We had a ton of work to do. Drainage due to another property's re-grading, repairing existing drainage, replacing a torn up driveway, and replacing Belgian block that was pretty crooked and beat up. We had plans from an engineer as required by our building department, in short; lots to do and a bunch of restrictions. Jesse and Lauro carefully reviewed everything with me and gave the good and bad to me straight. They were practical and prompt at every turn. The whole crew was incredible. I can't say enough about Jessi, Lauro, and the entire Driveway Masters team. Aside from their incredible work, as you can see in the attached before and after photos, to a man they were knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and meticulous! Jessi is crazy responsive and efficient and has been in the business for many years and he, rightfully, is very proud of his business and his entire team of very hard workers. Lauro was super helpful working through the catalog choices before us as we were struggling to pick out what kind of stone we wanted for the segmental wall and walkway/landing. His entire crew is a well-oiled machine. In less than two full working days they pulled up that sad "before" driveway and laid down the stone segmental wall, replacing the timber one that lasted only 5 years, a walkway and landing, re-mortared the existing Belgian block garden borders and a brand-new driveway! That also includes their substantial work on regrading and reinforcing the base material and diverting drainage piping! Noteworthy is that they could have covered over some piping (as had whomever did the original driveway) that was unearthed during the base re-do but instead brought myself and their supervisor into the conversation to work through a solution that, had they buried it, would have created roof drainage problems and undermined the driveway after they had long gone. During these couple of days, I learned that his crew has been with him for many, many years and it shows by how well they work together, with all of them having a ridiculously strong work ethic, with attention to every detail. From start to finish they were meticulous, from hand picking/laying small asphalt pieces along the walkway edge, hand brushing polymer sand into the landing stone, to how perfectly they returned/stored our water hose they borrowed and sweeping the front step and every last stone in the adjacent "fire road". I NEVER write such a lengthy review but felt obligated in this case given what I got for the money and the service one doesn't often see these days. read more

We had to replace our entire driveway, which was 35 years old. Had cracks and broken areas, mostly caused by Pine tree roots growing under it. I met with a few other Paving contractors, and I felt most comfortable and confident choosing Jesse at Driveway Masters, for a number of reasons. Jesse explained the scope of the job, which included completely removing the existing asphalt driveway, extending it, and putting down a new base layer, and then, about 5 inches of new Asphalt. The other contractors were not as specific about what they were going to do, and it seemed as though we would be getting a superior driveway, at the same or LOWER cost than the other estimates. I am extremely happy with the finished product, as our home and property look amazing. The crew of guys that did the job, and there were about 10 workers, were extremely competent. They had to excavate the old driveway, and load and cart away the asphalt, put down a new layer of gravel, and level it, to prepare for the paving. 5 Star Review for Jesse and his crew at Driveway Masters! Repaving our driveway has been on our to do list for awhile. The old driveway was severely falling apart. Additionally we had a very bad water drainage issue. We added some parking area (the gravel) next to the driveway and we had been getting a pond any time it rained. One of the reasons we decided to use Driveway Masters, is that Jesse immediately suggested the need for drainage when he can out for a quote. Some other local driveway pavers said drainage was not needed when I brought it up! Drainage was clearly needed. The quote from Driveway Masters (for the paving) was in line with other quotes and was for better work (4" loose pavement vs 3"). Because Jesse wanted to do the project correctly (we wanted that too!) he also had cost for setting up drainage; which was well worth it. He installed a small catch basic in our backyard to prevent water from spilling onto our driveway and then a larger catch basic in the driveway. His crew did a lot of work to regrade the driveway and make sure the water would run into the basin. The upper basin was connected to the driveway basin, then piped close to 120' to the woods where a drywall was made to collect runoff on the property. During the process we also had his crew rebuild the stairs into our backyard. These had been done recently by another mason and they were already breaking. The solid concrete base Driveway Masters added will now last. We worked with Jesse and his crew to also do some random stone work. This included moving some boulders near the driveway and adjusting the stone wall to have a ramp (for a tractor) to the back yard. He is very receptive to custom requests and wants you to be happy with all the work done. The driveway work started in Nov and the paving was done early Dec 2022. After this crazy winter into 2023, we are so happy with not only how it all looks, but how well the drainage is working! It has been so wet and we would have had a lake!
