A fantastic dining experience at The Bauer Kitchen in Waterloo! From start to finish, everything was spot on with service. The beef tartare was beautifully prepared--fresh, flavorful, and perfectly paired with grilled bread and mustard seed for that extra kick. The huevos rancheros-style dish was a highlight, stacked with tender pulled chicken, crispy tortillas, beans, and topped with a perfectly runny egg. Comfort food with a gourmet twist! Even the little touches, like the branded coffee cup covers, made the experience feel thoughtful and unique. A spot that nails both presentation and flavor. Definitely one of Waterloo's gems. Highly recommend for brunch, lunch, or dinner. The atmosphere is modern rustic.

Delicious food! The home of the only pasta dish I've enjoyed eating in the last few years (yes, I am not a big pasta fan). The menu is extensive and there is something for everyone. I ended up getting The Mercer pizza ($22.95) for myself, which tasted great but was probably better off shared since it was way too big for me. My coworkers both got a pasta, and the one I am referring to above is the Tiger Shrimp Spaghettini ($26.95) - SO AMAZING! We also tried three desserts, and my favourite was by far the carrot cake. I basically inhaled the whole thing myself. The service was a bit hot and cold - certain parts of it were off the charts accommodating, while at other times it was difficult to get anyone to look our way. We were in a bit of a rush because we were commuting back to Toronto that night and didn't want to leave too late. But on the other hand, when my coworker asked about whether the Spaghettini was meant to be spicy (she added spicy sausage which resulted in this), the waitress graciously made her a half portion to take home that had no spice. We really appreciated that. Overall, it was super busy on a Thursday night so I think that speaks for the quality of the TBK. I will be back!

Had a nice dinner here. Everything we ordered tasted good. The tables were spacious, plenty of large and small tables. Service was also good.

Nice ambiance, good service, and pretty good food. The spinach and artichoke dip was great - not given enough to dip with though. Steak tartar was tasty and not bad for the price. They have a good selection of food to try so I would recommend trying this place out.

Came here for lunch on Sunday and had a great meal. Caesar salad with chicken was really good, very flavorful and nice portions. Eggs Benedict was fantastic. Dessert plate with four different options was a real treat as well. Service was great too.

When my friend and I first entered, the ambiance was nice and we got seated quickly even without a reservation. We started off with the cheese and spinach dip which was pretty good and I would order it again. The mains are lacklustre and not worth the money. We both got burgers, (Bauer and Blue Cheese burger) and the bun got soggy too fast and was severely underwhelming. Lastly, the winter mojitos might've been the best thing we got. Overall, there are better options for the price point.

I've been living in Kitchener for years now and have always heard good things about Bauer Kitchen. I decided to try their brunch today, and now I'm so sorry I didn't eat here sooner! The restaurant is a really beautiful space near Vincenzo's grocery store. Parking is free just FYI. It was a very warm Saturday, and the patio was almost full. The bright yellow umbrellas offered shade from the sun. I'm not an outdoor eater...don't enjoy heat or bugs, but if you like that kind of thing, their patio is a wonderful spot. The inside has dark tones to the decor and if I had to give it a name it was industrial chic. They used rebar (I think that is what it's called) as decor and there were gold tones to offset the dark furniture and black beams in the ceiling. The space is beautiful and clean and has a luxurious feel without being too stuffy. Thankfully, the country music playing was switched to some more upbeat tunes (which I know is personal preference). The hostesses were very polite and professional. I was seated right away (but got the standard question of do you want to sit at the bar since you're dining alone. I wish that would change. No, I want a table like anyone else and my RA usually makes the bar seating extremely uncomfortable. I just wish I wouldn't get asked that EVERY time I go out to eat). Anyone who reads my reviews knows I'm gluten free due to the RA. Bauer Kitchen has an amazing selection for GF diners. I hate to go out and be limited to meat and salad. You can get eggs benedict even. The GF choices are clearly marked on the menu, another thing I love because you don't have to guess whether the dish might contain gluten. They also have feature mimosas on the weekend for brunch. I ordered one that had their house rose and lemon. It was really good. Jenna was my server. She was so friendly and asked a few questions about what I was doing that day and held a bit of friendly conversation. Those are the best servers; they don't just go through the motions but try to get to know their customers for those few moments during your dining experience. She even double-checked on the GF aspects of the dish to make sure it worked for me. I ordered the Huevos rancheros bowl. Delicious. It had just the right amount of heat, the beans and chicken were so flavourful and the texture of the dish was perfect with the deep fried tortilla and the avocado was delicious! Sunny side egg on top was cooked perfectly too. Jenna even offered some fresh ground pepper. She was perfect. Knew just the right times to visit the table and take care of everything. The only thing that would make this dish more perfect would be a bit of lime crema to cool that heat a touch. But it was incredible the way it was served and a dish I definitely want to return to order again. If you want to treat yourself on the weekend to a brunch with top quality ingredients and dietary offerings for everyone, I encourage you to visit Bauer Kitchen. Now, I just want to go back for dinner one evening!

Definitely glad we made a reservation on a Saturday night. Our drinks were fantastic and the food was incredible. Our server, Kathleen, was friendly, efficient and was the right amount of attentive throughout the night. The Sweet Board was a great way to sample so many of their wonderful desserts. We will be back for sure. Its proximity to the Allen Ion stop is a total plus!

First time visit here and it was with a large group so got seated in a private section. The waitress was very attentive and quick to help ensure we all had drinks at the ready and very knowledgeable and encouraging about the food selections. I decided on a Cali Chicken Sandwich which was perfectly done and quite tasty. The fries were too salty but I loved the light BBQ sauce I used to dip them in :). I had a local Pilsner to drink which I found a little light but good for quenching my thirst :)

the food is pretty good, especially the burger and pizza. the gnocchi however, is extremely salty and felt inedible as well as the fries. we were taken care of well, but service is super slow on a busy friday night. our food took about 40 minutes to arrive and we've been sitting for over 2 hours. it's really loud and hard to talk at the table. we did get compensated with free dessert for the gnocchi, but would not get that again. overall, expensive and not outstanding

Huevos Rancheros ~ Don't get this! (currently taken off the menu at this time)

H U E V O S R A N C H E R O S do NOT get this dish from The Bauer Kitchen as you may experience the following: X The egg they cooked for me may as well have been made out of rubber X The wait for the food much longer than what they had originally quoted me Although luckily for you, the Huevos Rancheros is no longer on their menu, I highly recommend you look elsewhere to try it! I have heard many good things about their food so I will write this one dish off as probably just being one that they don't specialize in. I am still sad that my only meal in this area was one that ended in this way though.... - Plant-based and gluten-free options available! - Offers cafe items too If I'm ever in the area again, I am definitely open to coming back...but I think I'll have to get specific recommendations from my friends that live around here before ordering next time!

Great place for lunch in Waterloo and we were able to get a table without reservations. The restaurant is very spacious and servers are very attentive. We were in a rush and our server accomodated us by having the kitchen prepare our food quickly so we would have enough time to enjoy our meal. There is parking underground and the elevator takes you to the front of the restaurant.
