It gives a lot of customization to your dessert experience with unique flavors that are not overbearing. I have a simpler palate so I went with two similar cookies and vanilla ice cream to make my own ice cream sandwich. It is a smaller location so there is not a lot of seating to relax and enjoy, but with this being in downtown Encinitas you can easily walk to your next destination and enjoy your dessert! We got the bear batter ice cream with the cookie monster and white chocolate macadamia nut cookie. It was delish but on the sweet side for us. I don't think I could finish the entire thing myself so 1/2 was perfect for me. For the free cookie, I got the cookies and cream cookie. I was supposed to just be enjoying an evening of tequila and tacos in Encinitas on Saturday. But seeing a new Baked Bear location changed my plans. I couldn't even wait until after dinner, it was the first thing I grabbed. If you aren't familiar with The Baked Bear- they have a few locations and are known for their ice cream sandwiches. First you choose a cookie or brownie as your base- I love that you can mix and match flavors. I'm incredibly indecisive so I like that I can choose more than one flavor. Then you pick out your ice cream and any toppings you would like. The toppings looked a little messy in the sunshine so I kept it simple for this visit. Parking is a challenge in the area of course and I'm sure this location will stay busy for awhile. Have patience and you should have a great experience. The Coaster station is right around the corner if that's your way of avoiding the parking hassle. I have never written a review for a restaurant but I am very disappointed with the service and quality of my order. I ordered the hot fudge cookie sundae. It comes with a cookie and a large scoop of ice cream. It was supposed to have hot fudge on it, but instead of putting the hot fudge on the ice cream like a typical sundae, the girl put whipped cream on the ice cream and drizzled a small amount of chocolate. I asked her if there was hot fudge in the cup and she said there was, but her tone was as if I shouldn't question what she just made. I took her word for it and walked out. I had absolutely no hot fudge on the ice cream or in the cup. The minuet amount of drizzle wasn't warm and didn't warrant the extra charge for a hot fudge sundae. Very disappointing as I didn't receive what I paid for. I won't be going back. I think the employees should be trained on how to make a sundae and customer service. read more

If you're not familiar with it, beer is when you can make your own custom ice cream sandwich you can pick two cookies or a cookie and a brownie, they always have a vegan option And their cookies are always warm. The ice cream is amazing and the service is always good. Even in the busy times this location is a little bit parking challenged but the coaster is walking distance so that's one way to avoid parking problems. We went by here after dinner, and took our order to go in the servings are robust so we ended up having to wrap and freeze half of it to save for later. I would recommend if you're going to take that route to take the cookie and or brownie off and store separately for later we are big fans and will always come back and save room. Go check it out. My husband and I had Baked Bear cater our dessert at our wedding instead of getting cake. It was a hit! Everybody raved about it! Our guests were able to choose from 4 different ice cream flavors and 4 different cookie flavors that we had chosen. They brought their own cart and supplies and displayed everything really nicely. Daniel was great at communicating with me about all the details leading up to the wedding. My husband and I were able to do a taste test to choose our flavors. Everything is so good that it made our decision that much harder. One of my friends at the wedding was so impressed that he booked them for his wedding a few weeks later. Come here somewhat regularly as my kids love the cookies. Great ice cream and cookies. My only complaint is they are always understaffed and the line is often out the door after 6pm. Last time we went, line was out the door and only two employees working. 2 families walked up and then left because of the wait. Employees are typical teenagers that are oblivious to the long line of people waiting yet they always have time to check their phones instead of serving the next customer.
