The Acting Studio has been A huge positive in Dom's life . I wish we had found the studio sooner . It's more than classes , it's become her second home , her refuge. She has built some life long friendships both with her teachers and classmates . This is Dom's Sr. Year , her 4th year at the studio. My daughter has taken classes in singing, dancing and acting there for the past 3 years and we could not be happier. The owners take their craft seriously, hold the kids to a high standard and teach them how to act professionally, despite their young age. When they are on tour, the kids carry themselves with a certain self-respect and it carries through on the performances, The productions themselves are well done and a pleasure for our friends and family to see. Additionally, they do not succumb to favoritism or allow catty behavior among the students, which can happen in other performing arts schools. My daughter chose to not participate in high school theater, as she stated that the education and experience she gets at the Acting Studio far surpasses the advanced level theater class offered at her high school. read more

We have now been with the Acting Studio for over a year. My son began with the triple threat prep class, and last year was able to be a part of the Lion King. This year he is a part of triple threat and has found his tribe. He loves every minute with the crew at The Acting Studio. He isn't flashy, isn't the star of anything, but has the time of his life being at this studio. The instructors know their students - really know them. I am impressed with the professionalism, the dedication, and the high standard of instruction as well as the variety of classes available. They opened a location in Frisco almost year ago which is actually where my daughter took classes but the owners and teachers are the same as this location. We started off very excited to be finding a studio for my daughter to take her lessons however, sadly I have chosen to pull my daughter from classes there and will not return. Over the course of this year, this husband and wife team seem to have bitten off more than they can chew as far as staffing goes. Twice they have had to cancel class altogether because of their sick child. Stuff happens but the make up class was scheduled for a night we were unable to attend and there was no credit given for that fact. They have also brought their daughter to class twice because she didn't want to stay home. This is only a problem because although she is bright and cute, she is young and obviously used to being the center of attention and made accomplishing anything in class those days impossible. This last instance when I arrived, the daughter was "performing" while all the paying students were sitting watching her. That's not what I am paying for my child to do there. Even after she stopped performing, she was still talking so loudly that the teacher couldn't hear the students doing their monologues and had to ask the student three times to do it again. While speaking with the owner later about the situation, it was very clear that they saw no problem with that and apparently think that is a reasonable way t conduct a business and even had the nerve to say that me saying something about it was disruptive. LOL Personally, I don't want to pay good money for my child to watch their child perform instead of being taught acting as her class description states. I also was disillusioned to find out that in order to perform in their plays, each child cast had to pay $350. It was a $50 fee just to audition but I was assured that "pretty much everyone gets cast". Of course they do, wouldn't you cast someone if it meant they'd give you $350? I spoke to my daughter about the class and she didn't even want to go back. She said she felt that she'd wasted a year there. They only teach one particular method and she didn't like it and didn't feel that she'd gotten anything out of it. She found it boring and not useful. Guess the whole thing was a big waste of money. So, if you have extra money and want to help fund this family and pay to watch their daughter perform while getting very little in return, this is the place for you. read more

I have a 13 year old daughter that has been taking lessons at the Acting Studio for 4 years. She has been performing since the age of 3 and has taken lessons at numerous places over the years. I must sincerely say that none of those places compare to the Acting Studio. The professionalism and compassion demonstrated by the owners and instructors at the studio set standards that are difficult to surpass. Not only have my daughter's dancing, acting and singing skills improved, but her character has developed in such a beautiful way that words are difficult to describe. The folks at the studio have played a major role in this development. The instructors at the studio are not only teachers, but mentors and role models that I feel fortunate to have in my daughter's life. I would highly recommend the Acting Studio. read more

2 of my 3 children perform with the Acting Studio and take classes at their Grapevine location. My oldest has been there since 2011, and between my two kids, we've had experience with a variety of teachers and classes, including private voice, dance, improv, acting, Triple Threat, productions, and more. I cannot say enough good things about this place. I have a child who always wanted to act, but was once so shy about performing in public that she couldn't even audition for a show choir at school. She barely spoke in class. She's now in high school and is a completely authentic, confident child - and I truly credit the Acting Studio. Their motto is "teaching life skills through stage skills," and that's exactly what they do. They don't focus on perfection - only on "living truthfully in imaginary circumstances." My kids now sing and perform in front of hundreds of people. And my daughter who was so painfully shy...the one who swore up and down she would NEVER take a dance class because she didn't think she would be any good - she's now not only singing solo songs, but she's doing tap dancing solos! Playing lead roles! As a mother, it's so joyful to watch this kind of growth. The Studio is a family of sorts for us now. We've met so many great people, including the owners & teachers, and my child has even traveled with the Triple Threat group and is looking forward to another great trip this summer. If you have a child interested in performing arts, or just looking to find a voice of his/her own, please give them a try. They do have their own way of doing things, but I promise, if you sit back and let your child explore what's possible, you will be so rewarded. read more

Amazing studio with the most caring teachers/directors/owners/professionals. Been with the studio for over 4 years and couldn't be more pleased. The negative review must be from a crazy person! Seriously don't understand where those comments came from. Yes, you have to pay to perform in the productions, but they are professional and so well done. You get what you pay for & it's well worth it if you have kids who love theatre! We LOVE The Acting Studio! read more
