    Giant chess set.

I love the Arboretum and the solidarity they show between businesses for community events like the Pups & pints event I went to there this weekend. There's also little musical instruments for the kiddos to play with, life sized cows for them to pose with, a giant chess set, an overlook to pose with your family in front of hill country, a pond where you can watch ducks swim happily, an ice cream shop, home goods stores, an Orvis store, a Barnes and noble, a fantastic art gallery, a Cheesecake Factory and more. All fine and worthy businesses perfectly curated in my opinion for an evening of shopping and dining with the family. I will say I wish the vendors gave more than a thimble full of Samples at the event. Last year was perfect. Maybe put a stipulation for sample sizes in keeping with the "pints" event name. :-)

I'm a VERY lucky girl!! The Arboretum at Great Hills is directly behind my work building..we literally share a parking garage with the Cheesecake Factory! :). So this means whenever I'm just in dire need of fresh air & needing to take a break from work I can go hang out at the super shaded, very peaceful, & beautiful hidden gem called the Arboretum or we can just walk over to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch..I know kinda dangerous! ;) Not only are you shaded from the sun with the huge trees but there are also several picnic tables to enjoy lunch or you can check out the famous granite cow statues. There are also outside charge outlets that you can charge your phone on if needed while lounging. AND the best part..it's also a very short walk to the Arboretum Duck pond! :) This whole area is just perfect & really so peaceful. -Rebecca out

I love the arboretum! Living in close proximity, there is a small but refined list of stores and several dining places to choose from! 1. Amy's ice cream = winning at staying open late 2. Barnes and Noble with GameStop! Amazing! 3. Duck pond to duck watch as I eat my ice cream. 4. Amazing redone patio outdoor area with fireplace and beautiful decked out Christmas decorations. 5. Wine down Wednesday wins hands down. Free food and wine. Need I say more? 6. There is a 3D printed candy store that recently opened up shop! Fancy! 7. Lots and lots to peruse. 8. Cheesecake. 9. Arboretum cows and beautiful scenic sitting area to hill country. 10. Renaissance hotel looks so lovely in the evening! Great quaint place to walk and get some shopping done for good staple pieces of whatever it is you're looking for!

Woooow what a pretty outdoor mall! Lots of large trees give plenty of shade to the parking lot to keep your car cooler. They also have a parking garage that's free on the weekends and weekdays after 5pm. Lots of pretty decorative string lights strung between and around trees. There's a gorgeous overlook to enjoy the quiet of nature (and maybe your ice cream!), as well as an ornate fire pit. I think they have events by it on Friday nights... though we were there on Saturday. Some unique stone sculpted cows made for some fun photo ops. Good assortment of shops to peruse. We spent a lot of time browsing the Barnes & Noble/GameStop and then having dessert at the Cheesecake Factory.

I only visit the Arboretum when they host the "Wine down Wednesday" event. I always have a good time tasting wine and trying nearby restaurants food. The event is well organized and always runs smoothly. The vendors are nice and knowledgeable about the wine and food they serve. The Arboretum area is very nice, clean and quiet. I have browsed a couple of stores and the sale associates were always nice and ready to assist me. Plenty of parking is available. However, I have noticed several stores do not have restrooms that customers can use.

Bring a salad from joe's and enjoy the shade.

One of my Finance groups hosts a monthly Finance meeting at The Domain. Shopping...some of my favorite fun stores are at the Domain such as J. Crew and Anthropologie. If you are a big baller, you can shop at stores like Neiman Marcus, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Tiffany's and whole host of other high stores. I'm a tiny baller. Smile. Dining - At the Domain you can get reasonably priced foods to high end fare. Some of my favorite places to dine in the Domain include Glorias, Flower Child, Paul Martin's and Haywire. Important to note, most restaurants have great happy hours and associated amazing prices. Nightlife - Some say that The Domain (especially on Rock Rose Avenue) is the new 6th Street (known for its bars and Live music). I would not venture out that far. However, if you want to party in the wee hours of the night, you can do it at The Domain. Fun Experiences - You can transport yourself to fun such as IPIC movie theatre, Museum of Illusion or the Battle of the Games. There were two security guards, a short one and a tall one. The short one was friendly and opened the door. Apparently they have locks on the bathroom doors now. The the second taller security guard named Joe, who I believe is autistic, FOLLOWED ME INTO THE BATHROOM. Without me realizing it, he was WATCHING ME PEE from behind waiting for me to finish. I thought he needed to use the urinal so I stepped aside as I was done. I went to wash my hands, HE THEN FLUSHED THE TOLIET for me as if I'm a five-year-old, not knowing what to do. I thought it was a joke. I think he was trying to keep the place very clean. Needless to say this is where it started to get creepy. As I was drying my hands, I joked with him about the heavy security, and what was he doing following me into the bathroom? He then in a stone cold almost robotic tone, asked me to leave the property that I was now trespassing. Now I came to this location for an event around the corner at that same location. There's multiple businesses here. There were no signs for my event. That's why I asked for directions and then I needed to use the bathroom. There is nothing outside the realm of weird in me doing any of this. I drive a nice vehicle, and I was properly dressed for the event. At that point, he began following me to the parking lot. I asked him "what are you doing, I am going to my event" he said you need to leave, I laughed, and I said yes trust me I am leaving. And he was also filming me with his phone. (who is this guy and who hired him?) and said he was calling the police on me. At this point, we had crossed into the world of weirdness and I asked him I need to see your superior. I mentioned this to the other security guard working who pretended to be his superior. He didn't think it was very big deal or outside the realm of strange. I'm a grown adult and this was bizarre. I'm not some homeless person. I was dressed nicely, and these two people were acting like I was some homeless person camping out in the bathroom I don't know who runs that place but both of the security guards need to be fired immediately. I felt very shaken up afterwards I have never been treated like that. There's no excuse. I can only imagine what travesty of justice actually happens here I wasn't shaken up because I done something wrong. I was shaken up because this 6' 5" autistic person has some role of authority, and he should not be working at this job whatsoever. He had no emotion when he spoke with me. I'm not kidding when I say he was like a robot. It was creepy. I was more worried for the women and children that attend the hockey ring next-door, and may have a similar experience with this nut job who again followed me into the bathroom and watched me pee and proceeded to tell me I was now trespassing after I was done. I've seen this before people buy a piece of property and then they have some management company who doesn't know what they're doing oversee and manage it. The actual owner of the businesses and property have no idea what really happens here If that's how this business operates, you need to sell your business it's not appropriate. This is Austin, Texas not California. We don't treat people like that here. I have nothing against autistic people, but in this case and point this gentleman should not have any authority. He should be bagging groceries and maybe not even working with the public.

The food is fine, I normally never get the food though because I don't really trust mall food if I'm being real.
