The bar studio is my happy place. Elaina and team have created an inspired space and supportive community that have been my oasis through everything from pregnancy to pandemic to parenting. I originally discovered The Bar Method back in 2017. Barre is deceptively challenging, and I was quickly humbled by the workout. I remember grabbing heavy hand weights when I first walked into the barre studio, since I was accustomed to throwing around a lot of weight in CrossFit...and then wasn't even able to make it through warm up! Since that day, I religiously attended barre four times per week, and it became my sanity amidst the chaos of being a business owner, mom, boss, wife, etc. When I found out I was pregnant with my second child, the instructors were supportive, initially maintaining confidence while privately demonstrating modifications. I was blessed with an easy pregnancy, and I attribute a large part of that to barre keeping me disciplined and strong. I continued taking classes throughout my entire pregnancy until my daughter decided to make a quick entrance into the world...and I gave birth in the car on our way to the hospital! I again think the mental toughness that comes from getting through your third set of thigh work helped me through that amazing delivery. I'd highly encourage everyone to check out The Bar Method! It's a safe yet tough workout that really does help you stay healthy - both physically and mentally.

Thank God for an open house I was finally able to try "barre yoga". The place is actually quite easy to miss since the building is not facing the street and there are no signs. It's on the upper level of Step-N-Up. They have ample parking spaces and it's free. (Just be mindful, some of the spots says no parking for BM customers). The studio is so beautiful and kept clean with its white, gray, "so-ho" ambiance. Every body is so welcoming.i first sign-up and got a free tour. There's a locker, shower area. Free towels to use as well. Don't forget your non-skid socks. They do sell it there too! I attended a mixed work-out with 2 instructors (30mins each). It's actually very interesting but with killer moves due to repetition. Think about straight 30 push ups, minutes of planks and squatting on different forms. My legs were shaking and i definitely feel the burn! I like how it's a work-out separating each muscle group. You have to use some light weights, yoga straps, foam, soft mats etc. They have free water dispenser there too. Thank you so much for that open house! I can't wait to see tomorrow if I can walk.. lol

My friend and I have been trying to find a new workout passion, I told her how I was curious to try a barre workout, and lucky for us she told me how Bar Method had free tryout class for this weekend. I had a bit of trouble finding the studio, but that was due to me being new to Hawaii, and getting lost in Honolulu easily. Lucky for me they had a couple spots in their parking lot, so no street parking for me! We were told to show up fifteen minutes prior, it's best to wear leggings or ones that at least go past your knees, you can purchase grip socks but the floor is covered in carpet, so normal socks work fine. Be prepared to have jello legs for a day, you will shake during your first workout, but I was told to embrace the shake and don't worry about not looking experienced, have fun with it. I can definitely say this was a lot harder compared to when I did ballet as a kid! Studio was nice and clean, but locker room and showed, they even had wraps and mimosas waiting for us after our workout. I had a lot of fun, and I'm thinking about taking advantage of their deal and signing up.

Barre wasn't something I was planning to add-on to my regular workout routine so I am thankful to Groupon because now I am hooked! At first, I had no idea what it was. But I'm always down to try different workouts especially at a discounted price lol And I ended up loving it and purchased 10-class pack so I can continued going after my Groupon expired. The studio is conveniently located by the humane society. Nice, Cute, and Clean studio with lockers, shower, and super friendly staff. The instructors are the best. Very nice, helpful, and encouraging. There's a private parking lot (come 10 mins before class because that's when the class prior is leaving so plenty space will open up). And if you're hungry right after class? So many eateries nearby you can walk to! Dagon, Torikyu, Imanas Tei, Sushi King, Naru, etc etc. But why not 5-stars? I wish it was more affordable and offer more classes on the weekends lol For a single drop-in class is $29. For 10-pack classes is $219 For Unlimited Monthly is $179 with auto renew. HOWEVER, go follow them on IG....they often have a SALE for 10-pack classes! **dancing emoji here :) **

I took advantage of the new student special ($49 for unlimited classes x 2 weeks) and had my 1-on-1 with Abigail. She worked with me to find a time for us to sit down in the studio and discuss my goals, worries, and any questions that I might have. My primary concern when looking for a place for group exercise is finding a non-judgmental space that values community and diversity. Having moved from LA, I feared being in a competitive/image conscious space that made me feel more ashamed than motivated. Before I found Breathe, I was seriously considering paying far more for private classes for this reason. I will say that Breathe surpassed this expectation with flying colors. I made sure to arrive about 15 minutes before class so that I could chat with the instructor and get a tour of the studio. I was pleasantly surprised by all of the different body types and backgrounds of people I saw attending class. Everyone seemed to know each other and it really felt like a close community to me. I specifically attended the Breathe + Restore class which was half vinyasa flow, half restorative body + mind work/meditation. This was perfect for my beginner level. When I arrived, my equipment was set up for me with a lovely placard with my name on it which really made me feel welcome. My instructor Harmony made sure to check in with me and her warm, welcoming energy definitely put me at ease. I never felt pressured to push myself beyond my current limits whereas in LA I was frequently scolded in class for not holding a position long enough. The meditative work is what really made this class shine for me and left me feeling so grateful for the experience. I am going to try a few different classes during my 2-week trial, but I am certain that I will be moving forward with a membership when it is done. Thank you so much Breathe!

I had a back injury about a decade ago, and I've noticed more of a difference in my body after just a couple of weeks of taking classes here than I did after doing other types of workouts consistently for over a month. The classes really work and strengthen all those smaller muscles that support your body through everyday movement and daily activities. I also spend most of my workday sitting, tattooing, and hunched over, so barre has helped so much with strengthening the areas that tend to get tight, weak, or overworked from my job. They have a variety of classes: yoga, HIIT, booty workout, barre, etc. The barre classes I took were about 50 mins long. Although they weren't hour-long like at some other studios, the instructors were friendly and professional. Their workouts were tough, which I liked. I had a good sweaty workout every time. What I also liked was that they corrected and adjusted my form and that of other students. Try to get to class a early for parking and be sure to park in their designated stalls for class. Ok here's the thing. I started going here right after Thanksgiving and managed to stay motivated…read morethrough the new year - due in large part to my awesome coach Mel and the lovely ladies of the 530 AM class! That's right - 530 AM! Believe it or not, it is NOT the earliest class - that honor goes to the 445 AM boot camp - but it's a great way to start off your day. Egan's is all about contributing to your success. There are supplements, protein snacks and drinks, and a bit of gear for sale. Parking is right on the premises at $1/hour. And there is ALWAYS parking! Everyone who works the desk greets you every time you walk in, and my coach requires a once-weekly weigh in. If you aren't trending toward your goal, she (or he) reaches out to you to talk about your variables and how you can change your trajectory. Several times a year there are also challenges to mix things up a bit. These guys are as invested as you are! Coaches are always available to you. And a weigh in isn't just a weigh in - it's a really cool overall body analysis that shows you how much water is in your system (and consequently, how much more you could have), how much of your weight is fat and how much is muscle. I know! Cool - AND it holds you accountable. The gym has an app that allows you to manage your payments and reserve a spot for classes. Membership is unlimited all access - you can go to any location at any time and take any class, multiple times a day. Yeah, people go multiple times a day! Classes are fun, but they are HIIT classes, so you do to until exhaustion. But like all fun and challenging things, you can't wait to do it again. Classes also seem to switch the instructors up as well as the workouts, so don't be concerned that you'll get bored because you won't! Even more awesome, during this COVID-19 time the gym has closed but instructors are offering any number of online classes via FB Live and Zoom so you can keep on keeping on! And they are just committed and motivating online as they were in person. I always thought I could just work out on my own and be fine. I liked doing that too. But classes appear to be something I really respond to. I like the accountability and the energy of having others participating with you. I honest to God thought I was going to pass out at my first workout. I quickly realized I was horribly dehydrated and underestimated the effects of a pre-workout protein bar and it never happened again. Egan's help you develop a real body awareness and focus, and helps you renew your commitment to your own success. If you're wondering whether you can make it through a workout, well, you're just going to have to try it. And I highly recommend that you do. You may just surprise yourself!
