Dr. Lo is one of those people. A natural educator in a dental scrubs, Dr. Lo took the time to explain common misconceptions about dental hygiene with kindness and zeal. Like I said, I've never felt more excited about flossing and brushing. I took advantage of a new patient promotion for the office and am so glad that I did. The staff are welcoming and take the time to answer questions. I was not upsold on any service. From what I could tell, this dental office is more interested in giving patients what they actually need and does not try to sell products or procedures that are not necessary. It sounds like they offer a membership for self-pay patients as well that would offest the cost for those who are underinsured as well. Happy with the discovery of this dentist. Well worth the drive from Denton.

I still get reminder calls and emails from this clinic for cleanings, which I truly appreciate. The doctor was very understanding and offered me a refund, which I accepted. I'm updating my review from 1 star to 5 stars to reflect how everything was handled with professionalism and care.

You don't want to get it done ok. But if you delay it's on you and not him. He is very personable and down to earth. I've been going to him for almost 6 years now. Seriously, I had the urge to get up and leave, which is a first, but I didn't want to be rude so I stayed. He is nice and friendly, but he was not listening to me!!! I was trying to tell him my basic teeth concerns/issues/dental history but then he started correcting me. Lol ok. Kept cutting me off, talking AT me, asking questions but not waiting for my answer. I found him to be incredibly abrasive and I wish we could have slowed down and established basics before getting to all the chit chat and joke cracking. The purpose of my visit, my most pressing issue, was to address a few minor chips on my front teeth. I expected he'd examine the chips and my bite/alignment, then set me up for a "composite bonding" which is a common procedure. (I would have had this simple and straightforward treatment done by my previous dentist but unfortunately I moved and am new to the DFW area and looking for care!) Dr Loftus let me know the reason for the chipping is the way my teeth grind, or line up when I'm unconscious of it. Totally makes sense, that sounds right. But let's get to the solution, please can we talk about fixing the chips now? No. He said I'll need braces because otherwise "it will keep happening" even after filling in the chips. Is it possible I might chip my teeth in these same spots again in the future, due to the underlying cause of the chips in the first place? Sure. That's possible, but a reasonable dentist would just fix the chips as requested instead of referring me for orthodontial work! I pumped the breaks and said that's way too drastic, I'm not getting braces, I've already had them as a teenager, and I'll cross that bridge IF and when I get there. (No to be honest I am never getting braces again haha I have nice straight teeth. A night guard is one thing but getting braces due to a chipped front tooth? Whaaaaat?!) Loftus backed off the braces idea and we got back on the same page and I made it clear I wanted to just do the composite filling. He agreed to it! Next thing you know I'm getting walked up to the receptionist and she scheduled my appt 6 months out for a cleaning. Wait. What? Aren't we going to schedule the composite bonding? Which is why I came? I was confused, so a couple days later I reached out to their office via email "please let me know when you can fit me in for the follow up, I was scheduled for a cleaning but not for the composite bonding and I'd like to do that at Dr Loftus' soonest availablity" NEVER HEARD BACK. Wowwww I definitely fell through the cracks as far as follow up care goes. Just frustrating. I went in for a specific need and he failed to address it. I'll have to take my business elsewhere and get the composite bonding done by another dentist who is more attentive and wants the business. That's fine. Finally... and this is important... You'll be startled by the rude attitude from the receptionist. Both over the phone and when I met her in real life, her negativity was palpable. Her deep insecurity is masked by a cold, condescending, rigid exterior. (I'm referring to the young lady with dark blonde hair. She runs the front desk at the time of this review at least) Work on your soft skills! You will turn people away when you use such a condescending tone.

They wanted to X-rays on my mouth, I asked why if I was referred by the general dentist and they just took X rays 2 weeks ago. The dental assistant responded the X-rays from other dentist office can come fuzzy. So we have to take our own. Also we need a picture of the tooth we are going a root canal on. So we proceeded with the X-rays since they needed a X-rays of the tooth. When the dentist assistant got me in the room she looked in my mouth and stated she want to look in my mouth. Then she stated she needed to hit my tooth the one that need the root canal. I asked her not too, the dentist assistant said she is going to go get the doctor. The doctor come in and introduce herself, and look at my extra X-ray and confirmed I had an infection around the root canal tooth and the infection has spreaded to the a little around the next tooth and you will need a re root canal. The dentist said she need to see my teeth, i the asked the doctor please don't hit my tooth ( root canal). She stated she was just going to look, after looking she stated she will need to hit my tooth. I said No I don't want you to hit my tooth because it would hurt. She asked me from a scale from 1-10 I said 7. I also told her the to is ONLY sensitive when you suck your teeth and when you hit it. The doctor proceeded to tell me the reason when she needed to hit my teeth, because she wanted to make sure the surrounding teeth don't need a root canal. I advised her I'm ONLY her for this one tooth. I am aware I need two other root canal but the surrounding teeth were not one. The doctor states "I can not do a root canal if I can tap you teeth". I stated, you just confirmed I needed o retreat on the tooth I cane here for so what's the problem". The dentist refuse and said she will mot work on my teeth. So I go to the front desk and clerk states I have to pay for X-rays which were almost $300. I said I should have to pay for X-rays when I advise the other dentist had X-rays and plus the doctor refuse to do the work. I didn't come here to pay almost $300 in X rays. The clerk said if you don't pay it will just go to a collections and on your credit. I said I would like to dispute the charge since she took X-rays that I already had and plus she refuse to finish the job. I asked the assist to provide me the Dentist Association where we can dispute the charge since there is a disagreement. The clerk went and spoke with the doctor. The clerk came back and said she does not have that information, I said the doctor do. The doctor came to the window and said since you wanna take me to court why do you wanna talk. I said I tried talking to you and you walked off. I tried again speaking with the doctor she was disrespectful by over talking me turning to the clerk talking to her as if I wasn't there, the tell me she Will not give me the dental association information I need to find it myself. And told her staff to leave the window. I sat on the couch and call the Dallas Dentist Association, and advise how should I proceed. The doctor called the police on me, luckily he was a nice guy I explained my situation, he told medical bills don't go on your credit and the doctor wanted to put trespassing on me if I returned. Which was dumb because she never told me to leave nor did I cause an out bust like she did. Which an unprofessional setting. All this just because I did want you to hit my sensitive tooth, when you had clear evidence from the X-ray. Completely Bad service!!!!!!! Also we could have talked about if but she was being rude and unprofessional.
