WE LOVE FIGMENT, we have been going to Figment for camps and birthday parties since my little boy was 3 (he is now 8!) we love how thoughtful and creative this place is and I LOVE all the cute pets she has for the children to cuddle or learn about caring for them. This is one of my son's favorite places and he begs to go each year for camps! No surprise as it gets booked quick! Here is a little more about this wonderful spot from the owner email: The Figment crew is excited to get started with this new school year and welcome our new families and kiddos into our creative space. I wanted to introduce myself, but I'm sure we will meet in person soon. My name is Amber and I am the founder/owner/lead animal wrangler of Figment. I started Wee Warhols (now Figment Creative Labs) out of my garage in 2013. I was doing process art and sensory play with my boys, then 2 and 3yrs old, and was encouraged by friends to share that experience with other kids. I love watching kids experiment and learn through play. They always amaze me with their creativity and sense of wonder. The business has evolved over the years as my boys have grown. I started adding STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) to make sure they were constantly being challenged and engaged. (I am one of the contributors to a STEAM Kids series https://steamkidsbooks.com/about-us/ ) The addition of all the animals came about when we were home during Covid. I realized how therapeutic it was to have the animals to care for and love. I believe having the animals around teaches the kids empathy and responsibility. I have a small farm at my home and plan to have the kids out for field trips when we get things fixed up a bit more. (Oh yes, I have a very loving and supportive husband, Jeremy who puts up with my long hours and many animals.) I couldn't be happier about how Figment has grown and evolved over the years. And now your kids get to become part of that! We have a lot of fun and creativity ahead of us. Amber Scardino @figmentcreative

Wow, what a wonderful experience we had today (01/30/2016) at Wee Warhols as they hosted DSACT for a morning of fun and art. From the street you may be a little confused, because for all intents and purposes this is a (beautiful) house. But the living quarters are in the back, and the garage and open area is where all of the fun happens. I'm not much of an artist, but they had a TON of activities and tables setup for the kids to do all kinds of fun stuff. And if they get bored of the art, then there is a great swing hanging from a old tree that you can swing from, a play kitchen, kids work bench, etc. The instructor (Amber) had a shockingly good memory and (as far as I saw) remembered the names off all the children. Amber and her assistant were fun, kind, and patient - everything you would want from adults working with kids - especially kids with special needs. If they had cooler of beer, I would have stayed all day. Everyone was having good time and no one wanted to leave. We'll be back.

What age kids would this be good for? From the pictures, there are a lot of younger (3-5 year olds?) kids. Would and 8-year-old enjoy visiting?

Yes. We have kids up to age thirteen attending camp. We group kids into three different groups depending on age.

Great place for kid to explore and be in exploring mood to get their hand dirty to discover things instead of iPads or iPhones. They can get wet and dirty (bring towels and xtra clothing for changing) since plenty of difference outdoor areas for them to discover and also inside there sessions or classes that they can sign up to lean things about nature & science. Really appreciated all this and especially the staff who are wonderfully patient with all type of kids and sometimes parents too. Thanks you.

I didn't know what to expect from this place. Some science centers are kids-only affairs (despite…read morenot being billed as such) while others have more to offer visitors of all ages. Fortunately, the Austin Nature & Science Center ended up falling in the latter category. The main building houses an assortment of bones, shells, and rocks (as well as an axolotl tank) and another building is home to various reptiles. Outside areas include a dino pit (where kids can dig for fossils) and several animal enclosures. What makes the latter unique is that the animals are rehab/rescue cases. They include everything from a bobcat to a porcupine to a 34-year-old one-eyed owl (!!) and more. Granted, Austin Nature & Science Center does offer more for a younger crowd, and it isn't particularly easy to get to by bus, but it's hard to argue with a chance to take in flora and fauna for free.

(A small miracle) From the beginning to the end the lesson was full of excellent scientific learning and really fun experiments. The instructor was great at managing the big group of kids (20) with the help of our teachers. Their prices are very reasonable for what you get. They even sent the kids home with some cool color changing cups. We will definitely be booking them again.

They gave every kid a chance to come up front, which is good, but it meant that the same cheap tricks were repeated several times. For example, we watched 16 different kids spin a tube in the air and make a WOO WOO WOO noise with it. They did not explain why the tube makes the noise. We sat, watching even more kids pull a string attached to a bucket to make a vaguely thunder like noise over and over and over again. Again, no explanation of sound waves or vibrations. I don't know why the presenter was in a lab coat. I don't know why the show was recommended for ages 8 and up only. By the time you're 8, you've already shaken a slinky around (another one of the 'scientific demonstrations') Some kids went up twice, while there were still others raising their hand for their turn to go up the first time. The presenter never asked for only those who haven't been up yet to raise their hand. Several families left immediately after their kid finished their turn on stage.

The cherry on top was the final game where the adults were invited to join in -- that was just as fun for us as it was for the kids! Highly recommend this place for classes and parties. I cannot say enough great things about this place. We're moving out of state in a few months, and Mr. Johnson took time to find other Tiger Rock associated places near our new town. I've noticed a positive change in my son's behavior too. I was a little worried he might try and use Taekwondo at school, but after a talk about not, and knowing the Tiger Cub pledge, he's been very great with only doing it at the center. Most importantly, my son is VERY happy going to class, which makes me a happy mom.

Instructions by the staff very useful! Friendly. Helpful. Welcoming. We each chose something different. Plenty of items small, med or large to chose from. Pottery comes with whatever pain you want, glass area there are easy and complex projects. You pay, they fire/bake the pieces and you show up about a week later to grab your pieces. We each got something around 40.00 or under. Time flew by. We were there for maybe 2.5hrs. My teens were not on their phones once. Engaged, creative, good family time. Come visit, bring a friend, spouse/partner, day date, just yourself. Thank you for having this space for folks to be in the moment and creative with things that open their mind, heart and soul
