This barber shop is excellent! We usually go to the owner Phong, but everyone here is pretty good. The price is good and we can usually get in and out in less than 1/2 hour. Phong always remembers the cuts that we like and does a great job. I would definitely recommend this place if you have boys that needs a nice, clean haircut. I am a retired Marine and I am now a 8 year barber. Today, October 6th, Noonish while driving by visiting my sister I needed a haircut. What a mistake. This review does not depict the shop nor the other barbers. This review is my experience with this Large non Asian dude. White Perhaps I walked in for the first time, Nothing was said to greet my presence or welcome to the shop, I immediately chose the first barber I think it was the second chair. I said 4 on top longer bangs skin on the sides. This is his first reply. 1/2 " on top 1" in the front "THAT IS HOW WE DO IT HERE" That was the first sign of an under $10 dollar haircut. He proceeded with #4 guard on top the #8 bangs only not tapering out. Continued with sides not sure what he was doing or why he does this way but everyone has your own way. Now, I had to say something..."Dude you are not having a good day" He replied "why you want me to smile...jump...whatever other defensive words he used" You have not said one word to me, you have not asked if I have ever been here, perhaps thanks for stopping by or something. Instead...Combatant Defensive. The haircut with the guards used force down my scalp shit hurts with zero personality and combatant. I replied "I stopped here for the first time, looks like a cool shop lots of police, fire, and military badges. I am a Marine had millions of haircuts so I know a bad haircut. I said I need to take a break, I am uncomfortable you cutting my hair I am done. His attitude continues and badmouth me as I am walking out the door. Now, I have to get someone cut my hair. Second time I got the white guy to cut my hair.. Do not get him! Second time I've had to go elsewhere to fix the travesty of a haircut he gave me. Can't even do a simple fade.. The other barbers are pretty good though. And the owner is nice and also a really good barber. But he allows this substandard barber to work at his shop.I mean it's your job to do a good hair cut, that's why I'm paying you and I tip very well for a great haircut. Being a barber is a profession. As a professional they should do their work with pride. I liked this place because it prides itself on serving the military, police, etc.. Price is now $8, but still the BEST barber shop in the area. I drive from Long Beach to Cypress because the wait is alwasy short, and am happy with the results. One TV in shop mounted on wall, showing sports 24/7, Located in minimall, with Ralphs at far end...plenty of parking. I showed the older, goateed man a picture of what a wanted (a spiky/messy style with a zero taper), and he proceeded to cut my hair like it was no problem. Ended up styling it completely differently than the picture and left my sides unevenly blended. I used to go to Stupid Cuts, mostly because a young lady whose family I know pretty well was working there and she is a terror with a pair of shears, but she moved on to a high-end salon in Irvine, so I was cast adrift. Enter The Barber Pole. Now, if you are expecting people from Poland, I think you will be disappointed, but if you want a quick, efficient haircut to your specifications, you will be fully satisfied. I'm practically ancient, so I qualify for the senior rate, which is 7 bucks. I paid $12 at Stupid Cuts and with a 3 buck tip, that's $15. I give the barber at TBP a 5 buck tip and end up 3 bucks ahead. This means that every 4th haircut is free. Imagine that! read more

I wish I always lived closed enough to the Barber Pole that I could always have them cut my hair. Unfortunately, I've moved a distance away now. And what has that done? It's shown me that Barber Pole is easily one of the best barber shops in the socal area. For $8, I can get a quick, clean haircut from one of the few guys that actually know what they're doing. Plain and simple, these guys give great haircuts for a cheap price. They're great with kids too. My only complaint? Sometimes they don't go over my hair as many times as they should, and miss a few. This does depend on who cuts your hair though. Many props to Phong, Jack, Tony, Doc, and everyone else I've had the privilege of working with. Took my little brother here today for a haircut. He hates getting his hair cut or trimmed or anything because he likes it long but also because the last barber nicked his ear and apparently tried to hide that fact. We definitely didn't go there! Phong did his hair last time and good! I didn't know at the time but I think Thomas(?) cut his hair today - the man closest to the entrance - and he did great! He was also really patient with me and my constant requests to trim a little more here or there or layer his hair! I felt like a bother, which I probably was being a little bit of, but he took it like a sport and was super nice about it and even made sure to pay extra attention to my bro's hair and being careful of his ears. So initially I had asked to go for a 2" and down from there but he was homes and told me kindly that that might be too short especially since my brother looked at me like "WHAT?! THAT IS WAY TOO SHORT" hahaha so we compromised. His hair looks great! For all his griping about getting his hair trimmed, he left pretty happy and relieved that he didn't look "ugly" which was his worry! I came to this barber shop because my regular one in Long Beach was closed the particular week I went. I had seen this place before and noticed that they were open 7 days a week and only charged $8.00 for a haircut, so I thought, why not? This place is very no-frills. There's a TV against the wall showing some sports channel. I didn't even have to wait. I just walked in the door, barely sat down and one of the barbers calls out to me telling me he's ready for me. I sit down in the barber chair, tell the guy how I want my hair cut and he proceeded to get to work. He was pretty quick. After inspecting his work in the mirror, I gave him a thumbs-up. It's rare that a new barber would get my haircut done right the first time around, but this one did! I was impressed. :-) I was out the door about 10 minutes from the time I came in, so I was on my way quickly. I still love my regular barber in Long Beach, but it's good to know that I can come to this place as a backup, if I ever needed to. read more

I made sure to wait, not matter how many other barbers waived their hand for me to sit in their chair. It ain't easy switching barbers after decades, but I will admit that I was pleased with the cut Tony gave me and the conversation.
