Little dive bar right off of Bourbon Street. We were here for the Saturday before Mardi Gras, and this was one of the least crowded bars where we could sit down for a while. I ordered one of the cherry lemonade drinks, which was quite good. Like anywhere on/around Bourbon Street, it's not a pristine place. But, you're here to get down and dirty anyway. Service was quick, restrooms not the cleanest, but better than most other options around. read more

Ah, The Alibi! Fun times are had at The Alibi, especially during Tales of the Cocktail. It's a popular spot for people in the service industry to converge after a shift. It's also 1/2 block from the Ritz so TOTC attendees gather here for a pit stop enroute to their next adventure. Connections and friendships are formed here. We stopped in here for a quick drink during Mardi Gras and it was very welcoming and quick service. The bartender we had was very upbeat and pleasant and the atmosphere was well... it was Mardi Gras so of course it was packed but not so much so that you couldn't get a seat at the bar. Plus we liked that the name of the bar was called "The Alibi" similar to the one in the show Shameless lol. read more

After a experiencing Bourbon St we were trying to decide if we wanted a second wind then doing another round on the street or if we wanted to pack it in. I worked up an epic pep talk that had us decide on hitting up a side street and finding a small quiet bar until we felt we were ready for another round up and down the street. We ended up looking into The Alibi. I can't tell if it's going for the dive bar feel or not. We decided this was the place for us to grab a few drinks and just kick back. The bartender was super friendly and from what I remember, the drinks were pretty cheap as well. One of the worst bar experiences I've had. From the moment I walked in, the bartender gave off extremely bad vibes -- so much so that I wanted to leave immediately. She had zero social skills and made it feel like we were inconveniencing her just by ordering a drink. Completely unwelcoming and uncomfortable atmosphere. Server seemed friendly, until we got our bill. Pinned $1 on my partner, added it to the bill. Non event prices- $9.00 drafts $10.00 shots Somehow a $25 tip was added to our $94.50 tab. Many other options out there. We definitely won't be back. read more

they had a sign that said $6 fireball special, and the michalob was $5. bill came to $16? saw the POS screen as a fireball for $8 and a random $1 ABC charge? not the type to do this but I felt played and left. was told it's a $13 beer and a shot combo, which with tax, still doesn't add up. i work. in the French quarter so seeing this is disappointing. read more

Nice spot, friendly staff and they have some great drink specials. Had a bottle of beer and a shot of Jameson for $8 which is a great deal. Bartender was super nice too. They had slots in the place if you wanted to gamble. Didn't have anything to eat but would definitely go back for their drink specials and friendly conversations read more

Stopped in while we were waiting for our dinner reservation at a place close by. Drinks seemed decent. Place seemed relatively clean and the staff was nice to us. It's your typical dive bar but it was refreshingly not slammed like everything else on Bourbon. read more

My husband and I came last night and it was one of our favorite bars when we lived here. Ms Cat recommended the alibi burger which did not disappoint and made me the best cocktail ever. We love her personality and we follow her wherever she is in New Orleans and she always SO sweet! Alibi got a winner and we will be coming back now every trip! With so many bars and restaurants in New Orleans, it's easy to get confused. This bar/restaurant stayed open late and served decent food. It served as our after midnight snack you could say. The place itself is super dark and looks like a bar. I split a grilled cheese with my best friend. It was decent, but the fries that came on the side were really good. i was pretty surprised considering how late at night it was when we went. The super crispy kind I like! Delicious. Definitely a place you should consider if you want real food late at night! read more

if you want to get money out of the Atm it's only 100 dollars at a time and they charge 6.00 dollars for it. the bartender women during the weekend is a wet rag, says nothing .to the customers , no personality!!!! read more

We popped in here after learning that Deanie's had a 1 hour 45 minute minimum wait! I am so glad we stopped here. It's nondescript, most walk on by because it's another shotgun style hole in the wall New Orleans bar. Let me tell you, if you walk by, you're missing out on a stellar shrimp po' boy that is not as expensive as other places in the Quarter. Overstuffed, fried to perfection, juicy bits, that glorious crusty soft French bread, fully dressed. Delightful. The bartender was fun and friendly and the beer prices super reasonable. Plus, it provided us with an alibi for why we weren't waiting in line at Deanie's with others! read more

Cool late night spot. Needed a laid back spot to meet someone for drinks and we stumbled upon this place. We sat at the bar and had some drinks. I asked what time they were closing and they said never! Say what?! Never?! Ok, this will do and it did. I guess that's why the name is called "the alibi." You really could be here at any hour and use this place as your alibi! They have food here as well. I enjoyed the music from the juke box and the low key vibes. read more

It has been years since I have been here and I was surprised 15 years later it is still open. The Alibi was my late night haunt in my college days. It is one of the few late night French Quarter spots you can get a decent meal. We came here last night and I ordered the burger. It was still as delicious as I could remember. the bartender ripped my real id and then told me there "was nothing they could do" because they were trying to see if it was fake. they could have scanned it, they didn't have to rip my id. no reimbursement or any help for the personal property they destroyed. she refused to get me a manager or any kind of number. the attitude and disrespect was loud. might i add i fly back home tomorrow after being here for my 21st birthday. read more

A shot of Jameson and a $2 highlife. Yeah, you right! I think everyone who regularly visits the Alibi has some night in there that you hope noone photographed. It's seedy, dim and funky. Basically your average dive. It's also a fairly popular service industry hangout, hence my frequent stops in...if I actually checked in as often as I did a quick drive-by there before my drive home...well, you'd think I am a raging alcoholic. And I wouldn't want to be spreading false rumors about myself. The bathrooms are horrendous, even for my quarter rat standards. I'd suggest being fairly intoxicated if you need to go, so you won't be so interested in the cleanliness. They have a few video poker machines and a digital jukebox. They also have food. None of it's exceptional, but it is edible. The french fry plate is good for soaking up some of the late night booze. They are pretty much open 23 hours a day, closing for what seems like an hour around 8-9am to clean. read more

Things escalated when one person in our group was simply texting on her phone. The bartender lowered the music and yelled over the mic that no pictures or videos were allowed. We were not taking photos or videos at all. Meanwhile, the door staff continued staring at us as if we were doing something wrong. If they didn't want our business, they should have simply turned us away at the door instead of wasting our time. Overall, the staff came across as rude and overly aggressive for no reason. The atmosphere felt tense and uninviting, which is not what you expect when visiting a new place. Plenty of other bars nearby where you're treated kindly--this just wasn't one of them.

Attentive, quick with a refill, and serving with a smile like she'd been doing this since the dawn of cocktails. The vibe was classic dive -- a mix of locals holding down their usual spots, some questionable neon signs, and that faint yet oddly comforting smell of stale beer mixed with a hint of nostalgia. Would I come back? Absolutely. Would I make this my regular spot if I lived closer? Without a doubt. This place is the dive bar blueprint -- no frills, just good drinks, chill vibes, and the sweet hum of an overworked A/C.

There was a bar tender who was jamming some good tunes. It's definitely a relaxed and chill vibe. Nice that it's open late. The place was basically empty, so we had it to ourselves. Well - let me anyway. High quality here - from start to finish. Thoughtful, design forward, excellence everywhere. The Gumbo was unlike anything I could have imagined - dark and rich - a treat. Atmosphere/Appearance: It's EXTREMELY BUSY and very loud in here. Lol. As mentioned above, the bar is located inside the hotel so once you walk in through the front door you enter the lobby then head to the right. It's a first-come, first-serve situation (at least it was for us at the time). So of course, the carousel bar is the highlight. It's a slow rotating bar rail and it's adorable. Lol. Almost the entire bar is eyeing any available spots so you have to be quick, but be respectful. However, there are tables and such sprinkled throughout the bar where you can hangout at as you stalk the actual carousel. My wife and I sat in the window which made for some excellent people watching. Lol. Eventually after what felt like an hour or we did spot some spots on the carousel, my wife held them for me as I closed the check then finally got to sit... and SPIN! The bar completes a full revolution every 15 minutes so you definitely won't get dizzy. Service: We had no issues here whatsoever. The staff is just super busy all over the place, but they didn't miss a beat. Food: For my first drink I checked out their Oaxacan Midnight which was like a tequila play on the Old Fashioned. It was delicious, a bit lighter than an Old Fashioned, but certainly stood on it's own. For our first appetizer bar bite we tried the Blue Crab & Corn Beignet which didn't come out as I was expecting. Lol. I'm not mad, I just pictured the big, fluffy things from Cafe Du Monde, but maybe stuffed with goodies! These were more like fritter than I absolutely loved so much I ordered a 2nd plate. Lastly we tried the BBQ Shrimp which was grilled to perfection with a good snap, excellent flavor and good char along with a tangy, cream sauce on top. Value: It's pricey. Food and drinks were decent, but a SMIDGE overpriced, but... they know you're going to pay because you're on vacation, you're a tourist and you wanna be in this novelty bar. Lol. Regardless, I had a blast and you can say you did too whenever you check this place out! In conclusion, I've now been there, done that. Lol. The Surf & Turf gives you get the best of both worlds (shout out to Hannah Montana). Look it up kids. You get the slow-cooked roast beef with gravy plus fresh Gulf shrimp. Shut the front door! The James Brown is just as incredible: juicy BBQ beef, pepper jack cheese, fried shrimp, and a hot sauce mayo. Bring napkins - you'll need them.
