropub. Trust me, if you are a fan of great food and drink in a warm and comfortable setting, you will love this place too! read more

This place was absolutely adorable, but the food was just OK. I ordered the ribs, mac and cheese, collard greens, and brussel sprouts. The ribs were a little dry and difficult to eat (plate was too small so you felt crowded trying to eat them. Collard greens were ok, but nothing to write home about. The mac and cheese, however, was DELICIOUS. Definitely worth trying! The menu sounds fantastic though so I would love to come back and try more items on the menu. I do love me some good comfort food, it just didn't have that full craveable flavor/experience you get from BBQ/southern joints even in Chicago. read more

Trying to eat different foods and at different places while I'm in town. Found the Bayou on yelp. Parking was easy. I walked in and since I was by myself they sat me at the bar. I could not choose what to eat. I finally chose the cornbread and jambalaya. What a great choice. Cornbread was sweet and jambalaya had a good deal of Spice. Very happy with this choice. read more

I am originally from Georgia so I know good southern food. I have been in the Lehigh Valley for 15 years now and I must say hands down this place is authentic and amazing....it is a very CLOSE 2nd to my place in Atlanta (Mary Mac's). We were a party of 9 so we ordered a lot of items from the menu and shared everything. I specifically had the shrimp and grits (my all time fave) and it was AMAZING!!! I also had the jalapeno margargita and it was pleasantly surprising and good. I highly recommend. Being a bartender and server myself, I have got to say the service was stellar as was the attention from all the other staff (food runners to managers). The place is surprisingly VERY small so I would highly recommend reservations on the weekend. We were there on a Tuesday night so it wasn't too busy but I can only imagine the crowd on the weekend. There is a ton of parking across the street but no where, other than the small bar area, to wait if they do go on a wait. We sat inside but they have a beautiful patio out back. I would like to see how they utilize this space during the winter (if at all) since it is pretty small inside. Totally a 5 star place and a must visit in Bethlehem. read more

Ok I've been hearing great reviews about this place so I decided to try it out. It was sub par at best. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and it was greasy and very plain. Didn't care for it at all. Service was also slow. read more

Fabulous Mac & cheese! The blue crab Binet outstanding. Nice wait staff & we could walk!

Awesome food and great staff make this a must eat place! The staff is so professional with a great sense of humor, style and grace just like the south. Just the right amount of attentiveness without hovering over us! The food was excellent especially the collard greens, Brussel sprouts and mac and cheese. The fried chicken is stellar as well! The sweet tea is great...not traditional southern sweet tea...they use a spice tea lolike earl grey or something similar...but it's awesome!! Five stars for sure!!! read more

My wife and I have been to The Bayou a few times and it's always good. Recently we ordered delivery because of not wanting to go out due to our newborn. I was interested to see how their takeout/delivery stacked up when compared to the in restaurant experience. I can say we were very pleased. We had the brisket po boy, mac and cheese, chicken sandwich, and of course their fries! All of it was very good! Generous portions, great flavors, and good attention to detail (browning the buns before putting the sandwich together...it's the little things). Very impressed and glad to see the quality of the food was as good out of restaurant as it is in. read more

I had to leave the bayou after waiting an hour. My friend and I were sat and then waited for 30 min for someone to come help us. We had to ask a random worker questions about lactose free options and for a drink menu. Half an hour later no water, drink menu, or answers. There was nothing on the menu for me to eat and eventually we just got up and left (doubt they even noticed since no one cared to help us.) It's 2019. Have some allergy friendly options. read more

Anytime I want to feel like I'm down in NOLA, I just come here. It is immensely clean and so accommodating! Staff is so quick to please and help in any and every aspect! Their fried chicken with sweet potato mash is so good! Not too greasy either! Had to end the meal with some beignets. I wore black too and I didn't even care. Also, the staff were so accommodating to my friend who utilizes her wheelchair to get around! Asked if she needed help and what kind of table she preferred. Without hesitation, they pulled a chair out for her and made sure she was comfortable! Absolutely 10/10. Wish I could have given more! read more

I went yesterday (party of 2) for their 1 year anniversary celebratory Jazz Brunch. I arrived about 15 minutes before my reservation time and was immediately seated. The server, Mary, was exceptionally nice. So sweet and very helpful making recommendations on the menu when asked. You can tell she really has a passion for the restaurant. The Jazz was fantastic and fun! We started with 2 drinks, which I thought took long to come (about 15 minutes) We also started with the Hush Puppies. They were really dry, I definitely wouldn't get them again. And the Mac & Cheese, which was so decadent! My mom got the Brisket Benedict, which was tasty, but the hollendaise was a little gummy so we were thinking it was left under a heater lamp for a while. I got the brisket po-boy. After eating so many po-boys in New Orleans through the years I was sorely disappointed. It had a good flavor, but was certainly no Nawlins po-boy. As we're sitting there eating we were saying we need another trip to The Big Easy soon! The food also took a long time to come out, in fact, by the time it came out we barely ate any and boxed the rest up. I doubt I'll be back, but that's only because I was hoping for New Orleans style Creole food and even though I know it says it is only "southern inspired" I was still praying it would take me away to New Orleans. I, personally, did not feel that was the case. read more

I've been here a hand full of times now, but this will be my first review. Went with my sisters and they inspired me to Yelp it. The place is awesome with a cool southern vibe and decor. We were seated right away which was a delight for a Friday night. Apps - Ty's Mac n Cheese is awesome, favorite thing I've had there. The hush puppies were pretty bland and on the drier side. Could have used something to moisten them up aside from the olive oil it comes with. Small plate pork ribs were very tasty and definitely worth getting. Entrees - I had the fried chicken. It was very tasty and authentic. It did not come with anything to dip it in so I got the house made BBQ on the side. It was a bit greasy, but it was fried chicken so it's what you sign up for. The BBQ is unique, a bit too sweet for my sisters tastes but I was fine with it although not my ideal BBQ sauce. My sisters both got the Bayou Burger. The burger had a good beef flavor but the pork did not add much flavor, nor did the single piece of bacon. Their assessment was that they wish the BBQ had more of a tang to it, rather than the sweetness that it had. Overall, I'll definitely be back to try other items. I like the place and the vibe. Don't think anything (we had) will blow your socks off, but we got the beignets to go, so we have yet to try them. The Bayou experience is a solid meal and a cool place, definitely worth checking out. read more

Just visited this past Saturday. We made reservations for lunch, even thought it was for three o clock and I'm glad we did because this place was packed shortly after we arrived! It was our first time visiting so we wanted to try a nice variety. So, for appetizers we tried the hush puppies, the Brussels sprouts, the red beans and rice, and the bulgar. Everything was awesome! The red beans and rice had quite a bit of heat, but the bulgar was pickled and fresh so it cleansed the pallet nicely. The hush puppies were delicious as were the sprouts. For the entrees, three of us tried the brisket po boy, which was very good. I wish the bread was a little better, though. It was too soft and kind of underwhelming. The other person tries the fried chicken sandwich, but she thought it was a bit too spicy for her taste. Nevertheless she enjoyed it. All four sandwiches came with hand cut French fries and they were fantastic! The oil must have been fresh because you couldn't taste that old fryer oil flavor at all. Very good! For dessert, we ordered the peanut butter mousse which was very decadent, the beignets, which were delicious, and my fried ordered little bit of the coconut ice cream and she enjoyed that as well. I also ordered the smoke pork ribs to take home for my boyfriend, which he LOVED. And that's saying a lot, because he adores food and doesn't give out compliments loosely. All in all, we enjoyed everything and will be returning to try the rest!! read more

Came here on a busy night and had exceptional service. Ordered the cornbread, beignets, and for my entree I had Jambalaya. Bayou is one of the restaurants that gets Southern Cajun cuisine almost perfect and adds a bit of flare. I thought the food was seasoned perfectly and everything came out piping hot and steaming. Good selection of drinks and lively atmosphere. Expensive, but not outrageous. Would definitely recommend if you like spicy southern style comfort foods. read more
