After a really emotional day (I had just lost my job), I found myself fully leaning into comfort food mode, and wow... this was exactly the kind of therapy I needed. Kia was incredibly kind, patient, and genuinely sweet. She gracefully listened while I shared a little of my story, offered compassion, and then proceeded to create what may have been the most ridiculously delicious dessert I've ever had. We did a gluten-free double chocolate + chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich with toasted marshmallow ice cream, drizzled with hot fudge, and they heated it up... I am not exaggerating when I say I nearly cried. Actually, I did cry (just lost my job and It was that good ). Warm gooey cookie + cold melty toasted marshmallow + hot fudge magic = absolute perfection. Thank you, Kia, for your kindness on a hard day and for making a dessert I will absolutely be dreaming about.
I'm a HUGE fan of the cookie and ice-cream combo. It's a lovely pairing especially when the cookie is warm. I'm glad I came across this cuuute shop with cool vibes. There's a wide variety of ice cream flavors, toppings and cookies to choose from...wish peanut butter was in the mix. The service was pretty good and I definitely want to go back.
The angle here is the ice cream sandwich, your choice of ice cream sandwiched between your choice of cookies (they can be the same type or different). They offer many varieties of ice cream and many varieties of cookies so go crazy, why don't you. I don't personally have a sweet tooth but I find their cookies better than their ice cream. And put them all together, it is a decadent ice cream sandwich. The employees were all very friendly. Parking in downtown Encinitas is extremely difficult but if you know where the train parking lot is located, there is a ton of free parking almost always available.
It reminded me of a similar place Austin, Texas called Moojo's. The ice cream is so good! I loved the creativity. The Gooey Butter cookie was freaking tasty! The Snickerdoodle was spot on! We even got lemon cookie for good measure and don't tell her but they were better than our friends! We got the Cookie Monster ice cream to pair with the cookies. It was got in a quick second! You gotta try this place!!
Stopped by just to get a cookie after. Eating sushi. A few doors away. We got the white Chocolate Chip Macadamia Nut cookie. It was good but , for me, a lil pricey at $3.00 each. Friendly service, though.
Honestly the most embarrassing moment of my entire life I take the love of my life out for ice cream at baked bear (it's both of our first time) I work a blue collar job and get paid cash daily so the only reason behind my 1 star rating is they have no signs posted about them not being able to take big bills. Especially considering the fact that these two sandwiches cost almost 25$ and they couldn't break a 100$ bill when we sat outside and watched them serve probably 30+ people in a span of 15 mins. Maybe they should train all of their underage staff to count cash or even maybe just check the register instead of just flat out denying me. Thankfully my date (my wife) had a debit card or else we wouldn't have been left with sticky fingers cause they cheap out on the cups to they serve the ice cream in. At the end of the day the ice cream sandwich's weren't terrible just the experience.
Can't go wrong with this ice cream place!! Service is great! Limited seating but they have a standing area inside, 2 tables outside and then a bench outside! Make sure to ask them to warm up your cookies and brownies!!
Tried the vanilla ice cream and monster cookie the first time I visited Baked Bear. The vanilla ice cream was deliciously creamy with a strong vanilla flavor. I love the ability to customize your ice cream sandwich and I can't wait to go back to try different combinations!
I had Baked Bear before for the first time on Valentine's Day and definitely had to come back! I usually don't like super sweet desserts but this one satisfies my sweet tooth every time. It's a small little dessert spot in the Encinitas located on Coastal Highway. Both times I got lucky that it wasn't as busy and I was able to get helped right away. The employees are super nice and ready to serve! I love the concept of ice cream sandwiches and having it with a warm brownie and chocolate chip cookie is soooooo good! The first time I had it with cookies and cream but I switched it out for the caramel pretzel fudge and it was an amazing, decadent combination. The pretzel added a good texture and the right amount of salty with sweet flavors. There's so many different combinations for people with different tastes, I hope to come back and try something different next time!
Customer service was amazing here! I missed a photo for what my daughter ordered, she said it was delicious! I ordered just a cone, plenty of creamy, flavorful icecream in my waffle cone! We will definitely return! Being a chilly night, wish they had indoor seating, just outdoors.
Finally was able to stop by here, since the kiddo really wanted ice cream. I was excited that they offered a vegan ice cream cookie sandwich option. I was low key disappointed that they hid all the vegan options in the back... but can't complain too much since they at least give the option. The cookie was decent and I really liked the oat milk chocolate chip ice cream. The kiddo lived her creation and devoured it. Parking can be a hassle as it's in the heart of D-town Encinitas, but was a yummy treat, so we will get back.
I love the ice cream here very much because it is delicious, there was good service, nice ambiance, and good music too.
Baked Bear is sooo goood! It is a little pricy but I'd say a good splurge every now and then. The service was good as usual. I got the bear bowl with warm gooey brownie at the bottom and vanilla ice cream on top. It was delicious! The spot is on the Encinitas shopping strip and it's always nice to end a beach day off with some yummy ice cream.
Finally!!!!!!! So glad baked bear opened down the road from us! My fiancé and I live in Cardiff & love walking to Encinitas for dinner + dessert! This is exactly what Encinitas needed :) I stopped in a few days ago and bought one of each cookie. The cookie of the month (August) is delicious! Remember to check-in once you arrive to get your free cookie! Baked bear also has a great selection of ice cream & toppings! Friendly staff 10/10 experience! We will be back :) read more

So yummy! Came here based on a recommendation from friends. They have a bunch of cookie and ice cream options. The combinations are endless! They also have toppings you can add-on. I got the brownie with mint chip ice cream. So good! There was a lot of ice cream -- definitely had to be eaten with a spoon. Perfect size to share or eat yourself if you're hungry :) Parking is a little tricky, it's on a really busy street with very limited street parking. Best place to park is in the lot behind the store. Employees are great -- super friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is very trendy. For seating there is a bar top you can stand at inside and outside there are a few tables with chairs. We'll be back next time we're in the area! read more

Don't forget the free cookie with the yelp check-in ;) They have a variety of cookies on display when you walk in along with a brownie option. We got the bear batter ice cream with the cookie monster and white chocolate macadamia nut cookie. It was delish but on the sweet side for us. I don't think I could finish the entire thing myself so 1/2 was perfect for me. For the free cookie, I got the cookies and cream cookie. It was a bit too sweet for me after my ice cream sandwich and only have one texture (soft). Not a bad cookie, but I think I'll try a different cookie next time. read more

I am a little indecisive so i love that you can mix and match the cookies and brownies i tried peanut butter nutella cookie and gooey butter cake cookie with cookies and cream ice cream and my boyfriend had snickerdoodle cookie and the flavor of the month cookie lemon cookie with vanilla ice cream. Our favorite cookies were the peanut butter nutella and snickerdoodle cookie. We still loved the lemon cookie! We wouldn't order the butter cookie again. I can't wait to try them again! I visited this place while I had family visiting and was pleased with how simple and how many different options there are! It gives a lot of customization to your dessert experience with unique flavors that are not overbearing. I have a simpler palate so I went with two similar cookies and vanilla ice cream to make my own ice cream sandwich. It is a smaller location so there is not a lot of seating to relax and enjoy, but with this being in downtown Encinitas you can easily walk to your next destination and enjoy your dessert! The staff were very helpful in explaining how this works and makes it an enjoyable experience for a first date, family functions, and even on your own. read more
Wake and bake with the baked bear!!! The cookies are full of flavor and they are soft. They are Cookie Monster friendly ( they didn't judge me for stacking three cookies and taking a bite). Check in on Yelp for a free cookie. You dough not have to believe me come in and take a bite off that cookie and thank me later. The store is clean and the people are friendly. Make sure to try their cookie or the month. This month is was a chocolate chip cookie with Nutella and pretzels. Thanks baked bear you are cooler than a polar bears toenails!!! read more

I've been to The Baked Bear in Pacific Beach multiple times, but was lucky to find this one in Encinitas which is much closer to home. The brownie sandwich with cookie dough ice cream was amazing. We'll definitely be back. read more

I absolutely LOVE this place! Every time I'm in Encinitas, this is my go-to place for dessert! It's a simple concept and all of their cookies and ice cream our delicious. I don't have a favorite because I try something new every time and it never disappoints. If you love sweets and cookies then come here. read more

Thankfully this desert bar is over an hour away from home otherwise I'd get diabetes in a year. If heroin could have a cookie/ice cream counterpart, this would be it. The cookie sandwich was soft, crumbly, and just delicious on its own. The ice cream was definitely creamier than a typical creamery and together with the cookie it was heaven! Kudos to the owner for taking the risk, and doing it beautifully. read more

A truly terrible cookie- bought 6 for 10 bucks, tasted like they had been made by a 4 year old in an easy bake oven- not very sweet, or flavourful, and so cakey they can barely hold together- extremely low quality read more

This is just a great small dessert place! They have all sorts of cookies to choose from and even a Gluten Free option. As well as many choices for ice cream and a soy free ice cream. You can do a bear bowl which is only chocolate chip cookie or brownie between any choice of ice cream warmed up. Sounds super delicious. I just did a regular cookie sandwich with the Gluten free cookie and s'mores ice cream. The s'mores i cream had marshmallows in them and it was good!! Definitely come here and take a picture of the inside. It's designed very well and cute as well! They have plenty of toppings to choose from as well! read more

My husband and I had Baked Bear cater our dessert at our wedding instead of getting cake. It was a hit! Everybody raved about it! Our guests were able to choose from 4 different ice cream flavors and 4 different cookie flavors that we had chosen. They brought their own cart and supplies and displayed everything really nicely. Daniel was great at communicating with me about all the details leading up to the wedding. My husband and I were able to do a taste test to choose our flavors. Everything is so good that it made our decision that much harder. One of my friends at the wedding was so impressed that he booked them for his wedding a few weeks later. I highly recommend Baked Bear for any special group event or even just to stop by one of their locations for a tasty dessert. read more
OK so we were just supposed to be shopping and maybe grabbing some dinner and then we saw the baked bear. If you're not familiar with it, beer is when you can make your own custom ice cream sandwich you can pick two cookies or a cookie and a brownie, they always have a vegan option And their cookies are always warm. The ice cream is amazing and the service is always good. Even in the busy times this location is a little bit parking challenged but the coaster is walking distance so that's one way to avoid parking problems. We went by here after dinner, and took our order to go in the servings are robust so we ended up having to wrap and freeze half of it to save for later. I would recommend if you're going to take that route to take the cookie and or brownie off and store separately for later we are big fans and will always come back and save room. Go check it out. This is a nice treat for someone if it's their birthday, or just a special dessert, go enjoy! read more

They have one vegan option, for sure. Not sure if they have more than one. I always get the gluten free vegan cookie with vegan ice cream sandwich
