We were coming up on our second night of running through the night. Learning that Love's had SHOWERS was like finding an oasis in the desert! Well, that's what Love's is right? My group arrived at Love's around 2am. I was the last runner and eager to rinse off all the grime from the last 40 hours. We were greeted with such friendly service. Even though there was a wait for the showers at 2am, the attendants were really friendly and curious why a bunch of women in running clothes were wanting to shower in the middle of the night. We nearly blew their mind when we told them we had run there from San Francisco. The showers were really clean and so were the towels. The whole process was really simple and everyone was able to get their showers in before we continued on. Love's also had a great selection of souvenirs and snacks. I'll probably never be in this situation ever again but Love's was probably my favorite thing from that day! Many thanks to Love's for existing and being our oasis in the night!

I was distraught. Came back through on Wednesday. Stopped in to find my glasses with the sweet young lady at the counter. She was delightful- brown hair, I believe she had glasses. More than ever, I wanted to try the pizza at this location. Previously, I had not been there at an opportune time and this was exactly that. Outside, it says "The Barn" several places. Inside, it looked okay--at first glance. I asked about how fresh the personal pizzas were. The person who came from the back seemed irritated and said that she'd just replaced what was missing. There was one of each type. I got The Works--what you'd called Deluxe or Supreme elsewhere. The person behind the other register rang that and I asked to pay for a drink, but I had not filled a cup yet. He wasn't friendly but also not unfriendly. I went to set the pizza somewhere around the dining area. I don't believe that there was a clean table or counter. Had it been cleaned in a week? I don't know. I had the notion that the employees or their families messed it up and left it that way, so no one else would use it. I wouldn't use it twice. The pizza was as good as I would have expected in the midwest, near Noble Romans' headquarters, and the Mountain Dew was good. I don't think I'd ever stop again. There are plenty of places to eat in the town, as well as Love's Travel Stops at the next exit, which is where I usually stop when I'm in a hurry.

Valley Blvd and South Street is not the cheapest…read moregas available in the Tehachapi area by a long shot, but it does have a car wash, a well stocked convenience store, and clean bathrooms so I'm still a fan of at least the other aspects of the business. So sue me, I mainly pay with cash and prefer to pay less for my gas, but many of my friends shop at Chevron because they can use their Chevron gas credit cards to buy gas and stretch their already tight budget at the end of the month and who can blame them for that.
