Amazing Chocolatier in our Backyard!…read more With parents from Europe I've always been a chocolate snob, so imagine my delight at learning about Craving for Chocolate right off Gallows Rd in Tysons. I was selecting a gift for a friend in the restaurant industry, also a chocolate snob, and Dalia, one of the owners, was so helpful! She offered me some samples and we created the perfect assortment for my friend. I cannot recommend them highly enough. They have lovely, elaborate, gift boxes but I just used the bag she gave me to take them home in ( plus some ribbon she gave me) and et voile! Run, don't walk, the next time you're "craving" something special!

Potomac chocolate and Graffiti Cat Pizza is amazing!! Went here while hungry after exploring the…read morecity. Located in historic Occoquan VA, it's mainly a chocolate shop that ethically sources its cocoa from different countries around the world in order to make their in house (mostly dark) chocolate bars and bon bons. They also serve gelato, drinking chocolate (hot cocoa) and on select weekends homemade pizza with sourdough via Graffiti Cat! The shop is very small with no seating inside but there are a couple tables and chairs right outside and in the alley (in the winter we just get it to go or eat in the car). Parking is hard as it's very busy and it's on a historic street so it's all on the side of the sidewalk. The drinking chocolate is my favorite! I always have to order a traditional (think American hot cocoa but with a richer feel), and a European drinking chocolate (smaller cup with less milk but so rich like drinking straight melted dark chocolate!, so absolutely delicious!). I often get their bonbons as well which are handmade and have various flavors like toasted coconut, Ugandan Dark chocolate (named for the country of cocoa origin), raspberry and mint, along with a few others. I got the 70% dark chocolate, the mint chocolate, and the toasted coconut. I liked two of them but the mint chocolate tasted a bit too much like toothpaste to me so I didn't finish that one. Now onto the Pizza. They make their own sourdough for these personal size pizzas, and use fresh ingredients. They have a set menu except for one special pizza which changes each week and is updated on their website. I ordered the margarita pizza and added pepperoni on top. The margarita part was tasty and the sourdough really compliments the ingredients well...if you like sourdough you'll love these pizzas. I would say that the pepperoni is more porky than beefy and since I don't tend to like pork I didn't appreciate it as much as I usually do. If you like pork you will be fine with it. The pizza is NY style in that it is thin and chewy. I think it could use a bit more sauce but it's tasty nonetheless. My husband got the cheese pizza and he enjoyed it but not nearly as much as me (though he doesn't love sourdough like I do). The service is great and I love the adorable cat mascot for the pizza. They hand draw on each pizza box and each one is unique, which is cool. If you look out the window you'll see they 'graffitied' a graffiti cat on the brick on the side of the building. Bon bons: 4/5 Drinking chocolate: 5/5 Pizza: 4/5 TLDR: delicious dark chocolate for drinking and eating; ethically sourced. Pizza pop up on weekends is good and has a cute cartoon cat mascot. Parking sucks, but that's just historic districts for you. I dream of the drinking chocolate and need to get it at least once a month. I definitely recommend both Potomac Chocolate and Graffiti Cat.

Another Swiss chocolatier had a more prominent space, which confused me. They offer some "buy X, get Y free" kind of deals, so I got several bars as well as some smaller chocolate bonbons. They neglected to ring up the latter items at first, and then did it as a separate transaction, which effectively messed up my credit card offer. Only cost me an extra dollar or so, but not smooth. I've had some quality oat milk chocolate that I bought from Lindt elsewhere but couldn't find it here, which is a shame. For those that want regular chocolate, the selection was mostly packaged items that you could buy online, with a few fresh things in store. NOTE: REVIEW IS FOR THEIR FROZEN CUSTARD ONLY!!!…read more We were a bit surprised to see a homemade frozen custard shop INSIDE a paint-your-own-pottery place lol. So we approached the front entrance with trepidation, not knowing what to expect when we stepped inside. But sure enough, just inside the front entrance was the custard counter. We arrived on a late Friday afternoon, walking over from The Sandwich Shop a few blocks down Church (same side of the street and walking right past Rita's (!!)) after having a late sammie lunch (also our first time at The Sandwich Shop - read my review). We had spotted Kiln & Custard as we drove past it to get to the sandwich place and made a mental note to save room to try their custard as a cap-off to lunch. What a great location! Walkable anywhere from old town Vienna and the downtown area (nothing is really that far), tucked away one block off busy Maple Ave, surprisingly lots of great FREE street parking (on Church) but also right there in their small shopping center parking lot so it's truly not a pain-in-the-butt to head over and not have to stress about where to park. The guy serving the custard was also tending to customers doing pottery painting (not many when we arrived) - dunno how service is if you just come in for the custard and the place is packed (we saw that pottery customers had to ask the guy each time they wanted more paint which he portioned out for them...vs customers self-serving their own paint and colors in other paint-your-own places we've been to - with a single worker, I can imagine that could be a bottleneck problem if the pottery side is busy AND there's a line of custard customers waiting to be served). The frozen custard is DEEEEELICIOUS. You can definitely see as it's being scooped AND TASTE that it's housemade. SOOOOO GOOOD. Very creamy, soft, pliable, rich custard flavor and not too sweet. They offer 12 flavors - see my pics of the 2 display cases of custards. PRICES IMO ARE VERY REASONABLE. $2.85 for a kid's size, GENEROUS HEAVY HANDED PORTIONS (and who doesn't love THAT in this economy?!). I had the Vanilla Oreo and my friend had the Nutella - a perfect after-lunch dessert treat. TREMENDOUS! For the price, generous portion sizes, quality of the custard combined with its easily accessible location in Vienna and no hassle parking options, this could for sure be a destination frozen-treat shop when I'm in the Vienna area (which is fairly regularly). That good! HIGHLY RECOMMEND this little hole-in-the-wall mom-and-pop shop!!!
