Ambience: It's a genuine 1950s Worcester Lunch Car--complete with Formica counters, vinyl booths, and tile floors that feel like they haven't changed since before your grandparents were born. Charming if you like that "museum exhibit" vibe--but cozy it isn't. Seating is tight, and the wait can feel longer than vintage itself. Food: Yes, it's scratch-made breakfast and lunch--maple syrup is local, English muffins made in-house, eggs fresh from Vermont farms. Great effort. But then you find out the famous hot turkey sandwich and VT burger that earned Roadfood praise under the old owner are no longer on the menu. The new proprietors swapped nostalgia for a rewritten menu--and higher prices. Some folks rave about the blueberry jam and standout flavors, but others griped that biscuits and gravy were "downright gross." Contrasting reviews and extra-charge condiment notes further muddle expectations. Service: Staff tend to move with diner efficiency--fast, polite, and no fuss. That said, reviews note some inconsistency: stellar one day, meh the next. They're friendly, but don't expect a guided gastronomic tour--just order, eat, move on. Value: With plates clocking in near $19 for diner fare like chicken-fried steak and breakfast burrito bowls, this isn't exactly your classic greasy spoon find. Everything tastes well-executed, but you're paying for that curated "local ingredients" label--not bargain basement. Bottom line: If you're nostalgic for a parlor that looks like a train car and serve-your-mother's-recipe breakfast served up with giddy pride, Parkway Diner might still charm. Just be ready to pay for ingredient provenance and ditch your hopes for old favorites like the hot turkey sandwich or VT burger. Solid for breakfast or lunch, but don't expect miracles--even if they serve bottomless coffee.

Housed in an old home in the downtown area, this family-owned deli is a community anchor in this quaint Vermont town. We had breakfast here twice and noted the steady stream of regulars who came for carryout boxes of donuts and bags of freshly made bagels. The star here are their bagels which come in a variety of both sweet and savory flavors. We recommend the bagel and lox with a smear as well as the omelets and bagel choices. We also couldn't resist their buttermilk pancakes which are served with a generous dollop of locally sourced butter and, of course, Vermont maple syrup (why anyone uses fake mapole syrup is beyond me...) Nicely crafted baked goods and fry entrees make this a must-try stop when cruising through New England.

The bagels were so fresh, and the breakfast sandwiches and omelets were amazing too. The restaurant has a small town vibe, you order at the counter and then pay at the register near the coffee section, and then your food gets delivered in the dining area. I'd recommend saving a table first then ordering/paying because the dining area tends to fill up quickly. There is additional seating in front of the co-op outside.

Everyone was friendly. My partner had the cheese omelette with rye toast. The omelette did not come with potatoes, but she did not mind at all. She liked the omelette very much, and she said that the rye bread was fabulous! She gave me a small piece, and I agree. It was delicious! I had the breakfast burrito with scrambled eggs, potatoes, and bacon. It also came with salsa and sour cream on the side. The salsa was very good, it had just a tiny "zip" to hit. They were a great addition to the burrito. The only thing, I would say about the burrito, was that the tortilla was not heated at all. It was like they took the tortilla out of the wrapper, and just put it around the food. It was a little disappointing, but overall it was still very good. My friend had Earl Gray tea, and I had coffee, which was delicious. Plus, they kept my cup full. She said that they used a good brand tea Prices were very reasonable. One thing about the place, because it is so popular, when they get busy, it is best to have patience. From the time we walked into the time we got our food it was almost a half an hour. It wasn't bad, we just visited amongst ourselves. Also, my partner kept admiring all of the beautiful photographs on the wall. It's a nice space. Apparently, the person who supplies the food for the restaurant is the photographer that took the pictures. Overall, a good meal. Thank you.
