Did they have a lot of fun. YUP. Depending on where you are coming from its up the hill right as you enter hill country off of 290 from south austin. If you are coming from the west off 290 its headed towards south austin about 20min from Dripping Springs a few min past Belterra strip mall food area. Plenty of parking. Lots of seating on a Sunday around 12noon ish Thanksgiving weekend. No time limit on doing your chosen art. I tried glass making for the 1st and it was fun and challenging l. Instructions by the staff very useful! Friendly. Helpful. Welcoming. We each chose something different. Plenty of items small, med or large to chose from. Pottery comes with whatever pain you want, glass area there are easy and complex projects. You pay, they fire/bake the pieces and you show up about a week later to grab your pieces. We each got something around 40.00 or under. Time flew by. We were there for maybe 2.5hrs. My teens were not on their phones once. Engaged, creative, good family time. Come visit, bring a friend, spouse/partner, day date, just yourself. I was meeting my team in Austin and looking for a fun team activity for us to do and came across this gem. There are plenty of places to go and paint ceramics but this place also offered mosaics, glass blowing and other great art options which I loved. I was able to reserve the private room for my team and brought in snacks (tea party set up) for the group. The staff was so very accommodating and helpful with everything. We all enjoyed ourselves. My wife and two daughters went there during spring break to pick out some pottery and paint it. They had a great time, each one, picking what they wanted to paint. My wife, a mug, my daughter, a vase, my other daughter a bird planter that she's going to give to her grandma back in Norway. They had a wonderful time. We've attended a birthday and another event at The Art Garage a few years ago. When I saw them "donate" a birthday party package at a title 1 school, I bid on it. I paid close to $200 for what was advertised as a $300 package value. When I received it in late May 2024, I emailed the owner to ask if I could use it in spring of 2025 (that's when both of my girls birthdays are) since there was an expiration date of 12-31-24. She said, "That would be just fine! :)" I even specified the months when I asked. Not sure she would give out a voucher for just seven months anyway as kids have birthdays year-round. I called in December when I was sick to schedule, but no one answered. I left it for January as I felt awful. I emailed 1-15-25 to school the birthday party for April. The owner replies saying it expired and now will only allow for a deposit of $100-$150. I'm in shock. I have the email thread showing she said it was okay. I called and talked to Meghan, the manager at the south location. She apologized and said there's nothing she can do as Kelly, the owner, is her boss. She was really nice about it and has been nice when we've gone in the past. She is likely the one who people encounter when they go. The owner clearly lacks integrity, honor, and is greedy. How can one give out a voucher for $300, say it's okay to use past the expiration date that she personally set anyway, and then say it's actually now worth a third or half that?! She should give the voucher to help the title 1 school and honor it when a family tries to use it. I can only assume she used it for free advertising and is so greedy she tries to get more money out of the family that won it. I already mentioned several times we would pay for extra kids as it only includes eight kids. She would have made money from me if that was her agenda. She clearly just wanted more. read more

The kids enjoy painting the ceramic/pottery pieces the most. When I was younger, my mother and I spent time painting ceramics together. We used acrylics and it was a fairly cheap way to spend, quality time together. Now I'm a mother, with a daughter who really loves to be creative and artistic. I google searched for ceramics, thinking that I could share the great time I spent with my mother. I found Art Garage, loaded my girl up and made the trip out to "almost dripping springs" Austin. Lol I think the prices can definitely run a wide array from some smaller items being on the cheaper end, but some of the items were as high as $85. If you are a parent on a budget, it may be best to talk about what each kiddo has a cap of, cause it may eliminate melt downs or disappointment that happens before you choose items. We both chose items in the $15-20 range, and for me I was expecting less, but times have changed and the cost of operating a business has to reflect accordingly. Did she enjoy it? She did. The shop is nice, and people who worked there were pleasant enough. I had the chance to speak with the owner via Yelp, about my impression, and will say she is a very kind person. The shop offers classes too which in doing some research are comparative to other shops in the area. I may have to sign my daughter up for one, just to see how she likes it. read more

We had the best time at the Art Garage yesterday! But this review is really directed at the incredibly sweet staff who accommodated us so nicely. I purchased tickets for a tea party pottery event and misread the date so my daughter and I showed up a day early. While I felt totally embarrassed, the staff very graciously set up a little mini tea party for me and my 3 year old. They brought her lemonade and cake and cute dress up clothes. My daughter had such a special day and was hugging one of the employees by the time we left (shoutout to Michelle!) Absolutely love this place! Such a cool concept to spend a few hours with your kids or other adults and get creative! You have the option of painting a canvas, painting ceramics, or creating a mosaic. They have a very nice selection of ceramics to choose from and for that reason, it took us about 10-15 minutes to decide. After making our selections, it was time to choose paint colors and that took another 10-15 minutes as one of the ceramics we chose was a garden gnome and we wanted to get his facial features just right. About 8 different colors later, we were finally on our creative way and after about 1 & 1/2 hours, we walked away very satisfied. Kelly was very patient and we appreciated her. She also thoroughly explained everything and kept checking on us to make sure we were doing ok. I came here with my husband on our first wedding anniversary and we had such a great time! Kim took amazing care of us! I told her I wanted a pencil holder with butterflies on it and she suggested a small vase with flat sides so that I could stamp on the butterflies (as I do not have the artistic ability to freehand tiny butterflies). She also suggested color themes and even showed me the perfect stamping technique! She was so helpful with everything and regularly checked up on us just enough! My 6 and 8 year old have learned several different mediums for creation: sculpture, glass fusion, painting, drawing and of course, tie-dying--well beyond what they learned in their school art class! The kids had a TON of fun painting the statues they picked out. The wife and I enjoyed painting as well. Two small issues, though: 1.) The pre-made statues are a little pricey. We were there for about an hour, and with two small statues and two refrigerator magnets, the cost was about $100. That's too much for 1 hour of fun. 2.) The front desk person did not explain anything. We figured out what to do by watching other customers. I'm still not 100% what the Art Garage is... is it just a place to spend $100 in an hour to paint pre-made figurines? What else can we do there? Do they offer classes? Can we make our own little clay statues, and paint those instead? What about just drawing or painting a picture? The girl at the front desk gave us little trays to put the paint in - that was it. No walk through, no list of offered services, no options on what other art projects were available - she didn't even show us where the paint was. That was kind of lame.
