For those who have been challenged with handling a reactive dog , you understand the mental toll it…read moretakes and how isolating and hopeless it can feel . You thought you did everything right by giving your dog so much love and socialization only to now be faced with questions and comments like " why didn't you just train your dog ?" , " you're not the alpha to your dog", " you shouldn't be a dog owner" on a regular basis. I have a 6 year old boxer ( the social , goofy clowns of the dog breeds) . I've worked with dogs in the past as a kennel attendant, and grown up with dogs my entire life and never thought I would be in this situation . I struggled to find a trainer whose techniques showed progress which lead to inconsistency, a lot of frustration and doubt . Eventually taking him places like the vet and groomer caused me such extreme anxiety. When I met Tom , my dog was unapproachable by strangers , including Tom initially. It took a month or so of meeting up , going on walks and practicing techniques at home but I was seeing improvement! Not long after Tom was able to take the leash from me and walk Gus, and we could walk near other people without Gus acting like a total maniac , lunging , barking and snapping. It was like he was a normal (ish) dog . Gus is 6 , so it will be a slow process to break him out of this behavior , but he has improved so much in the last 6 months .. I never thought I would get this far. I still have my work cut out for me but this training has also helped me increase my confidence as a dog owner and learn to trust my dog again. I'm not longer so nervous to take him out on walks because I feel like I'm in control.( Holding back an 80 pound boxer is not an easy task ) . I definitely recommend Tom if you are struggling with a similar situation. It probably has been the best thing I have ever done for Gus!

Highly recommend, they know their business and can handle highly aggressive dogs. Tom is ver…read moreinformative.

Rushing in 10 minutes before closing, the staff was BEYOND helpful and generous! They showed me everything I would need for a beginner such as myself, food, propper beding, viatamin C suppliments, ect. One of the guineas however had an upper respiratory infection. When I brought her in to Petco they suggested I leave both her for treatment and watch for two weeks. I took their advice and have no regrets. They have a vet they take all their animals to, and my guineas got checked out and put on some medication. The employees handled and did an amazing job taking care of my pigs! They even let me come in anytime to visit and play with them during the time they were being held and looked after. I was so pleased with my experience with the staff and how much they care about their animals, I won't go to any other PetCo. My babies have made a full recovery thanks to the wonderful staff. They really do care about the store and the animals they're trying to find a good home for! If I could give them 10 stars I would!

Firstly, the animals are kept in neglectful and abusive states. Many of the fish tanks were full of dead fish, which were being consumed by the other fish in the tank due to starvation. When I politely brought this up to my cashier, Jocelyn, she was rude, dismissive and snarky, stating that they knew the fish were being neglected and that it doesn't matter and that the fish die everyday. Concerned by this answer, I chose to speak to a manager. While I explained to the manager on shift what had occurred, Jocelyn was laughing at me and mocking the situation in plain view of the manager who allowed this rude behavior and did nothing. When I told the manager I would be writing a review about the experience I had in the store, Jocelyn yelled "AWESOME!!!" At me, while also in the process of ringing out another paying customer. The overall experience was highly unprofessional, angsty, immature, trashy and ghetto. Under no circumstances should that type of customer service be tolerated. Especially while under the supervision of a manager. Take better care of your animals, and train your staff better, your customers don't deserve this treatment.

Although we love her dearly, she was wreaking havoc in our house- the kids were scared of her, she was making a mess of the house and yard, and quite honestly we had zero control over her. She wouldn't stop barking at my husband, and I was covered in bruises from her jumping on me constantly. We were fed up and desperate, so we hired a trainer who came to our house- long story short, she charged us a lot of money, and we got nowhere. She was a positive reinforcement only trainer, and it basically just made our dog obsessed with performing for treats. In the absence of treats she did not follow any commands, and she'd break the command as soon as she was rewarded. I do think strictly positive reinforcement might work for some, but not all. We opted for a new solution, and I found Dogs by Doug online, with good reviews. Upon our consultation, I got the feeling he understood exactly what Bruna needed, and he recommended a four week board and train program. It's always a risk leaving your dog with a stranger for four weeks, it requires a lot of trust. I instantly felt like I could trust him, and you can tell he really cares for his client dogs and remembers all of them. He sacrifices a lot to constantly have dogs boarding in his home at overlapping times. Well, fast-forward four weeks, and Bruna is home. We instantly noticed a difference in her overall behavior. He told us he was going to teach her to relax, and that is literally what he did. She has been responsive to all of her commands, and at times when she breaks a command or does an undesired behavior, we now have the tools to deal with it. Walking her on a leash has become a great experience. She walks at our side at our pace, no longer dragging us down the sidewalk. I am beyond impressed with Doug's ability. You can tell he's a master of his craft, with lots of experience. He did his job with Bruna, and now it is our responsibility to keep up with the training. We are going to try our very best, and follow up later this summer! We HIGHLY recommend Doug. Our household is entirely different, at peace again and we got to keep our good girl (and our sanity). After a month of training with Doug, Lucas is now trained on all commands and the e-collar. It's super easy to make sure Daisy is on the list for daycare on the days I need her to be there (I've done this both by email and by phone). They have great COVID precautions in place, and I feel safe dropping off and picking up Daisy (you have to call beforehand, each time). The lovely folks at My Dog's Place make sure to give the pups leashed potty breaks throughout the day, which is nice. It's also nice that they divide up the dogs by size and play style, which is something that worries me at times when we go to the dog park and/or even other puppy play dates. Even though Daisy *thinks* she's a big dog (that corgi attitude...!) she is actually a tiny little thing, so I feel better knowing she is playing with pups who are her own size. :) I feel great because she's SO excited about going to daycare, and she comes back nice and tuckered out afterwards, which makes for nice quiet evenings! Overall, this is a wonderful place for pooches, and I am so happy to have these professionals on our team. Thank you from me and Daisy!

I also love the set up they have going for daycare. My dog does not attend as he goes to work with me but I would whole heartedly trust them with my guy. (If you know me your jaw would drop reading that) I'm extremely sad to see the reviews posted about this establishment. The nasty insults are uncalled for and completely unnecessary. I don't know the owner personally but I know her staff and they are amazing people who love what they do! First of all I've worked in the dog care industry myself for 12 plus years. I openly admit some of my jobs were not to my standards of animal care but at the time I was young and completely new to the industry. For starters I find it nothing but positive the staff reached out for early pick up of a dog that was in danger of being hurt by another dog for in appropriate play. MOST DAYCARES WILL CRATE YOUR DOG ALL DAY LONG, CHARGE YOU FULL PRICE NEVER SAYING A WORD!! Just FYI. As well as I know this owner to evaluate these dogs and have routine schedules for them so they are not exposed to other dogs they may clash with. There are few other daycares that do this willingly. As for the bite wound I cannot imagine an establishment ever pointing out an injury bringing it to your attention if they had any plans of hiding it in any way... just silliness. They are dogs people! Poop happens, they don't always get along. Why would they lie?? I pay all my classes with my credit card which includes tax so I have a feeling this guy doesn't know who he just reviewed because it wasn't here. We LOVE my dogs place and will continue to support a great place full of happy dogs and caring staff!
