okay, here's the thing: after enjoying a variety of draft ciders recently Angry Orchard doesn't…read morequite cut it and boulevard wheat isn't what I was hoping for... bar has a nice view of the river if you're looking that way, otherwise it's a bar... a bar with lots of TVs (at least eight) assaulting my senses with the sad drama and simulated pagentry of the NFL draft. otherwise lots of natural light from a few well placed windows and some electric lights dangling from the high ceiling. regular crowd of regulars coming and going, drinking and driving, and all like that until I walk in and take somebody's seat for a disappointing cider as prelude to a patty melt and rings for a substantial upcharge (BK is same/same) burger is kinda mashy and juicy despite it's generally well doneness as all melty pats are :-) breads are tasty and toasty and represent the breed well although I prefer something a crustier and more substantial. the biggest area for improvement would be ring pricing; a little more for a little less would go a long way with me but I understand that onions don't grow on trees... final thoughts: the low production values of the NFL draft would make me stop watching football if I liked it, which I don't because of this type of f*chery.

View is incredible, this spot is housed in a cozy historic building on the waterfront. The waitress…read morewas friendly and water glasses filled. The ravioli (a regional specialty) was crispy and came with a red sauce. I asked for my steak to be medium (and specifically said pink throughout). The "sautéed mushrooms" were from a can. There were almost no peppers. When I pointed out the overdone steak to the waitress, she said they get different cooks on the back and she said she would discount the bill (by $2) but did not offer to bring out a medium cooked steak. This was a while back. Hopefully the food quality has improved because the view is truly wonderful.

She did a good job though. Came here for our anniversary, and when making the reservation they ask if it's a special occasion, so we told. They never said anything or did anything special, no big deal but why ask. The first course was delicious bread and butter. And something else I'm forgetting. The one slice of bread they give should have been a warning sign. Between the two of us we ordered everything on the menu. Minus the wine/cockrails, we don't drink. I order a phenomenal lemonade though. I said "holy shit" when I took my first sip. The food was very good but the portions were so small I didn't feel like I could really establish if I liked something or not. It was unique food which is fun but i couldn't tell you if i found something new because there wasn't enough to appreciate it. It was beautifully presented and much of it was really delicious. The desserts especially. By the end of the meal we were both still hungry. It's kind of a rule for me if you're going to go out to a fancy place and spend the money you Really should not leave hungry. I would give this place 1 star for that alone but it's in a small town and I just can't. The peanut butter cookies they talk up at the end honestly felt like kind of a joke they were so small. It was literally someone's thumbprint size. You get one. We both looked at each other and laughed. We had fun but be prepared to go home and make a second dinner. Or there's always Taco Bell.

He made some suggestions after I asked a few questions. Ended up with the Denial and Error made with Strawberry Infused Cambio Blanco Tequila, Black Sesame-Miso Syrup, Lime, and Chocolate Walnut Bitters. So different but so good as is always the case! I loved how the miso and sesame came through. My other pick was what my daughter was going to get so I got to try that, too! The So Hip It's Outta Sight made with Blanco Tequila, Green Chile Vodka, Creole Shrubb, Cranberry-Sage Syrup, and Lime. It was sweet and good. I would order either of them again. We arrived late on Sunday, around 9:00 PM and they closed at 10:00 not realizing till we were in and seated that no one else was there, we must have passed the last person that came out as we were coming in. Everyone was very gracious; we had one drink and were on our way. I normally have two but didn't want to overstay. I love this place!

The vibe is classic, elevated, and gives true cocktail lounge energy -- not loud or chaotic, just intentional and well put together. Now let's talk about what we came for: the drinks. We ordered the Old Fashioned flight, and when I say they did not come to play... they did not come to play. Each one was crafted differently, and you can tell there's real skill behind the bar. These are not bartenders -- these are mixologists. Every drink was balanced, strong (in a good way), and thoughtfully made. Quick tip: If you plan on getting the Old Fashioned flight, make this your last stop of the night... because you will feel it. Service was great, drinks came out in a timely manner, and the overall experience felt elevated from start to finish. Highly recommend if you're looking for a true cocktail experience in St. Louis.
