What a great team of artists and instructors they have here at the Grapevine location. I really enjoyed how the instructor outlines the expectations prior to starting the class. My favorite part, "every time you hear the bell ring, you must take a sip"! There were lots of instructors walking around assisting with paintings, refilling pain and paper towels (used to dry brushes). The UFO/COW painting was a birthday treat to myself. I've been wanting to paint this for a long time now. So much, I drove to Grapevine from Plano when there are three other Studios closer to me. This is my third in studio event and I truly believe that the time slots should be 3 hours vs 2. All 3 times I've gone. I have felt rushed. This is supposed to be a fun/happy event vs stressful/rushed. Kudos to the extra staff at grapevine studio, who helped me along the way, so I could catch up. I love painting with a twist & my painting came out pretty impressive. I liked the guard dog at the door & felt welcomed when I walked in. Not so much afterwards. This is my 1st time going by myself & it's much funner going with other people. If you havnt done painting with a twist, I highly recommend doing it. I attended a company-hosted team event recently. Although the parking lot did not have spots for all the cars, one of the town's many public lots was not too far away. Depending where I sat, I either had a view of the instructor or a large monitor showing the her canvas. Although the painting we chose appeared to be difficult, the instructor's step-by-step guidance allowed us to paint a very close proximity. During the two-hour class, I lost count the number of times it was time to take a sip of wine. If arriving here with a group, make sure to allocate at least half bottle per person. read more

Great experience! I've done paint and wine several times in Cali and it's always been allot of fun. This location is BYOB which I appreciated... except they didn't have any ice / way to chill wine or drinking water available... luckily one of their staff members gave me a water bottle. A night filled with giggling and painting? Totally my cup of tea. They provide all the painting materials for a flat rate of $35 and you can bring all the snacks and drinks you want. The class was three hours long but it flew by pretty quickly. I was extremely surprised by how quickly my painting dried out. A friend told me about Pinot & Picasso in Houston and I was jealous that they didn't have one here in Dallas. Then I see a Groupon one day for Painting with a Twist (PWAT) and I couldn't be more excited! There are several PWAT locations through Dallas, but the Groupon was for the Grapevine location. We had a GREAT first experience painting the UT tower - we brought dinner, snacks, and a bottle of wine. They provide everything else - plastic cups, corkscrew, ice, and all the necessary painting materials (aprons, paint, brushes, etc). After you check in and pay, you are handed a canvas with a light outline in pencil, depending on what you're painting. In our case, the outline of the UT tower. Once you get settled, the instructor guides you with exactly where you're supposed to start painting, how, and the different techniques to use. The acrylic dries quickly, so you can always go back and fix a mistake or something you didn't like! The two hours FLEW by and our instructor would remind us from time to time to take a sip of wine and sit back. The weekend sessions are 3 hours & $10 more (2 hour sessions are $35). I couldn't have had a better time - and that was obvious, because we came back for round 2! Be sure to let Colleen, the owner, know you're arriving with a group so you can be seated together. Our class was almost sold out! You can also let her know if there's a specific painting you'd like for her to schedule a session for. They also have "SOS" classes once a month for you to go back and touch up any painting if you'd like - free of charge, only a RSVP required. I'm pretty sure we're hooked and would be going every week if time and money allowed for it! read more

Awesome experience! This was my first time at a painting class and it was so much of fun! I had picked a landscape painting which looked very complex and I really thought I would fail miserably at attempting to paint it! However our instructor Jessica was fantastic! She was friendly and funny. She made sure that everybody was relaxed and having fun. She used a simple approach - she made us divide our canvas into 4 different parts and directly start painting with colors. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. There are also breaks in between so you can catch up in case you are moving slow. Everybody's paintings turned out pretty good in the end. It's a great experience. I love Painting With A Twist, especially this Grapevine location! I've been here twice now and it's been a great experience. I hosted two small Ladies' Night outings and I ask the gals to bring drinks, snacks, etc to share. This location provides cups/plates, corkers/ice to chill drinks. PWAT provides everything else you need for a fun evening-- Aprons, Paint, Canvas, Setup, etc. I also LOVE Painting with a Twist because I recently heard of their "S.O.S Day" where once a month anyone can come in for free with their previous canvas that they made and they can finish it up, touch it up, or fix it however they'd like. The instructors there during this time were so great and helped me fix up 3 of my paintings, one needed minor touch-up and I wanted to paint the edges, and one I absolutely disliked before but after the help I got, it's my new favorite painting! Colleen is the owner and she's wonderful to work with when you're organizing group outings. There's many different art instructors that work here-- Monica is the art instructor I had the last time I came in and I love how helpful she is and really appreciate the fun environment that she helps create. Honestly, I had NO idea a BYO painting class would be this fun. My partner was a prolific painter in his youth, but hasn't picked up a brush in 2 decades. I decided this might be a good way to get him back into it, so I booked the class completely on a whim, and I booked Grapevine because it was closest to me. Turns out (according to other classmates who are PWAT addicts) that the Grapevine location is the best. (That MAY be because it's across the street from tequila shots and 2 doors down from a winery?!?) Kyle was our instructor and he was super fun. Dry sense of humor, and really helped get everyone engaged. If you started to panic about your painting, or criticize yourself, he'll tap the bell and make you (and everyone else) have a drink. The whole thing is interactive, whether you go alone or as a pair or with a group, you'll end up giggling and chatting up new faces by the end of the evening, especially as everyone's paintings begin completing and you see how everyone else's vision is just a bit different. As other reviews have stated...I was DEAD SHOCKED how professional everyone's paintings looked, and I've never painted seriously in my life. What you DEFINITELY need to know (and what isn't really clearly communicated on their site, or in their emails after you book) is that this is a BYO event. Bring your own wine/beer/cocktail and any snackies you'd like to have or share. There are a couple of long breaks during the class (waiting for paint to dry so you can do the next layer!) and that's when you mingle, snack, or head across the street for tequila shots. Ultimately, I couldn't believe how much FUN this was, and I've already booked our next one. Stop doing the same old boring thing you always do for entertainment, and step outside the box! I love this location! I attended a fundraiser hosted here and had a wonderful time while supporting a great cause. The environment was very welcoming, as were the instructors. They had cameras setup to stream to a bigger screen to ensure everybody could see what the instructor was doing. The instructor was fun and lively, cracking jokes and being reassuring anytime she heard someone say something negative about their art (and of course had perfectly timed bell dings to drink!) I loved that she went step by step and made sure no one was left behind, and took frequent breaks so we could take steps back and look at our pieces as a whole to make sure we were happy with what we were painting. My Girlfriend and I went a couple of weeks ago while at home over the Christmas holidays. We had such a good time painting and drinking, we did a three hour class and it flew right by. The artist do a great job of keeping you on task so you can actually complete your painting while you are there. I have no artistic talent at all and I was able to paint a really good painting that is hanging up in my living room right now. The location is great right in the hart of historic downtown Grapevine, very easy to get to from the HEB area. I would highly recommend this to anyone that is looking for something different to do.
