She expresses interest in tasting the product from small-scale elite chocolateiers. I order chocolate from one of the two panelists, but the other has nothing to offer. So I search locally. I see Cocoa Vienna, good Yelp reviews, location seems convenient enough. So when I have a business appointment in Tysons, I swing by Vienna. Lovely. Small shop, easy parking, great location in the old part of Vienna downtown. Young, friendly, warm staff, my attending person took all the time I needed. Spouse prefers dark chocolate, so the attendant walked me through the choices of dark chocolate, plus some other favorites. Divine decadent chocolates, they are works of art! With so many scrumptious goodies to choose from, the dark chocolate covered Mint Oreo and pretzels were great picks! The 1/2 dozen pretzels for $7.75 are worth it! They are fresh and not too salty or sweet. The dark chocolate covered Mint Oreo tastes like a rich thin mint cookie. My review is strictly on a gift. I have not personally visited their location. I received a small, lovely, box of a dozen (truffles) chocolates for Christmas. I regret not taking a photo... Especially because I've already eaten half of them! They are delicious. You really only need one or two pieces to fully enjoy these artisan chocolates. This was such a cute little gem to stumble upon in Vienna! There are tons of different chocolate treats- from gift items to fudge to a wide counter of chocolates and truffles. We sampled several of the truffles and the quality was incredible- the crispy cluster, the turtles, and the birthday cake truffle were our favorites, but it was nice to see all of the fun flavors available. There was a sign advertising different $1 specials during weekdays in the summer, which would be fun to try. The only thing was that we did not see any sign with pricing for the chocolates, which would have been nice to have somewhere. One of my best friends lives within walking distance of this adorable chocolate shop and has brought me here twice, once in August and once in late November 2022. The shop is small but very cute, with a very wide selection of chocolates, including truffles, turtles, chocolate bark, chocolate-covered Oreos, chocolate-covered pretzels, peanut butter cups, and chocolate bars. It is honestly quite hard to choose since there are so many options. For a lot of the chocolates it also looked like they offered them in white, milk, and dark chocolate variations. The last time we stopped by, we got 3 red velvet dark chocolate truffles, a milk chocolate-covered pretzel, and 2 dark hot chocolates for about $16, which I felt was pretty reasonable given the quantity and quality of what we got. My friend especially loved the red velvet truffles, which were filled with a ball of red velvet cake and cutely decorated with sugar crystals. I really like pretzels, and the chocolate-covered pretzel really satisfied my craving. The hot chocolates were delicious, hot and smooth and much better than the powdery stuff you can make at home. The shop has an adorable porch with a bench and a few tables. I loved sitting there, especially when we went in November, as it had an almost New England autumnal small town vibe. Both times we came (one weekend, one weekday) there didn't seem to be too many people so we had the porch to ourselves. The staff are friendly and helpful. My fiancé surprised me with chocolates from this shop last Valentine's day, and I loved them so much. We had a baby last year and have had different priorities, so we haven't had the chance to stop by again until today. I actually got to go in this time and see all the chocolates and goodies, and it was so lovely. The smell of chocolate in the air is intoxicating, and only adds to the experience. Haha. From the high quality products they make ... to the great service they provide to meet your needs. Kudos to the owners for providing such a delightful confection shop in the Town of Vienna. It would be great to have a high class Chocolatier in Vienna, but I think it misses the mark. I am trying to figure why. The chocolate doesn't seem to have the smooth texture great chocolate has. I guess it must be something with the cocoa. The fillings don't seem creamy nor does it pop with the advertised flavors. The solid chocolate was better. I struggled between two and three stars. I placed an order the week of 12/13 to pick up on 12/23- just in time for Christmas! I checked multiple times that they would be open on this date and was assured I could come in on 12/23 to pick up my $60+ order during normal business hours. Went into Cocoa Vienna the other day for some Valentine gifts, I found the staff to be rude and snooty and the store was empty. I noticed one of the trays was empty and when I asked if they had any more I was told "we are too busy to make more and if you see an empty tray it means we're out". I find it interesting that many stores in Vienna have had to close and to walk into a store where I'm getting an attitude and they don't want to do anything extra to help me, I'm surprised they're still in business! I have been visiting this shop for the past 2 years and can attest to it being my favorite chocolate shop in the DMV. I have a nut allergy which hinders my ability to access baked good and sweets such as this, but a worker here has ensured my well being and happiness with his consideration. Thanks to him, I have nearby access to modestly priced and finely crafted chocolates rather than spending a fortune on Vermont Nut Free Chocolate (still great, just expensive). My favorite thing here has been every single ganache and now the chocolate covered orange, peel and slice, I had just today. Cocoa Vienna makes some of the best chocolates we've ever had! We are from LA, but were visiting DC family and stopped in on Christmas Eve to get gifts. We got mixtures of everything and a bar of dark chocolate for us. They had nice diversity of pieces and the staff were helpful, friendly, gave good recommendations, and down-to-earth (i.e. not stuffy like you sometimes get at up-scale chocolate shops). One of the charming things about this store is that they have fun & inventive chocolate options like "red velvet truffle" alongside their more classic options of dark chocolate ganache or grand marnier ganache. All are tasty, but having traditional and less traditional options sets them apart. Everyone loved the chocolates (including us). We had a chance to visit a small Chocolate shop on Church Street, off Maple. This shop was AH-mazing! The owner was so nice and talked about his history with shops he had owned in Arlington and DC. There are so many varieties from truffles, to sports shaped chocolates. There is a person up front who is dipping while people are shopping. FUN... We had a behind the scenes tour of their back party room that is available for rental. It reminded me of a Speakeasy room with leather chairs and cool lamps. Anyway: The chocolates are roughly $1 each, and I enjoy little more than buying 3 or 4 candies and sitting on the lovely porch out front to eat them, watching the minor bustle of Church Street among flower bushes. I get so excited about all the options every time I enter. Anyone can arrange a customized dessert selection---so everyone leaves happy, whether they're into chocolate-covered ginger, almond bark, chocolate cherries or creamsicle truffles. My most recent haul included the Jamaican rum (absurd, drool city, but not too boozy); milk-chocolate marzipan (not as almondy as I would've liked); dark chocolate smoked sea salt caramel (jfc, too good. I had a great conversation about smoked vs regular sea salt with the friendly owner who helped me. I ate half of the little thing and saved the rest for later); and dark chocolate orange peel (perfect balance of chocolate and sweet, tangy citrus). I really don't understand why people are giving this business such a high rating especially with the quality of theirs customer service.It's overpriced and quite ordinary! I won't be going back.
