Good food and great service! We stopped in for lunch on a cold and snowy April day so thank you for being opened. The chicken and vegetable soup was really good and it warmed me right up!! I ordered a BLT with rye so delicious and it was a big sandwich. My boyfriend got the Caesar wrap with Mac salad and that was really good also. Came here due to another diner in town having too long of a wait on a Sunday morning. We were seated immediately. I got the mac and cheese bites for an appetizer. They were phenomenal! They were very gooey in the inside. A friend got the pretzel sticks. I only had a bite but they were soft. For my meal I got grilled cheese with a side salad. The salad came first. It tasted just as fine as any other side salad and was a good size. Croutons had no taste to them.... The grilled cheese was good but I wished they had sourdough as an option. Only had white, wheat, or rye. Overall it was a good experience. Service was the best part of it. We had a fantastic waitress. I forgot her name but she had fantastic eyeliner wings. read more

We happened to love this place. I had an incredible Rueben (really! try it!) and everyone else enjoyed their dishes from the crab cakes to the wings to the burgers! If I had one critique it would be the hot wings came out with barely any hot sauce in it,.. but she quickly remedied it with an extra side of hot sauce. This place is decorated with some old movie memorabilia, including an Elvis statue in the corner. It has a cool gimic of being called the Front Door Diner during the day and switching to the Back Door Bar (entrance in rear) at night. read more

My little girl ordered a grill cheese sandwich for kids, What came out of the kitchen it was very poor at best. One piece of bread folded over toasted only on one side and American white cheese was not melted. Wow she was not a happy camper and ask what is this!!!!!! Most kids cheese sandwich are made out of American yellow cheese, that's was what she looking for. They did replace it with some Mac and cheese that she likes. Now my wife ordered the turkey sub started out OK at first but a bug came walking out of it as she pickup the other half of the sub. The cook came out of the back and told us the door is open and this is the Adirondacks the bugs are allover. They offered to replace it or order something else but my wife was not having any of that. My gyro sandwich and our calamari appetizer was OK. The waitress tried hard to make it right and remove things from the bill but the damage was done with the attitude from the kitchen. Stopped here for lunch over the holiday weekend and left before we placed our order. Took forever to get waited on, we asked for coffee which took another 15 minutes. Waitress was not friendly and we waited another 15 minutes and she never came back to get our order. We left the money for our coffee on the table and walked out. I like their concept of a bar in the back and a diner in the front. They had posters of American icons and vinyls hung up all around the diner. It's a charming place, and the service is friendly. The food was great but we went on a Sunday afternoon on our way to Rochester and were greeted with a neglectful bar tender who was more worried about flirting with the owner than getting me a glass of water. This place is the place where the locals hang out. If you want good drinks, great beer and delicious food, check this place out. Drove 600 miles to go rafting on the moose and had dinner here afterwords. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. Best post rafting food I ever ate hands down. People were friendly/fun loving etc. not a classy joint but def a welcoming and fun one. Bought drinks for myself, my buddy and several others and the bill with a generous tip was only $40. Ate at the attached Front Door. Ordered Coke, server brought Pepsi, would have ordered something else if informed they only carried Pepsi products. Never got the Fried Pickles we ordered (not charged). Ordered the "Rachel" on wheat w/fries. 1st order came on Rye bread w/fries. 2nd order on Wheat w/chips but still charged for fries. Two stars, only for the decor. The food was average, for the price. My mom's salad had a rotten cherry tomato in it, and when it was shown to the waitress, all she did was shrug her shoulders, and say sorry. Stopped for lunch on a fall foliage trip to old forge from Syracuse for my 11 yr wedding anniversary. 80 degree day, September 27th, and no AC hotter then hell. Food was very subpar. We both got wraps with turkey. The turkey was cheapest of cheap wafer turkey, the waitress had no clue when we asked questions. Service was excellent, food was delicious and coffee was hot! Amy our waitress was very attentative to our needs.....refilled our coffee cups when needed and kept checking back to see if we needed anything else. Was very nice to see that they make their own breads. Place was extremely clean and the posters and 45s on the wall brought back memories. We ordered the side pancake for each of my boys for breakfast and it was absolutely huge....the entire size of the plate. Definitely a go to place next time we are in Old Forge! read more

Went for lunch with a group of 6, kids & adults. We were seated promptly and our server was very friendly and attentive. A few items were out but other than that, we had an excellent lunch at a good price (considering the touristy nature of the town!). I had the T & D (or was it T&B?) burger with jalapeños, bacon and cheese. It was excellent! My boys both had the chicken tenders from the kids menu and they were good sized and served with their steak fries (which are delicious). And my Dad enjoyed his swiss n blue burger. It's not often that my family all agree on a restaurant so the fact that we all enjoyed our lunch is definitely saying something :-) I'm sure we'll be back. read more

Was so disappointed that our last meal on our vacation was here bc we didn't have time to wait at Walts or Keyes so we went here.. very obvious why there is no wait.. this was the only establishment in Old Forge that I felt like we were bothering the waitresses. We ate out for 4 days straight and never had an issue and felt like other places go above and beyond.. how do you not automatically give syrup when people order french toast and pancakes?? They didn't have a kids breakfast menu or they just didn't give it to us.. that means you pay adult prices for kids.. ridiculous. I ordered a breakfast sandwich scramble.. picture attached there seriously could not have been more then maybe one egg at best and that's pushing it. I really wanted egg in my scramble but the server said she was sorry and I could order something else or they could make it again but they would not credit me for the meal and would charge me to make it again.. wait what?? I showed her but she said sorry that was their rule... I was floored. If I was in New Jersey I would've escalated to the heavens but wasn't in the mood to end my trip on a negative note in front of my kids.. $45.00 for 2 adults and 2 children for BREAKFAST.. Nope.. go to Keyes Pancake house, food AND service was 100 times better and we fed 6 people for $50 with a whole bunch of extra sides of bacon. read more

I have been going to old forge for family vacation every summer. Saw the front door diner last year and wanted to try it out. Was there recently. Food was mediocre, waitress screwed up our drinks and didnt bother to fix it. Although we received terrible service we tipped her anyway... a few days later when checking account online we noticed the amount that got charged was higher than what was on the receipt. The waitress decided to give herself a higher tip than what was written down. Never again will i go and will let people know not to go because they will just get ripped off if they pay with a card. I rate this place with a negative star. read more

If you travel to Old Forge you must stop here. The place is very nicely decorated with a beautiful fireplace and is extremely welcoming. The staff is beyond accommodating and very friendly. Especially the owner who went out of his way to ensure a pleasant trip to old forge. They have a great selection of different beers and liquors as well as food. I had the chicken wings and they were perfect. The fact that I am from Buffalo and very picky about my wings is a testament to how good they were. Right before hiking one of the mountains, we stopped here for some food. We did not go into the bar, only the diner. My brother and I got chicken Caesar salads. I picked a half alive BUG out of mine, another crawled out from a piece of lettuce on his, and another flew out of his salad and landed in his chocolate milk. No one came to apologize, and our waitress only offered to take the salads off, not the sandwiches my parents were now too disgusted to eat. We left.
