The canvas
Bhagyashree B.

This is a great place to learn pottery or unleash your creative by DIY pottery painting. There are so many pretty pieces that you can pick from the pottery shelf such as mugs, planters, coasters, dishes and much more. Just grab a few paints that you like and transform the blank pottery canvas into a personalized art that you can take home with you! They fire/glaze your piece after painting and you can pick it one that's done after a week. I enjoyed the entire process although I do wish that they had instructions printed out for us to follow as can be a bit confusing for first-timers.

Camille was awesome! Her instructions were easy to follow, she answered all questions and was really helpful

Ask the Community - Cafe Monet

For your walk in pottery painting do you have any iridescent glazes? I've been trying to find a studio offering those options so I can recreate a gift from my grandmother to my mom that she lost.

Hi there! So sorry for our delay in responding. We do not offer any iridescent glasses. You should be able to find glaze at a hobby store and apply an acrylic sealant to it. Thanks for thinking of us.

What's the pricing for the painting reservation?

Good morning! Thanks for your message. There isn’t a cost to reserve a table. We take walk-ins and reservations. The cost to paint will depend upon what you pick out to paint. Our prices start at $8 and up. Our average price point is around $24.… Read more

This place has been on my list for months and I was so so glad to finally have been able to go!…read more I had a little trouble getting into the parking lot for this place as it's uphill and small. Additionally, parking on the street was also available. When we got to the site, it was an shift of vibe. Everything felt incredibly peaceful and relaxing. We arrived there around 40 minutes early so we had a good amount of time to lay around. There was a cozy house that had a couch for guests to enjoy. In that same house, there was a changing room where we could change into our attire. Once it was our time, we headed to a dome like clear structure where the class would take place. There was about 8-10 pottery stations equipped with all the necessary materials. The instructor was so helpful and engaging. She would teach a section then she'd go around and help everyone and she truly transformed each piece. Once completed, we had the option to start another piece. Afterwards, we got the experience to also glaze pieces. Since our freshly done pieces need time to dry, we got to pick other pieces to glaze. This was also a cool opportunity and I really enjoyed this process. Lastly, once we were all done, we paid ($50 each) and headed to the completed pieces to be able to take one home. The best part about this all was that this felt like a community, getting to see what others have created. The concept is such a unique experience and I hope that I'll be able to stop by with more family and friends. Great experience, I highly recommend it!!!

Rakhi and her staff, including Maya and Karis, were fantastic. Our ability to follow directions and create the initial form varied among our group, and some had to restart from the beginning more than once. Maya was very patient with us and adjusted how much she assisted by each person's ability. Knowing we were first timers, the staff were very encouraging and helpful as we selected our shapes and attempted to create them. They also helped us personalize each piece with additional designs, and we're very excited to see how everything turns out. There are two parts to this class, creating a piece for baking and in a few weeks we'll return to paint and glaze the pieces so they're food safe. I think we're going to take a longer course the next time!

The event post noted one price and when we got to the event, we were told it would cost extra to glaze the bowl which was a necessary step make the clay piece food-safe. We were making dog bowls so of course we wanted them to be food-safe but it was a bummer that we would have to pay an additional fee on top of what we had already paid. I was charged more than others in my group! We were instructed to make our bowls outside on the picnic tables which weren't flat surfaces. The event poster also stated that we could shape our clay by hand or use the spinning wheel. The spinning wheels weren't even offered to us. Overall, I attended this event to make new friends and create something nice for my dog. I accomplished both so that was a win! While I most likely won't come back, this business is a fun concept that is great for groups of young children and I even saw a mother bring in her young daughter with her to glaze pottery together which was so sweet but the pricing and timing to pick up your artwork could be clearer. Also parking is very limited so park next door at the gymnasium.

This is Laguna Gloria, and it features sculptures all outdoors. We ended up paying since we were already there. BUT Laguna Gloria is FREE on Thursdays. Other days is $10 pp and if you didn't pay in advance online, they can take payment at the gift shop. Though, I'm not sure how they enforce it because it looks like you can just pass by the gift shop and enter the park. As a former art student, I just wasn't that impressed or intrigued by the art. You have to walk a ways away to visit the next sculpture. They provide a map at the gift shop, but since I'm not good at geographic directions, I just allowed my husband to plan the walking route for us. We got to see all the sculptures (there aren't a lot...15?) In total, we were probably there for less than an hour. I didn't understand some sculptures. I saw a lonely, abandoned light pole covered with spiderwebs and joked to my husband, "look at this artwork!" It turns out, it was actually art because there's a sign next to it introducing the art piece and everything. Awkward. Anyway...appreciated walking around the grounds. My favorite is the crying Miffy fountain, which is one of the first things you see when you enter the grounds. Street parking only (unless you are an art student or staff there).
