Where else but Appian Way would I want to go to celebrate my birthday with my daughters and SIL. The food was "fantastic" and the company was divine. We had three apps: *Rapini cooked perfectly *Antipasti plate was great, the in house roasted peppers and pickled eggplant were far superior to what us served in other places *Calamari with marinara sauce (excellent--large tender rings similar to Ferrari's calamari which are best in country) Homemade bread with crunchy crust and tender interior was delicious as usual. Entrees were served with homemade Angel hair pasta: Veal Natural Veal Parm Veal with Peas, mushrooms Seafood Deluxe Patter with mussels, clams, calamari, and huge tender shrimp over homemade Angel hair pasta in white sauce Filet medallions which were outstanding. Best Italian food in Capital District if not state!

This restaurant feels like home and the staff treats you like family. This is the exact food my italian raised grandmother put on the dinner table my whole life. The atmosphere isn't very special, it's small inside, outdated a bit, a little homey, but one thing is special, the food. It's a hidden gem for sure. I need to start this review with - I did not find the wait to be long at all like other reviews I've seen. Our appetizer was served in the first 15 minutes, and we had dessert on the table at 1.5 hours, which is very reasonable for a sit down dinner. I was sat at a table already prepped with grated pecorino and perfectly spreadable butter for the amazing house made Italian bread. The bread was served extremely fresh, warm, with the perfect crusty outside and bouncy crumb inside. I loved it. I decided to order a carafe of their house Chianti, which went perfect with the night, it was very large and generous. They only served one red and one white wine, and also offered beer. We started our meal off with Calamari, we saw it on another table and it looked divine and you could tell the other patrons were loving it. It was wonderful. Perfectly fried, very lightly breaded, perhaps the best calamari I have ever had. A squeeze of lemon and I was in heaven. The light and simple marinara was also a dreamy pairing. Perfectly executed. After the appetizer, cold and fresh salads were brought to us. The salad was lightly dressed in a delightfully balanced salad dressing that tasted exactly like my grandmother made. For our meals, we ordered the Veal Parmesan and the Chicken Francaise. Both meals were served with a side of house made pasta with marinara. I ordered the veal parm and it was excellent. Veal is an absolute must for me at Italian restaurants. The veal was soft and tender, thin, great flavor. I am not a huge fan of tomato sauce but theirs was just right! It was light and fresh. Megan had the chicken and it was incredible, I stole a bite. The meat was so tender and the lemon and wine sauce was amazing and balanced in flavor. I will be trying this one next time, but veal! And we also tried the house made stracciatella gelato. It was so creamy and the bits of chocolate were a great treat. The cherry on top of an amazing meal. The menu has a wide selection and the prices were extremely reasonable. I would not hesitate to return and I definitely want to bring my family soon! Highly recommend checking this place out!

If you want authentic Italian food this is the place to go. We enjoyed a relaxing dinner with time between apps, salad and entrees. Starting with the mussels marinara as an app-fantastic. Gotta sop up the marinara with the homemade bread. Followed by a simple salad with a basic red wine vinegar and EVOO. Entrees of Clams with garlic and oil over angel hair (amazing) and veal sorrentino (delicious). A carafe of wine, an espresso and a rum raisin gelato to finish off the dinner. Friendly service to boot!

    Calamari with Angel Hair pasta

I dined at The Appian Way on Saturday night with my family member. The place is small and spacious. It has pictures on the wall of Italy's Appian Way. The server was friendly and helpful with our orders. We started with red wine and warm fresh made bread. The waitstaff checked on us from time to time. We started with an appetizer Rapini which is a plate of broccoli rabe sauteed in garlic with penne. We had to wait for the order because the pasta was cooked from scratch. We didn't mind waiting once we tasted it. It wasn't oily and we were pleased with it. As soon as we finished with Rapini we had salad. The salad was fresh, too. Then, the our entrees were Veal Bolognese which was sauteed with marsala wine and topped with a slice of prosciutto and a dusting of parmigiano, and Calamari which was tender squid in a garlic and oil sauce served with angel hair pasta. Both entrees were awesome and delicious. The veal was tender and cooked perfectly. The squid was good well and the garlic sauce was delicious. After we ate our entrees we ordered a cup of gelato vanilla ice cream with raspberry sauce. The overall quality of the service, meals, and place was satisfying. It was worth waiting for the food to be served because they were made fresh. Because of the freshness, it is so important to call and make reservation. If you appreciate Italian cuisine and not mind staying in a restaurant enjoying company and wine, then I recommend trying The Appian Way.

The businesses are located a couple of blocks from the gateway marking the entrance to Schenectady's Little Italy. So much history, food and romance in this neighborhood. We had Sunday brunch at More Perreca's. The bakery is closed on Sunday but I got a Sausage Lettuce Tomato sandwich served on toasted Perreca's bread. It was so delish. The Italian sausage was served with lettuce, tomato, roasted garlic puree, mayo and side salad. Everything was so fresh. My $11 meal was reasonably priced. The garlic purée was amazing. They need to bottle it. I'd buy some. My friend had the Mac and cheese and an espresso martini. He loved both. Rachelle was our server. She was wonderful. Very helpful. She explained some of the menu to me because there were a number of Italian sausage dishes. The food was prepared quickly which was great because we were hungry. Rachelle came back later to check on us. I gave her a thumbs up and a smile while busily chewing a bite of sandwich. The restaurant is charming with nice tin ceilings and big windows to let the light in. There are many booths which makes it cozy. When we arrived most of the tables were full. Based on the chatter in the room it sounded as though a lot of friends had gathered at the restaurant to literally break bread over brunch. The menu offers a nice variety: from egg breakfasts, assorted salads to Italian classics. It was an all around yummy and enjoyable experience. I let Rachelle know that we'll be coming back.

I was here last in 2022 and had many delicious meals during my trip to Schenectady. This time, I returned to the restaurant and asked for a seat at the bar, only to be told that they weren't accepting walk-ins. I thought this was odd, but made a reservation for the following week. I wish I'd followed my gut and skipped it. The menu looks the same, but the preparations are completely different. The chicken Milanese used to be two large pieces of chicken served with a light and delicious cream sauce, nothing else. Now, it's a single thinly pounded piece of chicken, piled with lettuce and tomatoes (no mentioned of this on the menu) and served on top of a bland cream sauce. I wouldn't have ordered it if I'd known this. Also, the side order of cavatelli which used to be so delicious tasted like it had about a tablespoon of salt poured over it. Seriously, I've never had such salty food in my life. I also heard a diner at an adjacent table complain to their waitress that their food was too salty. I don't know what happened, but Cornell's is a completely different place than the great restaurant it once was. I won't be going back.
