In August 2017 we hired Whitestone Contracting to do a complete renovation of our kitchen and…read moremaster bathroom. Our COOP required a number of permits and insurances to do the work in the building and Rene was able to provide all of them. Upon completion of the project we experienced a problem with the construction of the bathroom floor. The tile floor was put in a full inch and a half below the toilet flange. This gross oversight that made it impossible to install a toilet. It cost me an additional $700 to bring in a plumber to repair their mishap! A year and a half later in February 2019 we began to experience a number of problems with the tiles that were installed in the bathroom. The tiles in the shower wall where the fixtures are located began sinking into the wall. There were also a number of tiles on the adjoining walls that were becoming loose. The grout in between these tiles began falling out. I was concerned that the water from the shower would get behind the tiles and we would experience mold! I contacted Rene and he came to inspect the work that was done in the shower. He had no explanation of how this could have happened. It was quite obvious though, the workers didn't use nearly enough cement to adhere the tiles to the newly constructed walls. A cost cutting short cut for sure! A date was set to make the repairs. Since I did not have any leftover tiles he asked me to procure some more tiles and he would reimburse me. I stayed home from work while they made the repairs. It was a good thing I did because I found the workers trying to reattach tiles that were chipped. I pointed this out to them and they recut them before being installed. About 7 months later we began finding a whole new batch of tiles in the bathroom coming loose. After several weeks of reaching out to Whitestone I received a number of excuses why they were unavailable to come back again to do more repairs. I remained persistent and continued to call, in order to hold them to task. We finally set a date and they were actually very helpful. They even took it upon themselves to pick up the tiles and provided all supplies. I regret not being able to be home that day from work to oversee what was going on. Even though the tiles seemed firmly affixed several of the tiles installed are chipped and uneven. At the end of the day we are stuck with a job that shows a complete lack of attention to detail and workmanship. In the days that followed I sent a number of texts and emails to try to get an explanation of the unsatisfactory work. I only received a text from Rob saying how he was sorry and would address it with his guys on Monday and that he would call me. I never received any call. In addition, I was never reimbursed for the tiles I had to pick up from the first repair. After two years of living with Whitestone's lack of professionalism I am left feeling like my only recourse would be to pursue this in small claims court. As the pictures show for the thousands of dollars we paid for our bathroom this is not an example of a professional installation. Based on my terrible experience it would behoove you to stay away from these guys.

I was enticed by the low cost of the work and Ben was very responsive. He just seemed confident…read morewith his work. His company is one that was recommended by Angi and honestly now I am skeptical of Angi and will never use them again either after this experience. We wanted trek stairs going from the patio to a side door and pavers all around as the patio. Gramarossa are not professionals. The guys they hire seem to be randomly plucked off the street as they have no clue what they were doing. I should have known because when I spoke to Ben he said they did not do trek steps, only masonry. I set an appointment anyway because I figured maybe I can hire someone else to do my trek steps. Yet when he spoke to my husband a few days later (I was at work) he said they do them. It was a disaster from the moment the backyard pavers were laid out. The whole thing was literally slanted sideways by probably 10-15 degrees. In fact the next day the whole thing had to take down and redone. Ben claimed it happened unfortunately because he was not watching his men because he was too busy shopping for our trek materials. The trek steps was done by a man from an entirely different company. It seems they have hired him separately on the side to do it so they can have our business... and it was a SHOTTY job. Ben and his father was watching the man do the work and never said anything about how terrible it was... until we brought it up and they agreed it was not up to their standards. So If we were timid and didn't say anything, they would've definitely let it slide. Whatever. I was just glad they fixed everything without putting up a fight. But here's the thing that really made me angry. His men put their materials and mixed concrete on own brand new asphalt done the year prior, with no protection whatsoever so half of our newly done asphalt was sprinkled with dried concrete. Sadly we did not notice it when we paid because there was still dust and debri all thoughout and it was wet (they attempted to clean) so it was hard to see the stains. That is our fault for not noticing. But I'm annoyed because they knew it happened. I captured the entire thing on my ring camera where they were cleaning and the worker called Ben and his father over to show him the stains that did not come out. They stayed there for a long time trying to clean but it did not come out. No one said a word to us. I contacted Ben via text a week or so later after noticing the huge stains to which he denied it happened and that the stains came out. He said he will come by to power wash it to see if it would come out. We told him we tried. He said he will come by nonetheless but of course never showed up. He said his asphalt guy is not answering and is busy. That was the last of that. So... don't be cheap and hire these guys. I wish I had not.

He is cost effective, honors his schedules, and insists his crew consistently leaves the work space clean and operational on a daily basis. After several renovations he has performed for myself and many of my often demanding neighbors, he has proven to be one of the few GC's no one has ever expressed disappointment or a complaint regarding the quality of his work.
