I love coming here for their Tuesday wings special. As long as you order any drink (unlimited refill soft drink is eligible), you can order wings for $0.59 each. They offer flavours such as medium, mild, honey garlic, chili, cajun, and parmesan and pepper (my favourite!). You must order 10 wings per batch though, and also no takeouts on the wings specials. Even though the wings are on the smaller size, but for me, 10 wings with the drink is enough for dinner. It's only around $10, great for the student budget. I've yet to try other mains so I can't comment on how good those are. However, given the small the portion size, their desserts definitely aren't worth getting. Just head over to the Dairy Queen across the street or something, you can get better bang for your buck elsewhere. Also...the quality of service you'll be getting varies. Sometimes I do find that the waiter pay less attention to us when we would only order $10 of food per person during the Tuesday special times. read more

The bathroom was a bit of a mess. The toilet paper holder was off the wall, the toilets were not clean, the soap dispenser is far from the sink, and the paper towel machine was not working. However, our waiter did an excellent job!! It was very busy because of the raptors game and he still managed to get everything with no errors. Used to come here all the time for their half priced apps because it was the only thing worth coming for but they've since changed it so that if you can't finish your app it's full price for you to take it home. Umm ok we got our three drinks (and btw a massive schooner only counts as one lol) and ordered three apps between the two of us in anticipation of bringing home leftovers but we're told we'd have to pay full price for it, meanwhile struggling to get the last pint down because we were so full. Ok. Throw out the food then. Paying half price and won't be coming back, thanks. Also get some rails for the booths on the bar side. I know they're a chain but it's seriously gone a bit downhill. This location looks pretty nice. They're well lit, have nice seats and TVs everywhere to watch the game. Used to come here regularly for their half priced apps. Their menu has removed some of the more unique appetizer options since, and their Crabby Combo consists of less variety than it used to. Drinks are reasonably priced. $6.99 for almost any cocktail is pretty good. However, they no longer serve sangria in pitchers but only in glasses, which feels like a missed opportunity for them. On top of that, they used to have a lot more variety in drink options (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), which are also no longer there. I will start off by saying this is by far one of the most slowest services I have had at any crabby Joe's in Ontario. I waited over an hour for my food!! This can be understandable when it is busy. The part that upsets me is we sat with empty drinks for several minutes through out our wait. The noodles do not taste like they were fully cooked and the portions were significantly smaller than when we dine in. I came for a beer and was charged more than I was needed. The manager said wait a couple days for the debt transaction to drop off. Also mentioned this has happened multiple times. I'm no longer doing business nor will I go to this establishment again. Visited 16th February. Wanted a burger and fries...I ordered the dbl cheddar burger with fries to go. As soon as I get home I look at the fries and there are probably 8 sticks of fries. Tasted terrible..4 were burned. Are you serious? The burger was even worse. Buns were rock hard, only a single slice of cheese when I ordered dbl cheddar and the patty was hard to chew through. I came here last Thursday around 10 PM for a late dinner. The waitress was super friendly and even told us about the special of half-price apps past 9 PM when you order a drink. This special wasn't on the menu. We ordered the calamari appetizer with a hot chocolate drink as well as two main dishes. The place wasn't super full so the noise level was decent. The food came out on time and tasted good for the price that they offered. I had the Piri Piri Chicken Wrap and my friend had the Mozza Burger. We waited at the hostess area for at least 5 minutes, occasionally poking our head around the wall hoping to catch the attention of any employee, to give a polite heads up that someone was waiting. Eventually we just went and sat ourselves, menus and all. We waited another 5 minutes or so.....were patient, understanding that waitresses must be very busy but no one came to even greet us. Appreciating that our bold move to seat ourselves may have left them unaware, we turned our attention to a gentleman who appeared to be the manager to try and catch his attention. He seemed to be more interested in the Leafs game, leaning up against a counter drinking pop. Several tables were left dirty for the duration of our brief visit, along with other random people going from being seated watching the game, into the kitchen and back again. None looking like they were employees, rather friends of friends who by association were given carte Blanche to enter the kitchen and serve themselves, only to return to their tables. Poor, rather non-existent service makes me think I won't be returning anytime soon! And....off to The Keg we go! read more

My wife and I arrived in KW late this evening and decided to head out and grab some supper. Upon seeing Crabby Joe's she suggested we try it knowing I had eaten at the chain before and enjoyed it. Upon arriving it was a nice and clean environment if not a little loud, but the Jays were playing so that's pretty typical and to be expected. Everything was fine until I noticed from my vantage point, which looked into the kitchen, the cook bite his finger nail and spit it out. Our server arrived immediately after and asked if we were ready to order. I explained that we were not and as a result of what I had just witnessed would not be dining there tonight. I have not had such a horrible dinner out in a long time if ever. So many things were horribly presented and not dealt with properly at all. First off everything including taking mine and my husband's drink order/food order took over half hour and that's not exaggerating! It was kind of busy so I didn't really think much of that. We got our drinks, they also took so long and when my husband got his (warm) beer he took a sip and literally cut his lip on the big chip on the glass. We told the server and he brought a new beer, once again being understanding we didn't think about it again. It was when our apps came (nachos and dip with pita) the pita had a hair literally almost baked into it, how does that even happen? So the waiter took this away without saying anything and brought us another one in literally two seconds (which was weird because the first one took over an hour) we were told that it was another tables and they could wait. That's when I couldn't keep my mouth shut anymore, I politely told the server that we didn't want to stay any longer and wanted the bill. This is the kicker, not that I go anywheres thinking I deserve anything for free but we got charged for everything and like things we couldn't eat considering the hair and the beer with the chip and only two sips out of it. I had to explain why I thought this was ridiculous, in the end our bill went from around $40 to $34 ... This being said, I will NEVER go back to this place again and will make sure no one I know does either because yes, mistakes happen but it's the way they're handled and the way we are treated. The deals are good -- some of the $5 martinis on Fridays are alright, paired with half-price appetizers (that I usually end up sharing) after nine, it's a really cheap alternative to other places in Waterloo. Service is sometimes a little slow, but I've never had a huge issue with it. Once I went with two other people; one of my friends left early and paid for her bill, but when the second bill came for me and the other person, it still had her items on it. I didn't realize until after I'd paid (by credit card) and the server didn't know how to fix it, so she just refunded me cash. All in all I'd definitely go again, because it's cheap and quiet enough to hear the people around you and I'm a sucker for their loaded cheese fries (and the crayons...). My family went out Saturday night for dinner, not realizing that 5:30pm would be such a busy time! All the restaurants we called had a 1 - 1.5 hour wait, except for Crabby Joe's. They had open tables and could seat immediately, so that's where we headed. We had our kids and my parents with us, for a total of 6 people. We were seated right away, now about 6:10pm. We were given menus and a booster seat for our younger daughter. No kids menus, crayons, etc. I tried to get the attention of the occasionally passing waitresses to try to get menus for the kids, or drinks for us, but I was ignored by three separate waitresses. After ... twenty minutes or so, my father finally managed to flag down a waitress by calling out rather loudly, waving, and nearly standing up. She took our drink orders and left to get the kids menus. Eventually, we received the kids menus and our drinks and ordered the kids' food. We usually do this as the kids have less patience on empty stomachs! It took at nearly another half an hour to flag the waitress down to give our orders. By 7:30, none of us had received food, nor had any of the waitresses returned to ask about drink refills or anything else. We again managed to flag down a waitress, who apologized about the wait for food, offered some sort of discount (unspecified at that time), said she would check on our food, and said it was because they were so busy. There were several tables that were empty, a table next to us had been filled and emptied twice in the time we had been there, and the waitresses ... honestly, they didn't seem to care much. They didn't seem to be in a hurry to do anything, they didn't seem concerned with how their tables were doing, they just chatted at the back, and walked to the front, then the back, every so often. The kids were really well behaved, thankfully, but it was very frustrating. Eventually our food came out - including the kids dishes, though I'm not sure how a grilled cheese sandwich with processed cheese takes an hour to cook - and everyone was relatively satisfied with their choices, but unfortunately my dish - penne rustica with chicken - was inedible. The chicken looked fine, but tasted like ashes and unfortunately the flavor carried throughout the dish. When we flagged her down to ask her to bring the check I mentioned my meal's issues to the waitress, and she apologized but that was all. In total we spent probably two hours there, two of us got a single refill, and had minimal positive interaction with our waitress, and almost no un-solicited interactions (we had to get their attention every time), and the bill was over $100. I'm not one to complain about a dish at a restaurant unless it is truly bad, but the few times I have complained I've had offers to replace the dish, to get a new and different dish, and/or to have the meal's charge removed from the bill. We didn't even get that. This was one of the most disappointing, frustrating, stressful restaurant experiences I've had, and that's saying something! I most certainly will not be returning to this restaurant, likely won't go to another Crabby Joe's (this was our first experience), and would highly suggest anyone looking for food NOT go to this restaurant. However, if you want to watch TV while slowly sipping your drink (goodness gracious if you need a refill!), this place probably fits the bill. read more

We waited about 15 minutes for our waitress Renee to even come and say hello and get our drink order. Then the waitress finally came over and we ordered our drinks and food at the same time and we sat there for about a half hour wondering where our food was when we realized the cup my brother was drinking out of had lipstick all around the edge. finally the waitress Renee comes over and tells us there was a glitch in the system and our order hasn't gone in but she has fast tracked it seeing as we have waited so long. We wait about another 25 minutes and finally we got 2 out of 4 dishes. The 2 other dishes come out 5 minutes later and one of them is wrong. So we told them what we had ordered and waited another 10 minutes to get that dish. As my brother gets halfway through his quesadilla he finds a hair in his food. I can't even believe this happened. I will not be coming back to this location again. After getting the bill and asking to speak to a manager, all they did to right all of these wrongs was take a $6.00 off the bill and not even send the manager out. After yelling at our waitress and it wasn't her fault. He kept trying to kick us out before we received our meals. We stayed and then he kept coming back trying to get us to leave. Being that this is literally across the street, we have frequented this place on a regular basis since the day they opened. It started off okay, but now the service sucks. If they actually remember the bring the correct order the food is sub par at best. I believe they hire on a need to fill a quick spot basis, and training, accuracy, and customer service is not in the forefront of their minds. Last night on our 7th anniversary, we decided to head over just for a quick shot for old times sake. The bartender told us last call had been called and when we asked why as it was 20 to, she went ahead and retracted that. It would have been reasonable if it weren't for the fact that a table beside us has a full pitcher of beer and the other table had about 6 people who had full pints. The owner a white haired Habs fan,was more concerned with us having a quick shot and the time it would take to make them than being consistent and making money. Having managed Restaraunt, if you arent consistent, then you may as well close up shop. I guarantee that if it were a fight night last call would not have been called. After coming over the course of 5 years and supporting this business despite the decline, we won't be coming back, convenient or not. If you come here expect Wings to be delivered with out extra napkins, expect to watch your server chat with the bartender with your drinks in hand while you wait so they can finish social hour. Expect a children's menu, but they have quit ordering children's cups, and as every parent knows if you go to a "kid friendly Restaraunt" and your kids are 5 and under kids cups are a must. Expect a ridiculous wait despite there being only 4 tables. Expect in experienced servers who are sometimes downright rude (Unless you are a bro with a six pack. Oh and the white haired guy with the grimace in the corner who looks like he's stink eyeing you, that the owner and yes he wants you to leave if it's past 1am so he can do what ever is more impending than making money with his business. read more
