So, I am the founder of a motorcycle group in Sacramento and when we go on planned rides a restaurant is always added in the route. We have been coming here for over a year now and every time we show up with 7-20 people, and they always get us seated right away and served. The menu has something for everyone and honestly they have the best soft baked pretzels that I have ever had in my life and I am pretty much a soft baked pretzel expert :). There is not one thing I have ever had that was not good from the pulled pork, to a burger, to the Chinese chicken salad. And the tater-tots are top notch.. I know you might be thinking but that's not hard to f up... But if you are a tater tot fan you know they need to be crispy and salted and this place nails it every time. The staff has always been attentive and efficient and even during Covid they were able to help us with different rules of course but I still felt taken care of and it was nice to eat in a restaurant that still gave you the experience while following the guideline's placed on them. If I could give this establishment zero stars I would. The food was okay but the service and the behavior of the manager were were horrendous. When a spoke with the manager, Ariana, about our hour and half wait for food. Her first response was that we should cancel our order and go somewhere else. She had no intention of trying to solve or explain the issue, when I expressed my frustration with this response she simply didn't care about our patronage and clearly would have preferred we go somewhere else. She was unnecessarily aggressive and unprofessional. We will never step foot in the restaurant again. I am posting so that the owner of this establishment know of the damage to reputation this particular individual is causing. read more

I was not impressed because the bbq tasted like vinegar. When I complained and didn't eat but a bite of two I was met with poor customer service . I was hassled a bit about why I didn't like it . In the end they took $6 off my bill instead of not charging me a good portion of what I didn't eat . They also could have suggested a different meal . read more

This place is so good. My husband and I visit regularly and have been very pleased with the service and food. The apps are yummy (esp. the wings and guac/chips), as well as the salads and pretty much everything else. Love the brisket and ribs - and pulled pork. On a work trip and perusing the local fare for dinner ideas, I came across this place. If the pics aren't enough to entice you, visiting their website to view their menu certainly should. I was going to order online and just go pick it up, but I noticed pics on Yelp of some nice looking desserts, but their website says you have to ask what their desserts are since they change frequently. I almost didn't go because it was a 25 minute drive from the hotel. So very glad I made the trip. Although Yelp says they close at 8pm, I arrived at 7:30 stayed past 8 and they didn't look like they were planning on closing to me. It was a bit confusing which door I was supposed to use. I entered from the patio door where there was a sign that directed to wait at the host's station to be seated. Then on the door, there was a sign that said, "Use other entrance". As I was choosing a parking spot, I didn't see another entrance, but I guess there's one near the dance studio. They have happy hour from 4-6 where they offer $3 off of their signature cocktails. I would've had two or three had I been within those hours. I ordered their signature whiskey sour and it was phenomenal! Absolutely perfect amount of sweet & sour and they weren't stingy with the whiskey. For the entrée, I had the pulled pork plate with the smokehouse chili and the jalapeño mac & cheese. BBQ is more than cooking, it's an art. The very first bite of the pulled pork told me that someone respected the artistry of the craft. The seasoning of the meat, the smoke of the meat, the texture... I knew immediately that this wasn't a native Californian's BBQ. The chili is among one of the best I've had in some time. The mac & cheese wasn't my favorite, I prefer a baked mac & cheese but it was very cheesy and the jalapeño flavor was present but not overpowering. The portions of meat was great, although I would've liked a little bit more of the sides. The pricing was magnificent. Adult beverage and dinner came just under $25. Sam, my wonderful waiter, told me that this is indeed a family business and I was tasting the influence of authentic Texas BBQ. I pointedly stopped eating to save room for dessert, but to my dismay they were out. I was informed that they normally have a cheesecake and one other option such as chocolate cake. So we stopped in to try this place out for some dinner. We got the BBQ sampler and a pulled pork sandwich and a few drinks. The food was good, the drinks where strong and the service was alright. The downside of sitting outside was the very annoying stubborn flys that wanted to help us eat our dinner. I would recommend sitting inside. read more

Much improved since first week of opening!! Upon ordering the Pulled Pork Plate (w/ half Brisket) & 2 sides: Side Salad & Fries, the dish was absolutely delicious. Well seasoned meat, good size side salad, and a healthy portion of crispy fries. I was excited to try the brisket (as they had run out quickly during their first week) and it was great. Though, it wasn't in whole slices like I had anticipated, the flavor was definitely there. The pulled pork was also great too, you can't go wrong with that. I can't stress enough how great service can affect a meal. During my first dining experience, the server was nowhere to be found, and I mean the entire time the food took over 30 min to drop and it sure wasn't amazing. However, this time around, my server Leslie was absolutely fantastic. She made my experience exceptional, allowed me to try the beer cheese first, and constantly checked on me to make sure I was happy with the meal. Though their first week was clearly a trial run..they have much improved their service, food and even the atmosphere feels completely different. At the end of the day.. If you visited this place upon their first week of opening, they absolutely deserve another go around. Well done. read more

We stopped in after Christmas Tree cutting... My job as navigator is also to do Yelp research on finding a new restaurant to try. This place was a hit for both of us!!! We are lighter eaters and had to take most of the Brussels home because the portion size of the sandwich and fries was so large. Food was tasty and hot, service was smiling and friendly, atmosphere was laid back and comfortable. Prices were very reasonable, in fact, I was shocked by the inexpensiveness of the sides and appetizers and loved that they offered half salads. Above all, the restaurant was very clean... leaving the bathroom I saw a bin on the counter near the kitchen that was labelled something like, "menus to be disinfected." I visit my folks in Rancho Murrieta often and they don't have much for restaurants. Super happy the old Chinese restaurant was taken over by The Backyard! With many younger residents in this area now there aren't a lot of options for casual dining unless you count the Burger King attached to the gas station. There is a great restaurant inside the hotel called "The Gate", but is is higher end food and prices. The Backyard offers BBQ, Sandwiches, Salads and a great selection of beers on tap. The service is wonderful and the food is reasonable and delicious. You can get a giant baked potato with all the trimmings with pulled pork on top as well. I had the pulled pork platter that came with two sides and a roll for $16. I took home half of the meal and I pride myself on being able to clear my plate! It's a really nice establishment and we will definitely be back! read more

Came on a Saturday evening with two of my kids. There was a 15 minute wait with open tables but I overheard the servers were short staffed. We were seated near the bar and the service was great. The kids meal of burger patty was bland but he ate the fries. My oldest had the ribs meal which said were good except the Mac n cheese wasn't to his liking. I ate the tri tip sandwich was great and enjoyed the fries. I am willing to come back again at a less busy time to try other things. read more
