On this Thanksgiving morning I am thankful for the Flying J in Tehachapi! We stop both ways on our drive whether we need to or not (usually don't need to). Best gas station that I've ever been to, it feels like stopping in with family while we are on our journey. When we are traveling with others we can't wait to introduce them to "our" gas station. The pizza is amazing! The snack/beverage selection is on point. The minute we walk in the door we are greeted by all of the smiling employees, that offer to help with whatever we need. Cherry on top? This Flying J would be a really nice travel stop if you don't stay and eat at Wendy's, Cinabon or their food bar with pizza etc. or use their bathroom, because it's alway too cold inside and the muisc is painful to have to listen to, especially in the bathroom. They have the music on a station that has, for a lack of a better description, loud screaming and yelling in every single song - every song is Hip Hop, R & B and Soul. I've never heard a muisc station that had the theme of songs with this loud screaming and yelling in every single song, but clearly it does exist. If you use their fully tiled bathroom the music will run you out of there - horrible on your ears. Back to this travel stop being kept too cold inside if you do plan on eating here, I hope you have a coat in your car, because you will be needing it to eat here. Clean facility, although it's still pretty new. Women's restroom was clean and well stocked. There is a variety of food and beverage choices from fountain and coolers. Their food bar offers a decent breakfast. My husband and I shared a sausage breakfast platter ($8) and biscuits and gravy ($6) and it was totally adequate for us. I appreciate Flying Js with RV gas lanes. It just makes things much easier. You don't have to worry about clearance. This was one of the stops that I just didn't have much time to go in their store. Everyone knows I love Flying J. My complaint at this location is they ran a $500 charge as "preauthorization" to "pay at the pump". Normally they do $150 (which is excessive), but the $500 charge sent my credit card fraud alert team into overdrive & fits. Simply insane & really not understandable. I was at the car gas pumps, not the Diesel Truck pumps (that purchase 100's of gallons). I had used these exact same pumps in the past - so have to assume they raised the charge at the corporate level. read more

So happy we got a flying j in Tehachapi. This location is clean all the time no matter what time of day. They have a Wendy's, Cinnabon and PJ fresh. I have had it all. If you get the pilot App they have specials everyday to save you money. You also get 3 cents off your gas. And anything helps. Bathrooms are so clean if you are passing through town. Manager Heather is so nice and has helped me a few times. But I haven't come across a rude employee. Oh and the coffee bar is amazing They have every kind of fun stuff to add to your coffee. Flavored creamers, syrups and different sugars. So fun to make up your own concoction. I highly recommend this location read more

They had a good selection of snacks and drinks inside for anyone who is in need of a good road snack. The prices were reasonable too. The bathroom was very clean and in order. So, I find myself driving over this mt range many times through the year. I always set the trip up so that I stop here. The staff is typically friendly even though I have had some less desirable interactions with employees. Majority of the time though they are great. So when you are stopping at a truck stop you are looking for selection in the snacks, clean bathrooms, reasonably priced gas, and of course a good selection of caffeine. This truck stop does not fall short in any of these categories. I should include that I am not a truck driver. Well I'm in a full size pickup but that doesn't count. The coffee they offer here is decent, a few blends to choose from but only dark & medium roast. I've never been to a "proper" truck stop with showers.. didn't even know they existed lol. Any place that freshly grounds over 5 different options of coffee is alright with me! 5 stars (I'd give more if that was an option) for THE CLEANEST restrooms & best stocked gas station store between San Jose and Vegas - for real!! It's my favorite & the only one I actually prefer to stop at, even though it's not as quick access in terms of on/off the 58 - it's 1000% worth the extra stop lights & turns. Driving every weekend for months from San Jose to Vegas then back, I unfortunately have frequented a lot of public restrooms & gas station stores along the way. Majority of the ladies restrooms are nasty AF, and the stores typically have the same limited options making you question how long the consumables have been on the shelves, but this particular station is truly THE CROWN JEWEL. The ladies restrooms are always spotless, fully stocked, & super clean with that just-cleaned/cleaning products smell - that is everything to this germaphobe!! And the store has the most vast variety of options including fresh fruits, salads, fruit cups, parfaits, sandwiches, snacks, make-your-own specialty coffees with a huge selections of flavors, syrups & flavored creamers, slurpees, etc, not to mention a very new & clean Wendy's, the store/food & drink stations are always super clean & fully stocked (at least when I happen to stop in). Plus there's always plenty of staff working too. I don't recall whether the gas prices are good or competitive & honestly don't care that they are because it's worth it just for the clean bathrooms & store offerings. There are several gas pumps with plenty of space between them, & the area is always clean too - another reason this place is my favorite between San Jose & Vegas for restrooms, store & gas. Came back from camping in Idaho and knew we had a flying j here so we waited to dump our RV. By the way...its free everywhere in Idaho and the local states....just donation which we always donate 5.00. Here the brand new Flying J charges 10.00 and we were told we need to come in to pay than they give us a code. Well there's a sign saying out of order on it. Great job Flying J....and obviously the cashier on the phone didn't know because shes the one that told me to come in and pay when I called from the parking lot. 3 star is for the TV fuel area, great little Wendy's and good variety of store merchandise. read more

Dirty. Not one clean table. Bathrooms had toilet paper & seat covers on floor. The garbages were full in women's restroom. The floors needed mopped like a week ago.
