Last night was my first time at The Argyle Theatre and we watched The Prince of Egypt. I've passed by for years and always wondered about the quality of their productions. So my husband surprised me with tickets because he knows how much I love Broadway shows. Some of the standouts of the night were- the singing and the use of the screens. The actors & vocalist did a great job, really no weak links, they were clear, they projected all the way up to the balcony, and they carried a strong stage presence. The stage was set up in a specific way for the entire show but the screens helped to enhance the scenes by projecting different images to suggest a change in setting, making it a lot more interesting to watch. Some songs resonated more than others, solely because of the weight of the message they possessed. Overall, very talented artists on Long Island that we enjoyed watching use their gifts to bring joy to others. It didn't have to be perfect to be of great substance. I will note that they loosely interpret biblical events throughout the show, especially toward the end, so a few scenes might make you go huh, but as artists, they truly made it their own. It's nice to offer Broadway-like shows close to home, and to support the arts within our communities. read more

Great theater to see Broadway worthy shows without all the NYC traffic and high prices for parking too! Saw the very last showing for the Annie musical for 2025 with my youngest son and it was such a great talented cast, with great scenic and live orchestra! The remodel of the space was done to keep the theater looking like it's always did just cleaner and more comfortable. Although I thought it was a little weird that they ran out of salty snacks at the bar for a full house performance, but regardless the bartenders were so friendly and warm! Will definitely be back to see more shows here! read more

It's not Broadway, that's for sure! But it'll do for Babylon. Pretty much any seat chosen is a decent seat at the theater. They have a concession stand, and the theater, tho small, it's spacious. Plenty of legroom! This was my first time at this theater to see the musical Sister Act. It was convenient if you're a local, which is a plus. They have a lot of upcoming shows so check it. read more

The theater is wonderful. The staff could not be nicer or more accommodating. We go to shows there often and have never been disappointed until we went to their 'Italian comedy' show. I must say, we did not stay for the headliner comedian so, maybe the show got better but..... what waste of $110 . The comedians were not even close to being funny. Maybe some of the material was cute but that was about it. The comedy itself had very little to do with being Italian other than the comics had Italian last names. The best part of the evening was the background music, Mambo Italian etc... when we walked in and during intermission when we left. Funny is Anthony Rodia! Now, he is an Italian comic. This left A LOT to be desired. I would have given zero to one star but as stated before, the theater itself is great ! Very disappointing. read more

Came here with family for West Side Story. I'd never seen it before, but apparently everyone said it's a good show, and worth going to. We got in, and managed to get our tickets quickly. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Had very little issues getting into the venue once we got our tickets. The friendly usher showed us to our seats, because none of us had a clue how to find them. This is a deceptively small space. It feels very intimate and that you could practically reach out and touch the stage, while still having space for lots of people to watch the show. The venue was clean, and well maintained. It's an older space, so it's still got that charm of an old timey movie theatre: deep crimson colored chairs, various pieces of art from the golden age of the Silver Screen, and an overall feeling of retaining the charm of the older space that it used to be. Bathrooms were clean, and intermission was long enough for me to visit the restrooms, and stretch my legs for a spell. The one pain in the entire process is that parking is a bit of a palaver to get done. Closest we could sort out was like three blocks away. This part of Babylon is very easily walkable, so that wasn't so bad. There were a million different little stores and restaurants along the way, so it wasn't like we were parking in some dank scary corner. read more

The Argyle Theater Babylon Friday night performance of Grease. Presentation was enjoyable and entertaining. I personally loved Frenchie and Rizzo. Note bathroom access. (See pix) The one with handicap sign is small with no room even for a small wheelchair. The other one has more room and would be more efficient if signs were switched. They do have seating for scooter or handicap individuals and help to move units to side out of way of other customers getting seats. It was interesting watching the camera man working the camera equipment in the back. Shows change regularly for a local night out check their website. Note lots of places to eat in town. Check corresponding hours and if reservations are required or suggested. read more

Pleasantly surprised with this theatre. Outside looks a bit dated. Inside was full of "old world theatre charm". Definitely a throwback of times gone by. But it's kept super clean and the seats are very comfortable with plenty of legroom (especially when compared to a Manhattan venue). Pretty decent acoustics and just an overall pleasant experience to see a show. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Will undoubtedly make my way back here. read more

I just want to start off by saying THANK YOU to Mark & Dylan Perlman for taking on this wonderful addition of live theater to my village of Babylon. The theater was intimate, so not a bad seat in the house. I liked that. The lobby staff were friendly and my usher very accommodating. When she realized there were floor seats still available she offered the seats to anyone who wanted to move closer. Thanks! I declined. I loved having the row to myself and my seat was perfect. They also offer snacks & beverages. Including adult cocktails in a can which looked tempting but I had my alcohol fill yesterday LOL. I attended the February 3 showing of Spring Awakening. Powerfully acted! Controversial subjects tempered with great songs. Thoroughly enjoyed it! In short the actors are amazing & the show was quite a thrill ride of emotions. I am so excited at the prospect of going back to enjoy more shows. My only qualm may be that I might not have been as comfortable in my seat if it was a full house. Better seats might be nice. But the show was top notch! That's right! I now have quality live theater around the corner! So come and support Mark & Dylan in this fantastic venture. I took my son to see Harry Connick Jr.'s "The Happy Elf" on 12/16/18. I have been meaning to check this place out, but tickets are a bit pricey. Fortunately, for the children's theater tickets are $15. A bargain, if you ask me - the perfect price for a nice morning/early afternoon out. It was a bit confusing knowing where to go. Orchestra was directed to go to the left but that was roped off and I stood waiting with a group near one entrance which turns out wasn't the correct one so off to the other side we went. Upon entering the theater, a woman directed myself and my 3-year old to where our seats were. My son climbed up on the set and didn't quite fit. After several minutes of trying to get comfortable, figured he would just sit on my lap when the show started. Apparently they have booster seats but the woman who showed us our seats didn't offer us one...the woman behind me had to tell me they had them where we entered. When I went to get one, there were none left but fortunately a kind soul who wasn't using theirs let me have the one they didn't need. Anyway...onto the show! I was pleasantly surprised at "The Happy Elf". The singing was excellent and the story was fun and a great way to get into the holiday spirit. This being a children's production, it was to be expected that sometimes little ones can be a little loud or not sit still. Fortunately there was a half-time and a little snack bar to the rescue. Little dude picked out pretzels. $3 bag, a bit expensive for a snack sized portion but not crazy-high. I had brought water with us from home which they didn't give me a problem about. My favorite part was being able to meet the cast afterwards and my son getting all of their autographs, great for photo ops. Eubie (the happy elf) was great as well as Molly. I love having something a bit different and not too expensive to do right in my own backyard. I will definitely be purchasing tickets for James and the Giant Peach come March. read more

I have never been more appalled!! I run a Long Island event group. We have had many event here. And then today during grease Which mind you was horrible. Not at all like the grease movie we know- the manger comes to me in the 2nd row during the play to say that an usher in the balcony saw that someone - me taking a video and photos !!! And asks me to delete them. I'm am like what???? I'm w a group of 15 people !!!! I had not taken any photos or videos. His approach was totally unprofessional! I am appalled!!! We have been to many events here as a group. A 17 year old that is up on a balcony is telling the manager false information! I gave the manger a piece of my mind and walked out at intermission!! Really- are we are Broadway!!! I think not !!! I will never return and if this place closes I would not be disappointed! Rude and Obnoxious !!! Spread the word !! read more

Last night's Comedy Show was great...each Comedian added a different flavor of comedy and kept the audience filled with laughter. Although the show was on a Wednesday eve @7:30pm, it wasn't a packed house. Please support your local businesses so the Theatre can thrive! read more

This was a small, local Long Island theater. My friends and I went to watch the Beauty and the Beast production. It was pretty awesome. Hana Culbreath was a breath of fresh air and really did justice to Belle's character. But my favorite of the bunch would have to be Elliott Litherland as Gaston. He was the unanimous favorite. The smaller theater made for a more intimate setting which was great. Although there were a lot of positives that came from the performance, I would say that was dampened and truly overshadowed by the rude and unprofessional ushers that were situated by me. We were seated in the orchestra, section K seats 14-18. I get it, the ushers do have a job to perform. But the ushers today (11/27/2022 for the 2PM show) were downright disrespectful. Several people were asked to turn their phones off though ours were already on silent. The three ushers (a young man and 2 old women) circled that one side of the theater in the last 2 sections and POLICED the few that they saw on their celphones. Now there is absolutely nothing wrong with policing and enforcing celphone usage during a show however my issue with them is that their conversations were so loud and right over me that they basically drowned the music that was playing. One woman with the bob clapped obnoxiously loud as though to stimulate a much louder applaud for the cast. She did this multiple times. We, as patrons, came to watch the performance and not to be hovered over by ushers who acted no less than vultures. And if you were going to be fair to everyone, they should have checked a little better because the people in the middle of the aisle took videos of the performance. Argyle Theater, you guys have to do a little better when it comes to your staff. Our experience at this particular show was marred by the constant interruption of your unprofessional ushers. As much as we would like to see other productions, this may very well be one of the last we see at this theater. read more

Visit Date: December 16, 2018 Hubby, Nana, myself and our two year old came to see the Happy Elf by Harry Connick, Jr. I was excited to be here because I wanted to check out a show and I'm going back again to see Spring Awakening. I was appreciative of the fact that because it was a children's show it was OK to take my son in and out of the theatre and into the lobby if he wasn't staying still because he's 2 and a half and sometimes he sits, sometimes he doesn't want to. The theatre is relatively small so anywhere you sit I think you get a pretty good view of the stage. I ended up picking out front row seats which I don't recommend for this theatre. Sometimes front row is really nice other times it's too close to the stage and your looking up to see the show. They have a nice snack stand for pre-show and intermission. I try to be the best mom possible but my son didn't wake up in enough time to eat breakfast so mommy got him cheeze-its and some apple juice before the show started. The prices for the snacks aren't as exorbitantly expensive as other theatres are. The juice and cheeze-its were $5 combined. Sometimes it's $5 for one snack. The performers were pretty good for a local theatre. With local theatre you take your chances. Sometimes you have Broadway style quality as we did with argyle theatre, other times you feel like you're suffering through a high school production. I'm looking forward to coming back here for Spring Awakening and if you're into local theatre definitely stop in for a production here! read more

Honestly never heard of the Argyle Theater, but saw that West Side Story was there so we had to go as it is one of our favorite movies/play. The theater was on the older side but still well kept & very clean. All staff we came upon were very nice & the show was AMAZING!!!! The entire cast did not disappoint, I could have closed my eyes & it would sound like the originals. The singing & choreography along with the orchestra were really top notch!!!! We felt bad that on a Thursday night it was only 1/4 filled (maybe they have too many shows?) We sat in the front row which on some scenes was difficult to see & I am 6'2". Probably on a Friday or Saturday night parking can be an issue, but for us there was plenty close by. Looking forward to returning to see Grease, but will opt to sit a couple of rows back. read more

My wife and I went to The Argyle Theater in Babylon,NY 2023-1-13 to see 'So Good' Neil Diamond Tribute Band with Robert Neary. Love the theater. We had seen Beauty & The Beast here in November and that was fantastic. The show was more than wonderful, it was spectacular. You could close your eyes and believe that Neil Diamond was performing on stage right then and there. Robert Neary was the next best thing to seeing and listening to Neil Diamond. After the show he signed autographs and took a picture with me and the wife. My wife and I are coming back October 8th. to see him again because he did such a great job. My mom, her friend, and myself went to see Mama Mia last night and to be honest, I did not expect much going in. I was so pleasantly surprised! The show was fantastic and everyone in the audience was singing along to most every song. The finale was incredible everyone was up singing and dancing, the atmosphere was incredible! I would go back and see it 100 more times!! The seats were also comfortable and had enough elbow room that you didn't feel like you were encroaching on your neighbor. Firstly I love theater and kudos to all the staff and performers. I saw the Billy Joel tribute band last night. I feel for $65 plus a ticket the stage presentation lacked. Very disappointed with my first experience here. I work with autistic individuals and my clients mother was nice enough to buy him and I tickets for Beauty and the Beast, one of his all time favorite movies. The tickets were $80 each. My client was loving every second of the show and was laughing as a result. 30 minutes into the show we were asked to leave the theatre because he was laughing too loud. No warnings. No please keep it down. Nothing. The lady that told us to leave, escorted us to a small couch and small TV next to the souvenir table of employees. After about 10 minutes of not being able to hear or clearly see the TV, my client looked at me and said "ready to go, Jennifer." I asked the lady who told us to leave the theatre for her name and contact information for my clients mother. She was hesitant to give her information and made it clear that no refunds would be given but credit to come back to the theatre could be given. I let her know how I felt about the situation and reminded her that she can't discriminate anyone with disabilities. As I was walking out of the door, the lady who told us to leave followed me outside and I was then offered orchestra seats. I was told I didn't have to leave and could come back into the play. Now I'm offered seats back into the play after you showed us to a couch and TV where we had to listen over your employees conversations? Signs need to be put up in this establishment. NO LAUGHING ALLOWED. NO DISABLED INDIVIAULS ALLOWED. NO REFUNDS!! Disgusting. Ignorant. I'm frustrated and I'm upset. This situation could of been handled differently. I really hope nobody or their loved ones has to experience this type of discrimination here ever again. read more

In reality - No stars. My dear friend paid a small fortune for her disabled son and staff member to attend a performance of Beauty and the Beast at The Argyle Theater in Babylon. Her son was enjoying so much (Loves Disney) and was laughing. Without warning, he and his staff were escorted by an employee to the lobby to watch the performance on a small monitor. Discrimination. Myself and my disabled son will never attend this establishment. While many may have had good experiences at The Argyle Theater in Babylon, this was NOT a good experience for this wonderful young adult and his staff and his family is heartbroken. And, I am heartbroken for them. It was discrimination at its ugliest. Shame on Argyle Theatre. read more

Performance wise, pure entertainment! We went to go see Hairspray and I wasn't really sure what to expect. I love the original play and movie, and I've never been to a local theater before to know how it would compare. I was completely blown away! The actors are truly talented!! As for the venue itself, I felt like I was still in a rundown movie theater. I'm not sure what it looked like prior to the "remodel" but I would imagine it looked quite similar to what it looks like now. I would've expected it to be a bit more upscale, especially since they have the nerve to charge $75 per seat, and $11+ for drinks/wine. Happy to have a local theater in the area, but would suggest maybe lowering the prices, or even collaborate with a nearby restaurant to attract more customers (2 tickets and %off dinner or something), which I believe they do but we didn't know until after we went into the venue. read more

This place is FABULOUS!! Why go to NYC when The Argyle Theater is so convenient and the tickets are super reasonable? Are you kidding? The shows are Broadway caliber and the acting is superb. The theater itself is absolutely lovely. Everyone on staff is polite and friendly. Truth is I can't wait to go to the next show there. We just saw Million Dollar Quartet at Argyle. The production was fabulous. The caliber of talent and all the production values were stellar. You are assured of a premium entertainment experience there. The seats are comfortable and the theater itself is lovely. Box office and ushers are impeccably friendly and hospitable. Went here to see the wizard of oz and it was a great time. We absolutely loved it and had so much fun. Love that we were able to meet the cast and take pictures. They were all so nice. Definitely recommend! but I will say DON'T SIT in the front row. You will not be able to see the whole stage, you'll have to look up and there is a half "wall" in front of your legs leaving no room. Luckily we were able to move back with no issues. read more

I love this theater and I just went for my first time. The staff was very attentive and the seats were comfortable. They had booster seats for the kids. The performance was great. My only issue was the bathrooms are small including the one upstairs which has one sink only. Also when you first get in if you want a drink or snack you're in the way of the people coming in. I did love that a father and son owned the theater. That's a rare and special thing. I will definitely go back. Overall I truly enjoyed the evening. read more
